Jail Break - Genre defining Konami shooter fixed for C64s

"Run and gun" games would come a long way in the year or two following the Arcade release of Jail Break by Konami. They would eventually perfect the format 1 year later with the release of Contra in the arcades, and 2 years later saw William's electronics release the excellent Narc, which caught controversy over it's "realistic" digitised sprites and ultra violent theme. However back in 1986, the arcades had not seen anything like this. Even Double Dragon would take another year to reach us. This is Jail break, a pseudo isometric side scrolling shoot em up, where the prisoners have escaped and taken over Manhattan. This release sees the game fixed for NTSC machines and an assortment of handy training modes for The C64 version.

R.I.S.K. - Alien busting action on the C64 with a worthy crack!

I wasn't going to mention the game everyone's talking about... Hostile Alien environments, many varied enemies attacking in swarms, negotiating the planet's surfaces with your blaster equipped skimmer. While trying to determine friend from foe. But if "No Man's Sky" had been released in 1987, it might have looked a bit like this...This is R.I.S.K: Rapid Intercept Seek and Kil.

Gradius +2DMFGH - Mayday present classic Konami bullet hell SHMUP on the C64

You may have played this sidescrolling shoot-em-up under the game's alternative title: "Nemesis". It was a fairly faithful conversion of Japanese coinop: "Gradius". Mayday have cracked and trained the version featuring its original title. This release features a new title screen, high score saver, new documentation and cheats disabling collisions and infinite lives. Essential if like me, you could never beat mission 1.  Fans of the game may also be interested to know the excellent NES version will be included in the forthcoming Nintendo Mini NES.
