If you loved those 80's and 90's arcade racers such as OutRun, Daytona USA, Super Hang-On, or the fantastic Amiga game Lotus Turbo Challenge, then heads up because I think we have the Kickstarter for you! This is ' Slipstream ' developed by Noctet Studio, an arcade racing game inspired by the visuals, music, games and cars from some of the greatest racers we've come to know growing up, all built in a custom game engine!
But that's not all, as mentioned by Noctet Studio; the soundtrack draws from synthpop and jazz fusion influences, setting the tone for a race across a variety of exotic locations from all around the world, including cities, deserts, forests, mountains and beaches. Drifting and slipstreaming mechanics add depth to the driving gameplay, and the result is a challenging and exciting experience.
This game may have been a Steam Greenlight success based on it's earlier visuals and ideas, but already from what we've seen of the Kickstarter campaign so far, the game has come along way indeed, and almost looks as if it could take on the classics, with a heavy foot pushed completely to the pedal! But if that didn't get your speed adrenaline going, how about the fact the game will offer 4 game modes, 30 different tracks, 4 playable cars and 8 original cars? Got your interest, good, because they need to raise a Kickstarter goal of $6,000 and that's down to you!
Slipstream was approved on Steam Greenlight and will be available on Steam for all major PC platforms: Windows, OS X and Linux. All the game downloads given as rewards will be available for all three platforms.
