Geek 2014 - The Fantastic Gaming Expo - Margate 21st-23rd Feb 2014
You might have noticed the lack of posts today, and for that reason, I was at Geek 2014 in Margate, Kent, UK! Although I wasn't press this time, as it was my sisters turn, it was still worth taking the time to check out the latest games and retro classics. As soon as I walked into the first hall, I noticed that the set up was different, geared more towards retro handheld systems and cool geeky for sale items, and retro goods. There was also no BBC and no Grannies Garden upstairs! However, playing massive Gameboys that are about the size of you and I, certainly adds to the experience, and you just know you are in for a treat. I also happened to play Micro Machines in a very different style, instead of using gamepads, they were actually in-built into little toy cars. Of which I found them generally frustrating to use, especially with un-responsive controls. Anyway moving on!
Nearly 7300 viewers! - Website/Blog Feedback / Staff wanted
As the site is nearly hitting the 7300 view count which I'm incredibly grateful for, thank you readers!. Though we need your feedback, tell us in comments what would you like to see more of on the blog/website?, What's your favorite Genre in the listings?, Are you happy with the content in the posts is it too much info or would you prefer less?, anything just tell us.
We had over 140 views of the Star Citizen article which was pretty impressive, but reading your comments to articles really makes it all the worth while, as long as it's not too bad ;) so please get involved, be a part of the website/blog.
Also this site is still looking for news contributors, daily deal posters and reviewers. We have a set rules and regulations for new members but that's mainly as security protection, a sample of a review also needs to be sent because I'm sure our members wouldn't like to see terrible spelling and or swearing for example. As for news contributions all you have to do is get the latest release information, write up a small article doesn't have to be much at all but with pictures and perhaps a video as long as it's new. Daily Deal posters just need to look up the latest deals ££££ that's either retro or Indie games and post them, it's that simple.
So if you got what it takes and want to be part of a great community of gamers you are more than welcome to join the team, we need more people like you.
Thanks

Indie Retro News Blog/Website Update! ( New comment system, Background )
As we have hit over 2200 views, I decided based on a few of our viewer Feedback's that the background needed to change as did a number of other small issues. Although I felt the old background image was in keeping with the system it made it incredibly busy and distracted the eye away from what was most important, the blogs themselves. I've gone for a more minimalistic approach but sticking with the retro theme, good ol' Pacman wakka wakka ;).
However not just that, the comment system has been done away with for an easy to use guest or register system. The previous one was way to chaotic and there is nothing worse when wanting to post a comment only to be told you have to register to this site or that site and it puts people off!. So again done away with, basically all it is now is press comments and type a comment it's that simple!. We would prefer you to register a name at least so we can get to know you personally but you don't have to, guests allowed.
We are still having teething problems here and there as is the case with any new website/blog but our reviews will improve, our site will grow( I hope )but although it's down to me to post the latest news, it's down to you the reader/viewer to keep coming back. Seeing that site hit counter increasing makes it more the worth while to know that the Retro/Nostalgia isn't dead, that people like what we do and you want us to continue.

Spuds Quest - Platformer Adventure Puzzler ( REVIEW )
Spuds Quest.
A developer by the name of ChrisD has been creating a game known as "Spuds Quest" it has been in development since 2002 and is around 70% completed, or so the developer states.
In the words of the developer the game "is a platform adventure puzzler inspired by the classic Dizzy games, with some Zelda thrown in" so all those hardcore retro fans are going to love this... hopefully.
As stated the game is a Nod to the classic dizzy and zelda games "back in the day" and will most likely play out in a similar fashion, from the screenshots it appears to be located in a bright tropical environment, as well as an underwater level and even one situated inside a temple. whether there will be other environments when released is uncertain as of this point in time.
In many of the screenshots there is a frog who appears to be following you, this is spuds friend "prince charming". similar to the old fairy tale where the prince is turned into a frog by an evil witch and must be kissed by a princess... this one changes the fairy tale slightly.
No kissing is necessary... if only things could be so simple.
No instead you must find "find four magical artifacts, all said to be buried deep within ancient temples around the world."
About the gameplay:
There is a transition from night to day and various whether effects are in place but all seem to only change the background, no tiles appear to be changed whether that be by colour or by whether effects. when it rains or becomes night the background changes hue, but from what i can see that is the only change.
Spud does have a weapon, a projectile one at that. "he throws apples. This is used to kill enemies, knock switches, destroy
certain blocks, etc. Gives me a little more variety in the puzzle
department too."
So there will probably be a few levels dedicated to using projectiles to press on with the game.
The game is on kickstarter and is hoping to raise a pledge of £5,000, if you wish to donate you also gain a few "perks" from doing so:
Pledging £1+ will get you a place on their website.
Pledging £5+ will get you a digital copy of the game and a spot in the credits.
Pledging £10+ will get you a digital copy of the game and the OST as well as a place in the credits.
Pledging £25+ along with the above you also get a hard copy of the game.
Pledging £35+ along with the above will get you a hard copy of the OST
Pledging £150+ will get you your own spot inside the game, an NPC dedicated to you and your "likeness" with your name. plus all of the above.
If you feel any of that is worth donating for then go right ahead.
Otherwise the game is expected to be released march 2013.
