ZX Football Manager Revisited : International Edition - Make sure to check out this World Cup edition of Kevin Toms' timeless classic!

The world of footy retro gaming is buzzing with the news that the father of the football management genre, Kevin Toms, has officially returned to his roots. In an exciting new collaboration, the legendary creator of the original 1982 Football Manager has teamed up with Glen Anderson to launch ZX Football Manager Revisited: International Edition for the ZX Spectrum. This new project sees Kevin Toms serving as a consultant to adapt the timeless gameplay of his original masterpiece for a 2026 World Cup setting. Developed by Glen Anderson—the mind behind the first Football Manager Revisited—this edition aims to capture the "simple charm" of the early '80s while modernizing the scope of the tournament.

Despite the expanded features, the developers have focused on keeping the experience "bitesize." Players can now navigate an entire international campaign in under an hour, making it perfect for quick sessions. Here are just some of the features:

  • - All 48 teams involved are playable with some gentle weighting for seeded teams.
  • - every team has a full squad of real players available for selection, meaning there are over 1,000 players in game
  • - All teams and players and even the tournament itself are fully customisable so you can add your favourite team or players
  • - Manage your squad, tactics, training, the media and random events
  • - match highlights now include free kicks and penalties
  • - tournament database means you can build classic tournaments and share them with the community.

"This is no flashy machine code extravaganza. This is old school, written in glorious ZX BASIC for that true 1982 atmosphere - the long summer days will fly by! Game comes in both 48k and 128k versions and is absolutely free to play!"

  1. I play soccer, but I don’t watch soccer, and I don’t play soccer games. Never. No exceptions. Once, though, I saw a friend playing Multiplayer Soccer Manager on his ZX 128K - https://youtu.be/QJX9tKOMULw?t=631

It had no graphics. Just numbers. He insisted I give it a try. Long story short. I totally got hooked. It’s better than any RPG, heh. I still don’t play these games today, no exceptions.
