Thunder Child - This work in progress Intellivision Shoot 'em up looks EPIC!

I have a bit of a soft spot for the Intellivision, especially with some fantastic games announced on our site such as Intellivania, Gooninuff, and Oh Mummy! Well here we are with another awesome news story for the Intellivision community, as winterworks GmbH is working on an EPIC Shoot 'em up called 'Thunder Child'. A game that doesn't just feature upgradeable weapons and powerups, but smooth scrolling parallax backgrounds and lots of levels. To coincide with this news, we've got some early footage of the game below.

Dragowfall - A nod to 80's Intellivision games by Heracleum for the PC ( Online too! )

A rather unusual bit of news this afternoon, as thanks to a heads up by a good friend of ours, we've been told it might be worth checking out this downloadable and online playable game mash up of Dragowfall. What makes this game worth checking out you ask? Well according to the website, Dragowfall is a mashup of 3 games from the 80's, in the style of Intellivision, all glued together to form a more intense chivalry-themed adventurous experience! To coincide with this news, we've got some gifs from the game, as well as some further information about Shadowfax, Pitfall! and Dragonfire that have been mashed together.

Gooninuff - A new Intellivision game with an inspiration to The Goonies goes FREE!

There's so many of us that remember The Goonies, a movie about a group of young misfits called The Goonies who discover an ancient map and set out on an adventure to find a legendary pirate's long-lost treasure. Well if you too remember it and the game which appeared on the C64, Atari 8bit and Apple II in 1985, you might be interested in todays news. As thanks to Liqmatrix contacting us just recently, he has told us that the AtariAge member of Cmadruga, has made available for FREE the new Intellivision game called 'Gooninuff'; a game which is an Intellivision inspiration to that classic movie.

IntelliVania - Welcome to Castlevania for the Intellivision!

As many of you are aware by now Matthew Kiehl is not only bringing the classic game of Prince of Persia to the Intellivision, but also as we've mentioned previously Mega Man 2. Well if you've been following our posts and remember us also featuring IntelliVania; which is Castlevania built from the ground up for the Intellivision by the same creator Matthew Kiehl. You'll be overjoyed to know, that as of just recently after appearing as a boxed edition some time ago, you now purchase the digital download of the game at the link below.

Ghostbusters - Classic 1984 game of Ghostbusters is coming to the Intellivision

While many of you still remember and love to this day, the classic game of 'Ghostbusters'; a game based on the movie of the same name that was released on many different systems such as the Amstrad, C64 and ZX Spectrum. You'll be pleased to learn that if you have an Intellivision however and didn't get to enjoy that classic game, then we have found out that CM Intellivision Homebrews will be porting the game over as Ghost Busters + for the Intellivision.

Gooninuff - Upcoming Intellivision game with an inspiration to The Goonies

Pretty much all of us remember the movie The Goonies, a movie about a group of young misfits called The Goonies who discover an ancient map and set out on an adventure to find a legendary pirate's long-lost treasure. Well if you remember that classic movie, and the game which appeared on the C64, Atari 8bit and Apple II in 1985, you might be interested in keeping an eye on cmadruga's upcoming game called 'Gooninuff'; a game which is an Intellivision inspiration to that classic movie.

Shadow of the Beast - A proof of concept for the Intellivision available for testing!

As many of you are aware by now Matthew Kiehl is not only bringing the classic game of Prince of Persia to the Intellivision, but also Mega Man 2 and one of my all time favourite games on the NES, Castlevania. Thankfully those games are still in development, especially with IntelliVania coming this year, but the news of today isn't related to those games, as Matthew Kiehl has shown a proof of concept of Shadow of the Beast being loaded and actually played on the Intellivision.

Megaman 2 - HOT NEWS as NES Megaman may be coming to the Intellivision!

There's probably not one person on this page who hasn't heard of Mega Man, the robotic kick ass character who originally started his action packed platforming days in the late 1980's. First released on the NES and one of Capcom's most prolific franchises. We are pleased to shout to the hill tops once more, that the coder behind the upcoming Intellivision conversions of Prince of Persia and Castlevania, is now working on Megaman 2!

Intellivania - Castlevania on the Intellivision? YES INDEED!

This year has been crazy for game announcements, especially with upcoming games such as Risky Rick (Rick Dangerous) coming to the MSX, Alley Cat for the NES, Prince of Persia over to the Intellivision and even an Arcade port of 1942 being developed for the Amiga. But now we are going to go even further, as we've just been told by a good friend of ours, that Matthew Kiehl has shown off brand new footage of his work in progress 'Castlevania' for the Intellivision, as 'Intellivania'!

