Prohibition Remake - JavaCPC Games owner remakes a classic Amstrad shooter in Java

Markus Hohmann of JavaCPC Games has contacted us to let us know about the latest Amstrad Java remake of Prohibition that is available for download for PC and Mac. First released in the early 80's in the Arcades and then ported over to the Amstrad in 1987 by Inforgrams, this remake is of the Amstrad version and features gun blasting first person action with mouse support, tv filters, difficulty modes, and even sweet swinging background music.

Space Pest Control - Jump and Shooter platformer in dev for the Amstrad CPC

This year so far has been pretty decent for the Amstrad CPC, as we've seen a number of games in development or that have been released, that are real eye openers for the ageing 8bit system. Just search Amstrad on our site to get a good idea of what we are talking about. But here we are again with another in development game, ' Space Pest Control ' by Reidrac (Juan J. Martinez), that will hopefully be a submission for the CPC retro Dev 2015 competition.

Let's Go! - Platform runner for the Amstrad CPC is now available

We've just been given the heads up from one of our readers of the recent release of Let's Go! Which is now available for the Amstrad CPC or via the emulator JavaCPC. Developed by A Bearded Dragonz Production (Morri) using AGAS and ESD; Let's Go! is a platformer with a difference! A Run and Stop platformer to reach the end flag, that forces to the player to hit the space bar to stop him from running into obstacles, which is then limited by time. The longer you hold, the less time you have to complete a level.

JavaCPC Desktop - The best Amstrad CPC emulator reaches version 2.9m

As someone who uses both real hardware and emulators, it's great being able to play games either from the real thing or through a PC using the latest software. For some going on Ebay and spending hundreds of pounds if not thousands of pounds playing every single game they remember just to have an original on a 30 year old computer just isn't always possible. Now many of you have heard how amazing WinUAE is for the Amiga community, but did you know that our recent feature of the Amstrad emulator 'JavaCPC' is just as good? Well it is, and that emulator today has just reached a brand new build of 2.9m that features a number updates to make this emulator even more brilliant!

Skool Daze - A hit speccy classic getting an Amstrad CPC port! [UPDATE]

Skool Daze was released in 1984 for the ZX Spectrum and C64, created by David Reidy and Helen Reidy with the ZX Spectrum version voted the 4th best game of all time in a special issue of Your Sinclair magazine in 2004. It was the only game of it's time that gave you the true 8-bit experience of being at school. In Skool Daze you play as a naughty schoolboy named Eric and his task was to steal the report card from the headmaster's safe, because if you didn't, your parents would not be happy. The game for it's time had so much in it, it really felt like you was at school with such antics to be had! But for all it's charm Skool Daze never appeared on the Amstrad CPC until now! Joseman has announced the classic speccy game is being ported over to the Amstrad CPC using the original source code. JavaCPC Desktop - Impressive CPC emulation and Shadow of the Beast [UPDATE]

A world without emulation, what a thought! No way of playing retro games other than on the system hardware they were designed for and having to spend thousands upon thousands of pounds just to play every game in that retro catalogue. So we have to be thankful for emulation such as the Amstrad CPC - JavaCPC Desktop by Devil Markus (Markus Hohmann), of which we are going to give a quick feature today that does a lot more than play just Amstrad games.
