In June 2014 I had the pleasure of playing "The Last Door" by The Game Kitchen ; one of the best adventure horror games of 2014 for the PC(link). Not only did it have that nostalgic sierra style to it, but it also had an incredible episodic story, with some fine scary moments thrown in as well. Well this PC game may be coming to the Amiga! As during the Posadas 2025 Homebrew Games competition, an Amiga preview of the game was shown by Daniel Pontiveros: A game which was made available for download and even came 4th in the competition!
Sadly, apart from an exe download, there's no game description, I don't know if it's going to be turned into a full game and I can't even see what the game was created with. But for those of you who do remember the PC version which is still available to play today. The original version featured a Unique low-res visuals that create a rare and unnerving inmersive look and feel, had an original orchestral soundtrack composed by Carlos Viola, and was inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe all set in real locations!
UPDATE : The author of the port has responded in comments in regards to my latest article above and was quoted as saying. "The game is developed in conjunction with Blitz Basic 2.10. Please excuse the lack of information; this is my first contribution to the Amiga scene, and I was incredibly nervous at Posadas Party. I'm working on the final version. You'll be able to play on your Amiga soon 😎".

I welcome new adventure games to the Amiga, but it looks a little too pixelated for me. Amiga adventures Like Monkey Island etc... had more detail. I hope they can change that.
ReplyDeleteExactly like the original.... I played episode 1 and was hooked, but from then on the pixelation just became too heavy on the eyes :o
DeleteHi! I'm Dani, the author of the port. I'm working on the final version. You'll be able to play on your Amiga soon.
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic, thank you!! I'll update the article soon :)
DeleteHi Dani, great job! How did you get the graphics - did you redraw everything? Will the music also be in the Amiga port?
DeleteHi! I'm using the original graphics and adapting them to the Amiga's resolution. The music is impossible. The idea is to have the game run on a stock Amiga 1200. I'm working with a great musician who's sure to do a great job.
DeleteThe game is developed in conjunction with Blitz Basic 2.10. Please excuse the lack of information; this is my first contribution to the Amiga scene, and I was incredibly nervous at Posadas Party.
ReplyDeleteNICE!
DeleteImpressive job so far! I bet no one was expecting a modern game to be ported to Amiga. Really cool!
Deletethe great, underrated Blitz Basic 2.1. Awesome work so far
DeleteLooks great! Thank you so much and much luck!!!
DeleteI absolutely loved this game on PC, and I wish they'd make more episodes. I want to know what happens next!
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention "Next", a port of this game to the ZX Spectrum Next would be interesting.
DeleteThe music can be the same with a CD-32 version.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the music was important in this game.
DeleteThe music can be the same with a 1200+HD version too.