Prince of Persia - A brilliant retro gaming classic is coming to the Intellivision

This year just keeps on giving for retro gaming news, as just moments ago we were told that the all time classic platformer of 'Prince of Persia' is coming to the Intellivision as a conversion/port by Matthew Kiehl. This game was originally released in 1989 by Brøderbund for multiple systems and featured lots of well designed platforming levels and extreme danger, as you must be careful not to fall through loose floors, get hit by sword wielding guards, crushed by gates or at worst skewered in blood on deadly spikes.

Thio's Odissey - A Wonder Boy clone is coming to the Intellivision

When I was a wee lad spending all my money down at the Arcades, one such game I used to love was that fantastic platformer ' Wonder Boy ' designed by Ryuichi Nishizawa. Instead of those later Wonder Boy games which became more of an adventure platformer with RPG elements. This game was all about a boy who at times rode a skateboard, jumped rocks, and with axe in hand delt with snails, snakes and even bats! Thankfully it seems many others have had a great time with this game, and as a clone to Wonder Boy, KAI MAGAZINE software will be bringing that arcade fun to the Intellivision.

Donkey Kong Junior Intellivision technical demo teased

A rather unusual bit of news this afternoon as thanks to a heads up by our good friends RVG, we have come across a techincal demo of Donkey Kong Junior, which looks to be making its way to the Intellvision at some point in the near future. What makes this news unusual is the fact that not only was the game already released on the Intellivison, but this demo looks highly detailed for an Intellivision game and the developer wants to remain anonymous.

Sydney Hunter & The Sacred Tribe - A new Adventure Platformer is coming to classic systems!

In the early 80's many of us had the pleasure of playing the adventure platformer 'Montezuma's Revenge' on the Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Apple II, ColecoVision, Commodore 64, IBM PC, Sega Master System, or the ZX Spectrum (as Panama Joe). It combined treasure hunting, lots of rooms, puzzle solving and deadly traps and enemies that needed to be avoided almost as if you were playing as Indiana Jones himself. But now we look towards a new game that's coming later this year, 'Sydney Hunter & The Sacred Tribe', which looks every bit as good as that game but coming to the ColecoVision, Intellivision, Sega Master System and perhaps the MSX too!

The Minstrel’s Legend - Open world RPG making its way to the Intellivision

It is a rare thing to mention an open world game coming to an old 70's machine, but here we are with ' The Minstrel's Legend ', which is a brand new RPG developed by Intv Prime, that is making its way to the Intellivision. If you like games such as the Ultima series or even Nethack, then you probably know what to expect with Intv Prime's latest game, as the game mechanics are similar but instead puts you in control of a group of adventures to renew the imprisonment of the demon Xcitticx. If they cannot succeed in a few days, the demon will escape and the game will be lost.

Jr. Pac-Man - Bally Midway's Arcade game is coming to the Intellivision

Lots of gaming news to get through today and the first one is a well known classic Arcade game called ' Jr.Pac-Man ', which is coming to the Intellivision this year by the publishers Intellivision Revolution. This game was first released by Bally Midway way back in 1983 and is based on a child like version of Pac-Man that also has to eat dots in a maze style gaming screen while also avoiding the ghosts. The similarities end there however, as the game features side-scrolling mazes, a lack of exits, and moving prizes that not only destroy energisers but also create large dots that slow the players' movement.

Towering Inferno - Intellivision homebrew with a burning movie inspiration

This could well be our first Intellivision homebrew as only just last month, the developer Kiwi announced a brand new Intellivision game called ' Towering Inferno ', which is inspired by the movie Towering Inferno. Currently in an early stage of development, the developer was originally going to make a top down game called ' Venture ' however after seeing a clip of inferno for the Atari 2600 on Facebook he decided to change over from Venture and convert the engine over to this new game.

GoSub - The Intellivision gets a challenging homebrew and will be available for pre-order

Thanks to a heads up by RetroVideoGamer it is now the Intellivision's time to shine, as a new homebrew cart called ' GoSub! ' will be made available for pre-order. In this challenging arcade game you control a submarine diving deep in the underwater depths in search of treasures and vast wealth. Traversing through dangerous one touch death mazes, you must also avoid the deadly monster octopus that has its tentacles set on you! If you can defend yourself and get to the treasure without dying, the treasure is yours!
