Megacom Games has just begun a Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight campaign for what I would class as the coolest looking retro styled racer we've seen this year so far. Set in a futuristic 2000 but developed in a 1980's cinematic sci-fi style, 'Power Drive 2000' is a space aged time warp into an era of psychedelic colours with a totally radical Synthwave soundtrack!
In Power Drive 2000 you drive a technologically advanced sports car and through trial and error over incredible tracks with tight corners must learn the ways of drifting and boosting. Charge the "Turbo" meter and boost to gain some wicked speed to become the number 1. The game also features many unique game modes such as a Race Mode, Collector Mode, Outrun Mode, Vaporizer Mode, Gauntlet Mode and a Turbo Mode, with most modes supporting online and split screen multiplayer.
Furthermore 'Power Drive 2000' features an incredible soundtrack that will keep that adrenaline going as you push towards the finish line. Artists include Vector Hold, Mega Drive, Absolute Valentine, Amplitude Problem, Dance With the Dead, Carpenter Brut, Dan Terminus, Killstarr, Dynatron, Dream Fiend, Niky Nine, MOXX, Gost, Starbound, Sung, TEMPHUiBIS, Garth Knight, NightStop, Kalax, Ex-Machina and Opus Science Collective, Jepzon.
Certainly impressive for a racer, but as for the game being a success that's down to you. They need to reach a $45,000 goal on Kickstarter and get lots of thumbs up via Steam Greenlight.
