The Art of Point + Click Adventure Games - Bitmap Books fabulous retro book of adventuring

Through all these years I've always been a fan of the point and click adventure genre, from games such as Beneath of Steel Sky on the Amiga, the famous game Legend of Kyriandia, to the rather charming fantasy games of Discworld or even Simon the Sorcerer. Each one full of characters to talk to, lovely pixelated graphics, an engrossing story and the ever present need to find that next item that may or may not blend in with each together just to progress past the next screen! It is one of my famous genres and to boost it to the next level Bitmap Books have announced The Art of Point + Click Adventure Games is now open for pre-orders; a visual celebration of Adventure Games

SNES/Super Famicom Visual Compendium Kickstarter launches

Bitmap books have just launched the kickstarter campaign for the 5th book in the brilliant Visual Compendium series. This time the focus is on the much loves SNES and Super Famicom. If there's a console system more loved than this I'd be astounded, and already, after only 4 days, the book is nearly 5x funded and half way towards the (current) top stretch goal of £200K!

Bitmap Books is back! And this time it's the turn of the humble spectrum to get the Visual Compendium treatment. But can a printed book ever do justice to the little marvel and will it be another book to equal its predecessors?

Commodore Amiga: a visual Commpendium - Book review

So after what seems like an eternity waiting since the end of the kickstarter campaign, The book Commodore Amiga: a visual Commpendium has finally been shipped to backers (it actually wasn't that long in comparison to other kickstarters I've funded but this was highly anticipated.) But does it stack up to the pre-launch hype? Read on to find out. (warning, image content heavy)

Commodore 64 : A visual Commpendium [Book Review]

Like many people of a similar age to me, the Commodore 64 holds a very special place in my heart. One of the first computers I spent a large amount of time with, either typing in BASIC listings from books and magazines, to playing games relentlessly, my C64 was the first computer I could call "mine". Of course I'd meant to learn to program on it, but that plan went right down the drain when my gaming habit went from a couple of games on tape and Frogger on cartridge to a small-ish box of disks marked "Games" that one day just magically appeared at our house.

The Bitmap Books Commodore 64: a visual Commpendium book encapsulates brilliantly the memories of the contents of that box.
