In the 80's many of us had the pleasure of playing Ultima V, it was arguably one of the best RPG's ever released which featured a top down playing field with lush landscapes, towns, further detailed dungeons, and an expansive Underworld to explore. So now as a complete surprise to us, Saberman was kind enough to let us know this morning, that Atlan_Roland might be porting that classic game over to the Atari XL/XE. In light of this news not only can you view a video of what's been done so far, but there's a very early version to try below.

The CRPG Book: A Guide to Computer Role-Playing Games launches for pre-orders!
Throughout my youth I've always been an RPG gamer, I used to love playing games such as Dungeon Master, Lands of Lore, Albion or even the later style of Fallout, Baldurs Gate and Dark Messiah. Especially when I get to read a grand story of the adventures ahead, while choosing my own legendary hero to battle demon like foes and the hunt for lost treasures. There's just so many RPG's I've played and enjoyed, that it's also why I'm mentioning this latest announcement of 'The CRPG Book'; a gorgeuos Hard Back pre-order containing 500 pages of highly detailed write ups about those classic games, including a mass load of RPG images.
The Minstrel’s Legend - Open world RPG making its way to the Intellivision
It is a rare thing to mention an open world game coming to an old 70's machine, but here we are with ' The Minstrel's Legend ', which is a brand new RPG developed by Intv Prime, that is making its way to the Intellivision. If you like games such as the Ultima series or even Nethack, then you probably know what to expect with Intv Prime's latest game, as the game mechanics are similar but instead puts you in control of a group of adventures to renew the imprisonment of the demon Xcitticx. If they cannot succeed in a few days, the demon will escape and the game will be lost.
Lawless Legends - Retro styled RPG crawler gets new footage!
What do you get if you add in a touch of the original classic Ultima, a slice of the old Might and Magic, and add in a gun slinging blend of the Wild West? Most likely ' Lawless Legends ', which is a fantasy role playing game set in the wild west for the Apple II, C64, & other modern platforms! The game has been in development for some time now but already the gameplay, the detail and everything else about the game, certainly does give us an early indication of a worthy retro inspired title that may come out in 2016. To coincide with this news, the developers have for the last couple of months released more media through their website and Facebook.
