Deuteros - One of the best Amiga/Atari ST Space Strategy games, you've got to play!

It's time to share one of the greatest Space Strategy games ever created on the Amiga and the ST which has been updated via TheCompany.PL as an easily PC launchable file and inclusive graphical filters (F12). The game is none other than DEUTEROS, which was designed by Ian Bird and released in 1991 and is set some 800 years after Millennium, in a time when mankind has won the struggle to make the Earth habitable again but lost its spacefaring capabilities, which it is seeking to regain.

R.I.S.K. - Alien busting action on the C64 with a worthy crack!

I wasn't going to mention the game everyone's talking about... Hostile Alien environments, many varied enemies attacking in swarms, negotiating the planet's surfaces with your blaster equipped skimmer. While trying to determine friend from foe. But if "No Man's Sky" had been released in 1987, it might have looked a bit like this...This is R.I.S.K: Rapid Intercept Seek and Kil.

Orion Trail - Oregon trail in space gets rapid greenlight

Way back in the mists of 8-Bit computing was a little game on the Apple II that was meant to be a somewhat educational game teaching you about the perils of frontier American life. Oregon Trail aimed to teach kids about the real life experiences of heading out on the real Oregon Trail which according to just about anyone who remembers playing it, meant dying of dysentery in new and exciting ways... Orion Trail is taking that formula into SPAAAAAAACE!

Now developed by David Karnok which features a ton of improvements over the original game, from a new trade screen, to AI improvements to high quality graphics and random galaxy generators. An incredible open source title of which we rate very highly on Indie Retro News. So head on over to the changelog list and grab the latest version.

Deuteros Remakes - Top quality space strategy revival

When people say to me what game do you remember the most, I'm usually quick to respond with Deuteros on the Amiga 500. It was a game like no other, a sci-fi space strategy game in which you mined for resources on the planet and from asteroids, researched new technology, and built ships to colonize the stars. Yet what made this Ian Bird game so brilliant was not only was it a sequel to the previous hit Millennium 2.2, it had a unique space design style that I feel no game has matched. Yet through all these years and talks of a remake, it wasn't until this year that two fans (Gambit/bfernhout) set about reintroducing the game into the PC crowd.

Deuteros - Strategy PC remake gets a v140919 update

Rejoice as the next Deuteros (Ian Bird) remake version is now available to download. Play an early alpha remake build of one of the finest Space Strategy games ever released. Research new technology, colonize the stars, mine for resources and defend yourself against the Martians in a sequel to another great classic, Millennium 2.2.

Deuteros : The Next Millennium - New Alpha V0.0.19 Remake Release!

A small mention to our previous main feature, you'll be pleased to know that the remake of the incredible 1991 space strategy game Deuteros has now been updated to a new alpha V0.0.19 release. The developer of the PC remake "Gambit", has added a new options screen, more sounds and fixes to the research and production scene. Please note though that this is alpha and is in no way playable, plus there is also an issue with the GFX of which the developer is using and may well have to be redone. Read on for the changelog

Deuteros : The Next Millennium - New Alpha V.0.1.16 Remake Release!

Originally designed by Ian Bird and released in 1991 as a sequel to Millennium 2.2, Deuteros was an incredible Space Strategy game for it's time and I feel there is nothing like it still today. The object of the game was to mine resources, research new tech and to colonize further out into the solar system. But it was both the construction, the story, the immersion, the space battles and ship control which set it above many of the games even released today. So gamers that remember this fine title will be pleased to know that a PC fan based remake is now in the works by Gambit.

Deuteros X - A Strategy remake that was in the works!

Game Type : Space Strategy
Game Info from our previous article : Designed by Ian Bird and released in 1991. The game is set some 800 years after the Millennium, in a time when mankind has won the struggle to make the Earth habitable again but lost its spacefaring capabilities, which it is seeking to regain. This is no ordinary space game and so far there has been no game like it since. The object of the game is to mine resources, research new tech and to colonize further out into the solar system. Don't expect amazing graphics but do expect deep thoughtful gameplay with thousands of drones fighting away at each other as you battle to defend yourself against the Methanoids.  If you decide to give up it's rather satisfying hitting the Self Destruct button, the nuke button oh and you can even chill out with the Music Box which comes later. This is a game NOT to be missed
Remake News : It came as a surprise yesterday to find out that Deuteros was going to have a remake called Deuteros X. Simply searching for a Deuteros wallpaper was met with a number of screenshots that I have never seen before and it turned out that a remake was in progress, however it has recently stalled due to the developer's lack of willing to commit. Which is a shame as other programmers need the files to keep the Remake going. But from what i've seen of the work in progress and temporary screenshots it looked like a worthy remake and got me all tingly inside, lets hope it does end up being finished!
Release : TBA(Currently Stalled)
Systems : PC

StarDrive - High Quality 4X Action Space Strategy (CLOSED BETA AVAILABLE)

I love 4x space strategy games and this looks right on the planetary universe scale, this is StarDrive which is a 4x Action-Space-Strategy game, where the goal is to build a space empire. Now I know we've had a lot of 4x space strategy games in the past and upcoming ones, but a good number of them have dashed my space dreams. But everything about this game could make it a worthy classic, we shall see.

As with most games of this type you Start with a single planet and a small number of space vessels in which to travel the stars. The basic goal of this action space strategy game? Head out into the galaxy, explore new worlds, build new colonies, and discover the StarDrive universe.

Deep Space Settlement - Space RTS

This is Deep Space Settlement, a real-time space strategy game, focused on empire building and grand-scale space battles. A game genre that I am very fond of, especially as I couldn't put down games such as Deuteros on the Amiga. The empire building aspect of Deep Space Settlement is the taking care of your economy and your population. This is done by building defenses, expanding, exploring and exploiting new resources. By building stations you can essentially transform resources into other resources. An economy is based on production and consumption.
