Heliobane (Amiga) - An AI Shoot 'em up through Steam rebuilt for the Amiga 1200 by Coze

Another Amiga game to talk about and it's the latest release of Heliobane, a new vertical shoot-'em-up developed by Coze for the Commodore Amiga 1200 AGA, a custom retro rebuild of World 1 from the upcoming PC Steam game. Players step into the cockpit of the HB-0 Heliobane, a specialized prototype ship flown by pilot Wren, tasked with exploring the blazing star Aurel. The mission is a desperate defensive war against the Umbrine: a parasitic, crystalline hive mind that has awoken inside the sun after already consuming two entire planets. Spanning five intense stages and upgradable weaponry, each zone wraps up with a massive Herald boss that fills the entire display, making for high-stakes encounters with a push for that ever increasing high score.

The standalone Amiga files are available for download alongside packaged emulated versions ready to play on current operating systems like Windows, macOS, and Linux. Meanwhile, fans looking for the definitive modern version can check out the official Heliobane Site to read more about the expansive, full-scale release—boasting three worlds and fifteen stages—which is scheduled to hit Steam in November 2026.

  3. I have to leave a review of this game, because a lot of people might be put off by the fact that it was made with AI. But it's genuinely impressive: the special effects, the sheer number of particles on screen, and the graphics themselves. Everything fits together, and you really feel that every element belongs to the same world. The digitized speech does the job too. The gameplay is fun, and the music suits the game's atmosphere perfectly.

I'm hugely impressed that something like this was made with AI. Obviously a human was overseeing it, but the result is outstanding in my book. The more games of this quality, the better. Highly recommended!
