Speed Maniax - A Super Cars-like game is recovered as a Demo for the Commodore Amiga

Retro racing fans have a rare opportunity to experience a piece of "lost" Amiga history with the latest demo 5 download of SpeedManiaX, a Super Cars like racer, that Luigi Recanatese says "is intended to represent the evolution of the game 30 years after its conception". While Aminet currently hosts the most recent version, Demo 5, which was uploaded in late April 2026, provided below is a bit of back story, as well as some gameplay footage from Saberman.

Xeno Genesis - A possibly unheard of Amiga shoot'em up action game has been recovered

The Commodore Amiga community may have just witnessed a piece of digital history resurface: a seemingly unpreserved shoot 'em up titled Xeno Genesis by Demantoid Productions. Published by Danish PD/Shareware distributor Cat Computer Club, but screenshots shows the original publisher was meant to be Microvalue. While helping his brother clear out his loft, a user discovered a box of old Amiga disks. Among the common titles was this mystery game, which—despite the harsh storage conditions of the last 20+ years—successfully booted on the first try after a quick cleaning to remove dust and a stray spider leg. 

Trap - A lost prototype originally a C64 release appears on the Atari XL/XE!

Throughout the years we've featured many lost and recovered games, this is especially true when it comes to either the Amiga or the Commodore 64. Well, today's news is a bit of a special one. As if you have an Atari XL/XE however, we've been told that the 1986 game 'Trap', which featured music by Ben Daglish, has been recovered as a prototype for the Atari XL/XE. A game whereby some have commented for the Commodore 64 version, that it requires patience to play, is rather difficult but was one of Antony Crowther better C64 games.

Dragon Wars - A 1989 Interplay Productions RPG has been recovered for the Commodore Plus/4

The Plus/4 World website has surprised us with a new recovery! As they have informed the community, that the 1989 Interplay Productions RPG has been recovered for the Commodore Plus/4 by Csory. A game that not only made an appearance on many other systems, but this game was originally created by the talents of the Bard's Tale series, Wasteland, and Battle Chess in the hope to create the ultimate role-playing fantasy. Penguin Tower - An enjoyable Bomberman clone for the C64 has been recovered and released!

We've been flooded with awesome news lately, from Super Bagman for the Commodore Amiga, to the overhauled Kung Fu Master on the Amstrad and Stunt Car Racer for the Apple II. Well we are going over to the C64 for some gaming news, as thanks to Saberman contacting us recently, he has told us that the 1994 game of 'Penguin Tower' has been recovered and released. A game that was in development by Jani Hirvo, and thought lost for all time when Jon Wells tried to make an arrangement with the coder to distribute the game in the UK and sell across Europe back in the 90's.
