WarpGate - An early mock up Run'n'Gun possibly coming to the Amiga 1200?

With it being Monday and lots of games to feature, the first one to be mentioned as a heads up from Per Ola, is the mock up 'Run'n'Gun' game called WarpGate. Although the game does have some early footage viewable below or linked here, according to the creator Marchie and his friend who is behind this game. They are hoping to release it for the Amiga 1200 with the hope to release it on other platforms as well down the line. To coincide with the news, the team behind the game have shown what has been created so far using DPaint.

Witch Rescue Service - First teaser shown of an early alpha C64 game

Although we usually wait for games to have a little more development time before showing them on Indie Retro News, one such game that caught our eye that was worth a mention even at such an early stage of development is Carl-Henrik's C64 game 'Witch Rescue Service'; a platformer from Space Moguls creator that has already got positive feedback to continue after showing just a one week project!

Saboteur Amiga - A very early prototype of the 1985 classic on the Amiga

More interesting news today and this one comes from our good friend Erik, as he has shown us an Amiga prototype of ' Saboteur '; an incredible action-adventure game created by Clive Townsend and originally published by Durell Software in 1985 for several 8-bit systems. According to Erik in relation to the footage below, this is his attempt to port it by himself to the Amiga, taking graphics and data from the Unity port and porting it to Blitz Basic.

Alex Kidd teased as an updated test of the Scorpion Engine

In 1987 Sega released the great side-scrolling platform game ' Alex Kidd ' for the Sega Master System console. Although it was first released in Japan in 1986 but internationally in 1987, it was one of the most well known games as it was also built into most Master System II's. For anyone that has played the rather enjoyable original, will be pleased to know as an updated test to the Scorpion Engine on the Amiga, Earok has shown off what the engine can do with a short 1 level demo of Alex Kidd.

New AMIGA 1200 Cases - The brand new Amiga case is nearly here!

Remember when we did the BIG design process feature for A1200.net's new Amiga 1200 Cases? You do good! Because we've got more fresh news as they have officially announced the molds assembly is almost done at 95%. Also as an extra bonus they've manufactured a couple of cases to check and adjust the molds. Basically if you've been wondering these last few months what's been happening to your new Amiga case, worry no longer it's nearly here. ( New exclusive images! )

The rebirth of the Amiga case! A new A1200-Project is born [UPDATE]

After the recent success of the new coloured cases and keycaps for the C64 such as blue, black and red, it probably wouldn't surprise you to know that new case molds are also being created for the Amiga. Although this was mentioned a few days ago, we decided to wait and see if this project was actually coming and not just a rumour. Sure enough through our Commodore Amiga Facebook group of over 10,000 members, Philippe Lang has announced new Amiga case molds and also the possibility of different colours! [New Update]

Armiga - Amiga home made prototype feature sneak peak update

Over the last month or so we've featured the latest home made project of an interesting design called the Armiga. Now before you get your hopes up this is not the next official Amiga, but the Armiga Project which has recently been pushing for funding through an IndieGoGo campaign. The design is built around a modern Dual Core ARM CPU, a custom made floppy controller and a Raspberry Pi. What makes this hardware even more interesting is the fact that it has further features including an Ethernet connection, HDMI, USB connection and the all important SD Card interface for using or saving your own ADF files.  The developers have just released the latest sneak peak trailer, so hopefully it puts your mind to rest if you have any concerns. However this project has a long way to go with only a $9,100 of a $140,000 pledge goal raised so far. Will it succeed? Will the developers persuade the hard line Amiga fan base, only time will tell! - Thanks Gyorgy for the heads up!

Update - I've been in contact with the product developer regarding your question of AGA support, this was the response : AGA is one of the funding goals, but it's quite demanding, so we cannot promise anything yet :). So there you have it!

Armiga - A home made prototype of the next Amiga ( BIG INDIEGOGO UPDATE )

Last month a new project caught my attention, with what looked to be a brand new Amiga design. However at the time it turned out that this was a home made project using a Raspberry PI, a custom controller, Amiga floppy drive, and an SD card device. The Armiga Project (Armiga for short) as it's known, will please many people hoping to be able to play both real Amiga floppy games and those that are stored on the SD device. But today I've just been informed there is even more to this Armiga than meets the eye, and they have set up an IndieGoGo campaign for us to pledge and get our hands on this nice bit of kit. With a $140,000 Goal and further features including Ethernet connection, HDMI and USB connections, this is one to drool over!

Armiga - A home made prototype of the next Amiga?

This new project certainly caught Indie Retro News's eye, especially when you see the internals of the latest design from #Armiga Project. Using a Raspberry PI, a custom controller and the Amiga floppy drive, you can play Amiga games by using the original floppy dumps. With the latest picture it shows the ability to use SD cards as well, which probably means even more games to play at faster speeds. What's more, as it's the Raspberry PI expect handy USB devices and even a custom boot logo. At this moment we have no idea of costs and when we can get our hands on this awesome bit of kit!

My new toy an Amiga 1200, but it wasn't an enjoyable ride!

Ever since I was a kid, I've always at some point had an Amiga 500 in storage. Sadly, my first Amiga 500 was dropped on the floor, thus with smashed keys I chucked every bit of it away, including the games. I've regretted that till this day, especially as the Amiga 500 gave me so much enjoyment with long term gaming sessions through the early 90's. Fast forward to now and it was time to go full pelt, and go back into the world of 32bit gaming, but this time with a vastly superior system, the Amiga 1200! Unlike the 500 this beauty of a system can be upgraded in so many ways, from 4GB cf cards to processor and huge memory upgrades. You thought the 1/2MB expansion was big on the Amiga 500, try 128MB on the 1200!
