Creepy Castle - an 8-Bit style RPG combines retro style with modern gameplay

Creepy Castle is a chiptune, spectrum-style pixel-art retro RPG extravaganza! Brought to you by Dopterra - a collective of retro game enthusiasts and hobbyist game creators with as broad a range of skills as locations around the world have been slaving away to bring you a near-completion retro romp that looks and sounds fresh off any 8-bit classic computer. Just with fresh-as-a-daisy gameplay mechanics, that just needs a final push to finish via Kickstarter funding and Greenlight votes

The game seems pretty epic in scope - a platform side scrolling adventure but with turn based battles and mini-game puzzles spread over many scenarios (2 completed, 2 revealed and even more planned) accompanied by around 30 (so far) chiptune music pieces provided by Marius Schnieder.

The screenshots look great, but the video trailer gameplay animation in concert with the theme music feels like Dopterra have it absolutely nailed for style.

As Dopterra have got the fundamentals of the game finished (concept, game engine, art-style and most music) they just require modest funding to get the content (levels and scenarios) finished and the game as a whole polished to its final glory. A mere $6000 of which they are nearly half way funded after only around a week of campaign time. And of course, Steam Greenlight votes would go a long way in case if they somehow fail the kickstarter goal.

So go check out their Kickstarter campaign
Or vote on Greenlight
