Xeno Genesis - A possibly unheard of Amiga shoot'em up action game has been recovered

The Commodore Amiga community may have just witnessed a piece of digital history resurface: a seemingly unpreserved shoot 'em up titled Xeno Genesis by Demantoid Productions. Published by Danish PD/Shareware distributor Cat Computer Club, but screenshots shows the original publisher was meant to be Microvalue. While helping his brother clear out his loft, a user discovered a box of old Amiga disks. Among the common titles was this mystery game, which—despite the harsh storage conditions of the last 20+ years—successfully booted on the first try after a quick cleaning to remove dust and a stray spider leg.

Initial searches on definitive databases like the Hall of Light (HOL) and Lemon Amiga have yielded zero results for this title or the three developers listed on the disk. While it could have been a polished homebrew release or a forgotten demo, the production quality suggests it was intended as a serious release. The game has now been preserved as an ADF (Amiga Disk File) using WinUAE, ensuring this potential "one-of-a-kind" copy survives.  Do you have any leads on Demantoid Productions, or do you remember seeing this game in a PD (Public Domain) library back in the day?

  1. It's crazy to think how many more games and software got lost like this and how much more stuff was never preserved.

  2. Maybe I'm missing something but I dont understand why there isn't a download link when it has already been made into a adf. What is the purpose of preserving it if no one can get it?

  4. @zybexisme242 You just need patience. Stuff does get spread around eventually. There's already a few places to download Xeno Genesis from now. (:

Anyways, it was found out that this game was actually previously dumped. The reason we didn't know about its existence is because the file was simply named "cat_computer_club_juni_d1.adf". Name your files better, people! ;)

Last but not least: There's an alien spaceship in Xeno Genesis where you need bunch of 4-digit codes to access the nine teleporters. Presumably a copy protection thing, because there's no way to find these out within the game itself. Thankfully the user Titus7 figured out the codes using the WinUAE debugger. Here's all the codes:

    Teleporter #1 = 3582
    Teleporter #2 = 6908
    Teleporter #3 = 3541
    Teleporter #4 = 3490
    Teleporter #5 = 2763
    Teleporter #6 = 9007
    Teleporter #7 = 1555
    Teleporter #8 = 0117
    Teleporter #9 = 4089
