Micro Gotek - Move over chunky Gotek Floppy Emulator it's time to go Micro

At the beginning of this year we did a big feature packed review of the Gotek Floppy Emulator; a hardware device that allowed you to use USB memory sticks to load floppy files, on not just an Amiga, but an Atari, Amstrad and many others! Now it seems the original Gotek might be about to go the way of the DODO bird, as today we've come across the Micro Gotek, a Gotek Floppy Emulator that's so small it's only 47x46 mm!

The Amstrad CPC 6128 USB Internal Floppy Emulator Hardware Review!

It's been awhile since we've done any hardware reviews and now thanks to Zaxon (Piotr Bugaj), creator of the DDI3 USB Floppy Emulator and the Amstrad CPC 6128 USB Floppy device we have a new hardware device to review; the Amstrad CPC 6128 USB Internal Floppy Emulator. This latest hardware from Zaxon replaces the disk drive and enables the Amstrad to run disk files from an USB memory stick with clearly visible LCD display. But is this latest addition to the Amstrad worthy of a purchase? Check out our review and find out.

The Amstrad CPC 6128 USB Floppy Emulator Hardware + New sound board addition!

Through last month we did two big hardware reviews for the Amstrad community, one of those was the DDI3 USB Floppy Emulator for the Amstrad CPC 464 and the other was The Amstrad CPC 6128 USB Floppy Emulator. Both of these hardware reviews were very popular and it's because of that, a good number of Amstrad users are now proud owners of these two devices developed by Zaxon also known as Piotr Bugaj. But the news of today is, the 6128 USB Floppy Emulator is going to be upgraded with a new sound board, which adds disk loading sounds, just like an original disk drive.

The Amstrad CPC 6128 USB Floppy Emulator Hardware BIG Review!

After our BIG review for the DDI3 USB Floppy Emulator for the Amstrad CPC 464, developed by Zaxon also known as Piotr Bugaj. We thought it was about time the Amstrad 6128 also had a device of its own, so it too could play demo's and games stored on a USB memory stick. Thankfully Zaxon was happy to help and after a couple of months of teasing at the design stage, we finally have ' The Amstrad CPC 6128 USB Floppy Emulator ' in our hands for the second of our Amstrad reviews!

DDI3 USB Floppy Emulator for the Amstrad CPC 464 BIG Review!

When Indie Retro News began its life some years ago, most of our hardware reviews have either been for the C64 or specific Everdrives for retro based consoles such as the Sega Mega Drive and NES. However we have never done a review of anything for the Amstrad CPC 464 or 6128 because at the time there were no new external SD attachments specific for that hardware, at least until now. This is the 'DDI3 USB Floppy Emulator for the Amstrad CPC 464' by a rather talented designer by the name of Zaxon also known as Piotr Bugaj, who has created some impressive pieces of kit for systems such as this Amstrad and even the ZX Spectrum!

Amstrad GX4000 console converted to an Amstrad 6128 plus

You may or may not know this but there is a highly talented individual out there by the name of Piotr Bugaj that does some pretty impressive modifications and new builds of retro based hardware. He is well known in our community for creating not just the JUST CPC 128k but also the JUST SPECCY 128k as well. Implementations for the Speccy include dimensions to fit in a rubber 48, clone of 128 toastrack with addons, 128kb memory, DivSD on board, RGB video output, kempston interface and stereo AY output. Whereas the Just CPC 128k features 128k ram, DDI-floppy interface, LM2596 power supply, 2x MX4 slots, RGB out and a PS/2 keyboard interface. Two incredible builds, but today's feature is something even more special, it's the Amstrad GX4000 converted to an Amstrad 6128 plus.
