Possibly the best retro gaming news for today, is the latest 128k remaster of 'Turrican' for the Amstrad CPC; a hit classic originally released in 1990 by Rainbow Arts and programmed by Manfred Trenz. For what I would class as the ultimate run jump and shoot action game, Turrican and its sequels such as Turrican II is a game series that is set in the heart of millions of Retro fans across the world. They had great shooting action, amazing game play and the most awesome of sound tracks by Chris Huelsbeck and Jochen Hippel(ST Version).
According wikipedia, " Turrican is a 1990 video game developed by Manfred Trenz. It was developed for the Commodore 64 by Rainbow Arts, and was ported to other systems later. In addition to concept design and character creation, Trenz programmed Turrican on the Commodore 64. A sequel, Turrican II: The Final Fight, followed in 1991 for the Commodore 64 and other platforms. Factor 5 handled the Amiga, Atari ST and CDTV versions, while the Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum were developed by Probe Software". As for what this remaster contains, it features not just AY music, but also new graphics such as the main character, titles and hud all created by Benjamin Yoris and JMB!
