RGB2RTG v0.5 - Redirect your AMIGA 1200 RGB image to RTG display

What looks to be an incredible piece of homebrew software has arrived on Itch.io that could change the game for Amiga 1200 PiStorm owners. Developed by Astair86, RGB2RTG is an unofficial Emu68 fork  designed to redirect the Amiga's native RGB video signal directly into the Raspberry Pi’s RTG HDMI display output. For years, PiStorm users have had to juggle multiple cables, switch inputs, or wait on upcoming hardware solutions like the "Frame Thrower" just to display native Amiga games and demos on the same modern screen as their RTG desktop. This experimental new utility apparently bypasses the need for extra hardware entirely, offering a software-driven bridge that seamlessly swaps between the RTG desktop and native screens on a single monitor.

The newly released version 0.5 public prototype achieves this by utilizing a modified Emu68 1.1.0-beta.1 kernel alongside a customized VideoCore 1.5 RTG driver. Rather than emulating the classic AGA chipset, the software reads what the 68k processor writes to chip RAM and the custom registers, prompting a dedicated Raspberry Pi core to redraw the native picture line-by-line in vivid 24-bit colour. The system locks onto the physical Amiga beam, enabling HDMI synchronization that matches a smooth PAL 49.92 Hz refresh rate on compatible 1080p displays. Optimized for systems running CaffeineOS 9317, the package includes an easy desktop menu to toggle settings like sharp or smooth scaling, cropping, and HDMI sync, providing an all-in-one installation that can be easily reverted if needed.
