Eldemar - A new first-person RPG / Action game for the Amiga with music Allister "Demon" Brimble ( KICKSTARTER )

A team of demo scene veterans has officially launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to bring a brand-new first-person fantasy RPG titled Eldemar to classic Commodore hardware. Developed by Darkage Software, the project is spearheaded by programmer Paolo "Mod3m" D'Urso and graphic artist Christophe "TenShu" Romagnoli, alongside legendary Team17 composer Allister Brimble handling audio. Built entirely from scratch using raw 68k assembly language, this native AGA Amiga title runs directly on Amiga hardware including the Amiga 1200, Amiga 4000, and Amiga CD32 without relying on modern emulation layers or lazy ports.

Early Demo Gameplay

The gameplay design draws direct inspiration from two timeless classics, merging the open-ended exploration of The Legend of Zelda with the fast-paced, real-time action of Doom. Players will journey from the woodlands surrounding the village of Cerro down into dark burial mounds and ancient crypts before arriving at the city of Nharuk. Surviving these corridors requires quick reflexes to fend off enemies using an arsenal of swords, axes, bows, and a magical gem weapon. The engine delivers nine hand-drawn levels across three graphic environments, complete with an unlockable automap system, interactive merchants, and full translations across six languages. While it boots smoothly on an unexpanded Amiga 1200 with 2MB of chip RAM, adding extra memory or an RTG graphics card unlocks higher-resolution sprites and richer textures.

The core philosophy behind the campaign is to deliver an authentic physical product that feels right at home on a collectors shelf. Backers can secure copies in either a standard jewel case or a premium limited Big Box edition, packed with a printed manual and a physical map scroll. Funds from the campaign will also go toward unlocking ambitious stretch goals, including four bonus levels, full-motion video sequences, and an entirely original musical score composed by Brimble. With the engine already fully functional on authentic hardware, the team is focused on finalizing the remaining content and delivering a complete boxed experience to the Amiga community.

  3. I'm glad that my colleagues with strong Amigas will get to play this as featured in the video above. I wonder if the basic A1200 with some fast ram will manage to achieve even 5fps with decent detail level.
