Rocketman - A high quality new action platform game for the MSX1 (64K) has been announced via Renovatio

Retro gaming enthusiasts have a new reason to dust off their MSX hardware as the physical edition of Rocketman will land on the MSX this June. This handcrafted release is a love letter to the 8-bit community, featuring a cover illustrated by the legendary Ángel Luis Sánchez, whose iconic artwork defined the golden age of Spanish software. The game follows the journey of Major Tom, a seasoned veteran of the Jet Force Space Army. While investigating a mysterious orbital phenomenon for Ground Control, Tom is swallowed by a Dimensional Vortex. He awakens in a distorted parallel reality with a shattered ship—missing its engines, fuel, and generators. Players must help Tom navigate five "impossible" worlds, each guarded by hostile creatures and formidable bosses. To escape this reality and return to his wife on Earth, Tom must rebuild his rocket piece by piece.

Beyond the Platforming, Rocketman offers more than just running and jumping. Players can visit The Shop to interact with alien merchants, purchase vital items, or speak with NPCs. For those looking for a break from the action, the game features Doki, a charismatic alien friend. You can challenge Doki to a high-stakes game of Rock, Paper, Scissors by betting your hard-earned minerals. Furthermore Exploration is rewarded with hidden items tucked away on various platforms, granting players strategic advantages. Additionally, the developers have included an integrated Jukebox system. This allows fans to immerse themselves in the game's atmospheric soundtrack at any time, reliving the melodies of each alien world.

Gameplay Mechanics:

  • Resource Collection: In every level, players must scavenge three fuel tanks and three batteries.
  • Ship Assembly: Once the resources are secured, six rocket parts appear. Collecting these and reaching the summit completes the stage.
  • Escalating Challenge: Players can choose between Mode A (6 levels) or the more punishing Mode B (9 levels) per world.
  • Epic Confrontations: Defeating the Final Boss of a world rewards players with a Dimensional Generator and a save code to track progress.
  • For those new to the cockpit, a dedicated tutorial mode is included to help pilots master the physics-defying mechanics before venturing into the unknown.

This physical edition includes:
  • 512k MegaROM Cartridge: Professional quality and maximum compatibility.
  • Rigid Cardboard Box: Fully handcrafted assembly and finish.
  • Sponge Holder: Custom internal fit to provide the best protection for the cartridge.
  • 24-page Full Color Manual: Available in two separate versions (Spanish or English).
  • Two Exclusive Stickers: Featuring the game's original artwork.
