Day of the Tentacle - An adventure classic unofficial remake in the works!

2014 is turning out to be a great year for both new gamers and retro enthusiasts, as not only did we have classic games like Ambermoon, Deuteros and Shadow of the Beast Legacy to play, but awesome AAA games such as Alien and Wolfenstein: New Order. So it's with great pleasure to announce that the 1993 hit classic "Day of the Tentacle" is getting an unofficial remake!

Day of the Tentacle originally developed by Lucasarts, also known as Maniac Mansion II: Day of the Tentacle, was an adventure sequel to another hit game Maniac Mansion in which both games are regarded as some of the best adventure games ever made. Fast forward to today and the developer of this remake "Feenyx" has announced that this new remake of the game will allow the player to replay this classic game with much improved graphics that have been redesigned in Flash and then imported to AGS.

However for those of you wanting to play the remake now will be disappointed as it's in very early stages of development and would hardly be called a pre-alpha.

Story: 24%
Scripting: 50%
Static Graphics: 90%
Animations: 1%
Sound/Music: 0%

I remain hopeful the developer will finish the game sometime in 2015, but at the moment he is looking for a team to help him finish the remake. So let's just hope it doesn't get canned!

  1. This was the game I got my first PC for in talkie form, i dont really think the graphics need updating, they still look great 20 years later.

  2. Probably ease of use more than anything for the more modern gamer or those that don't have the original. ScummVM or Dosbox works wonders though :)
