An upcoming Commodore Amiga AMOS developed title, The Tale of Sir Galahad the Chaste, may well be getting a playable demo tease after a two-year solo development cycle by Empedocles. While the adventure platformer was originally inspired by the classic film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the final narrative has shifted into a serious plot centered around Holy Grail mythology and Gnostic Christianity. Players take on the role of Sir Galahad to defeat Yaldabaoth, the malevolent deity ruling the realm.
The game is programmed entirely in the open-source version of AMOS Basic—originally shared on GitHub by François Lionet under the permissive MIT license. The creator has spent two years building the software using the WinUAE emulator, targeting an authentic Amiga A500 setup configured with 1MB of memory and Workbench 1.3.To maximize system memory, the developer engineered a highly streamlined boot disk modified from an old Amiga Computing coverdisk. Every sound asset and visual asset is completely original, utilizing the standard medplayer.library tracker extension sourced from Aminet for audio playback.
Extra Notes :
- The action requires you to learn the timing of the enemies and their projectiles. You will explore dungeons and acquire items for use in alchemy. There is a light and dark mechanic where you need a lamp and enough fuel to explore the dark areas. You can quickly load and save the game. And more ...
- Very soon there will be a playable demo available for free, and then later a release on Steam. (I also don't think there's much to worry about legally but I don't know if they like the .adf format. I can bundle my game with AROS or something but I haven't looked into that further.)
