Celeste - A lovely Indie game gets a PC/MAC/Linux release
Putting aside the retro games and the hardware reviews, we now look towards an Indie game called 'Celeste', which was developed by Matt Makes Games, the same creator behind the excellent the TowerFall Series. This game that was released just recently, doesn't just look like a very pretty game spanning over 700 screens, but according to the developer, looks to pull you in with a narrative-driven, single-player adventure like mom used to make, with a charming cast of characters and a touching story of self-discovery
Necrocosmos - 16-bit style action puzzler looks for kickstarter funding
Necrocosmos is a pretty, 8/16-bit inspired and styled bullet hell shooter/run'n'gun/puzzle'em up space metroidvania style adventure. Yeah that's right, Andromeda Project aims to fuse all these styles into one grand homage to the golden era of gaming, and from the looks of it, they have a good chance to pull it off!
Desync – Neon FPS Arena game prepares for steam launch
Developers The Foregone Syndicate seem to be gearing up for a release of their upcoming title Desync. Currently in closed beta, with a projected release of simply 2016, Desync looks much more than a glowy Quake 3 Arena. Desync is more than just Pick-a-weapon-and-shoot- the-other-guy focusing on creative attack sequences to magnify your kill score.
Shutter - Atmospheric Horror gets an update on Steam
Cosmic Logic games have just released the V1.10 update to their Atmospheric horror puzzle game Shutter. In Shutter, the puzzles are all viewed from fixed camera perspectives a-la the original Resident Evil, and via a RC drone bot sent inside a creepy house to do your bidding.
Hyphen - Neon Rage Puzzler finally on Steam
I've had Hyphen knocking around my PC for what seems like an age now, yes, I have a totally love-hate relationship with it and like a battered girlfriend, I keep coming back for more... and after a very long drawn out Greenlight campaign, Hyphen finally got the vote and today has been released on Steam, complete with 20 unlockable achievements!
MiniFlake - Retro 1-Bit Dungeon Crawler (Help get this on Steam) :o)
miniFlake is a retro 1-bit mod-able rogue-like dungeon crawler, that is currently being developed for PC, Mac Vita and PS Vita by Wolfgang Wozniak and his wolfgame development team. The game is set in the SilverQuest universe with a black & white art style reminiscent of old D+D monster manuals and players handbooks while gameplay is influenced by pen and paper RPG's with dungeons being procedurally generated like the classic dungeon crawler Rogue.

Do you have 10 minutes to kill? Do you like NES style RPG's? Are you on your lunch break, bored out of your mind, dreading having to go back to work, and wondering what you can do to liven up the precious free time that you have left until it is back to the grind? Iron Fisticle - Arcade Style Arena Shooter
Iron Fisticle is a newly released arcade style arena shooter game developed by Curve Studios that harkens back to the style of gameplay that you would find after inserting coins into the machines of Gauntlet and Robotron at your local arcade. Waves of enemies swarm towards you as you shoot them down with arrows, slice them up with axes, and destroy all in sight with your magical weapons, looting all the treasure you can, while you try to stay alive.
Mighty Retro Zero - 8-Bit style bonkers platform mashup looking for Greenlight votes
I've seen some bonkers games in my time, notably Jet Set Willy and pretty much anything to come from the house of Minter, but I think I can honestly say Mighty Retro Zero tops them all. Steam user Kronbits (Davit Masia) has jammed together just about every 8-bit genre I can think of into one bizarre yet beautiful fest of explodey fat pixels.
Z: Steel Soldiers - Multi-platform update to a 3D classic RTS
Back in 2001, legendary game producer The Bitmap Brothers released a 3D update to their futuristic Real Time Strategy war game Z with Steel Soldiers. Well Things have moved on a little since then and what was once pretty tasty in the 3D hardware department has now been well and truly bettered even in mobile 3D, and TickTock Games have given Z:SS modern makeover with a special release just for nVidia Tegra(and others to follow.)
Lakeview Cabin Collection - A horror-com sandbox puzzler goes looking for greenlight votes
Roope Tamminen AKA hypnohustler is graduating his flash sandbox, puzzle solving, horror adventure "Lakeview Cabin" into a full blown desktop release and is looking for Greenlight support votes for a group of sequels. The pixel-art style has been given the boot, being replaced with a smooth cartoony vector style, while the scope goes from just a single player character on a small section of lakeside, to taking control of multiple characters a-la Day of the Tentacle across several horror genres and locations, from the original lakeside log cabin to Aliens style in space.

Mudlarks - Classic point and click adventure title with a hint of quirkiness!
For those interested in classic point and click adventure titles with a hint of quirkiness then Mudlarks might be for you. The developer describes it as having elements of 'science fiction' and the 'supernatural', but judging from the looking at the game, I'd also say a good dose of humour too.
'The Bard's Tale'- a tale worth telling, if you're a cartographer. (Guest Review)
‘The Bard’s Tale’ is a critically successful dungeon crawler
trilogy with its first installment; Tales of the Unknown: Version 1 having been
released in 1985. This game is your classic RPG that also bares an extremely
close resemblance to ‘Wizardry’ though with upgraded graphics and some
additional, innovative game play elements. The game features your standard turn
based combat, first person dungeon crawling that will leave you painstakingly
mapping out the maze-like dungeons and also riddle based puzzles that will have
you trekking back to another dungeon just to find the answer. 'The Bard’s Tale'
is a classic case of what 1985 contributed to the world of RPG gaming; lots of
hard work, punishingly difficult battles, and a great sense of accomplishment
when you finally kill the bad guy. If you enjoy a good old RPG that’s not so much
focused on the story but rather on the game play then you should definitely try
out this game.
