Super Cars III - PC remake of a top down racing classic!

What a great Boxing Day gift, as JOTD has just released the very latest PC version of "Super Cars III" which is his own remake of the hit action racing classic "Super Cars II". Originally developed by Magnetic Fields and published by Gremlin Graphics in the early 90's for Amiga & Atari ST, as you race around tough tracks, earning money, then purchasing better weapons and power-ups to beat the competition in one of the best top down Amiga racing games. Supercars III by JOTD is a Java / GTGE-powered remake of classic Super Cars / Super Cars II game from the Atari ST / Amiga, with stuff borrowed from those games and also from Supercars International (MS-DOS).

Features:
  • high-resolution graphics (slight enhancements to original graphics, rendered graphics)
  • enhanced sound
  • 2 player mode
  • all SC1 and SC2 circuits
  • Car selection
  • Trains and gates
  • Communication screens!!
  • Full range of weapons
  • Powerful track editor
  • Shades/shadows
  • moving gates
  • almost fully localized (available languages: english, french)
  • Shop and repair
  • Tries to keep up with the Supercars II "spirit"
Download (A lot of nasty bugs fixed & some improvements.)

  2. I did note an issue with Linux as well, so thought it best to stick with PC for the time being. Cheers for the heads up though F6

  3. Hey guys, not sure how far you got, but here's what I did to launch it on Linux:

    - add executable permissions to the two .sh files in /bin/ as well as to that golden...jar file in /lib/
    - then just cd to the game root and run "sh bin/Supercars3.sh"

However, after the main menu, when the first level started loading, I got a heap mem error... and running it after that killed my Xorg session (so far I've noticed it also reset my terminal profile, which is weird). Hopefully you'll be able to load the level as well.
