No Back Down - A vertical scrolling arcade by game studio SoCal for the MSX

Possibly the last retro gaming article today so others don't get pushed off the page and yes I'm a bit tired, is a brand new game for the MSX called 'No Back Down'. This game developed by SoCal (Vincent, Sylvian, Cedric) for the MSXDev 21 competition, is a vertical scrolling Arcade game in which you need to climb huge towering buildings with caution, because one wrong move and escaping the local law enforcement wont be the only thing you'll be worried about..... You'll probably fall!

Heart Stealer 2 - Liked VVVVV? Then you might this new MSX game by Timmy!

Next up on the list of games available to download and play, and of course another entry in the MSXDev21 competition, is a new game for the MSX by Timmy called Heart Stealer 2; a very challenging VVVVV style game, which in itself is a remake of a game that was originally released on ZX Spectrum in 2013 by the same author. A new platformer in which you need to bounce, flow, and defy gravity in order to seek and collect hearts to win the game!

PAC-01 - A new variation on the Pac-Man theme enters the MSXDev21 competition

We've featured Pac-Man many times now on Indie Retro News, and even just recently we got a heads up in regards to an Arcade to Amiga conversion of Pac-Man which is coming to the Amiga via JOTD. Well here's another variation of the Pac-Man theme, and it's PAC-01. A relentless vertical scrolling game in which you need to not only eat the pills, but munch on enemies to level up, eat fruit to increase your score, and avoid being hurt by the pool of game glitches coming out of the Green computer glitch at the bottom.

Alien Attack - A fully loaded, all-in, Zanac-like vertical shooter for the MSX

It's crazy how many Shoot 'em ups we feature on Indie Retro News, I know for sure the C64 and ZX Spectrum has certainly had its fair share of homebrew blasters on our website. Well now it's time for the MSX to get in on the fun. As we've recently been told through Facebook, that you can now download a rather cool looking Shoot 'em up called 'Alien Attack'. A game that the MSXDev competition has said is "A fully loaded, all-in, Zanac-like vertical shooter that blows you out of your socks and rips your pants off, if you’re not careful".
