Mystic Realm Dizzy - Dizzy finally makes an appearance on the Pico-8!

While many of us are still celebrating the 30 year anniversary of Dizzy, and finding it hard to put down the latest Dizzy remake of 'Crystal Kingdom Dizzy' on the ZX Spectrum, we are pleased to share with you a Dizzy game made on the Pico-8 as Mystic Realm Dizzy! Unlike all the fan games that have appeared on the PC and the special remake on the ZX, Dizzy has made an appearance on the Pico-8 and has been made by SophieHoulden with music by gruber (a brilliant pico-8 version of the Amiga Magicland Dizzy theme).

When I first heard of a Dizzy fan game on the Pico-8 I really wasn't expecting much, but Mystic Realm Dizzy on the Pico-8 by SophieHoulden has just blown me away. Closing my eyes and without playing, I could really imagine myself playing the Amiga version with that sweet music by Gruber. But actually playing the game, it's as if I'm playing a very tiny pixelated real Dizzy game, with all the awesome game play intact. It's a brilliant work of software coding by Sophie as all the charm of a Dizzy game is here, with the characters, items and stars still intact. What's more this is just a beta and if you wait long enough, you'll be able to play the full game with everything fully playable.... I can't wait.
