Crown Cave - Increasingly difficult Platformer (Free Game of the day)
With games such as VVVVVVV and Meat Boy pushing the difficulty to the extreme, while keeping the level of fun at an all time high, it's no wonder so many games of it's type appear on free sites. Thus today we have another difficult platformer to show you in the form of Crown Cave. Developed by Launch444 you play as a brave fool who enters a mysterious cave to prove his mettle against the challenges that await him. Believe me there are plenty of challenges to be had in Crown Cave with spiked traps, falling acid, wondering fools and more of which I wont spoil.
Hungrynaut - An insane game from Torpedrogames
What do you get if you mix Flappy Bird, VVVVVV and someone with a huge appetite? You get Hungrynaut by TorpedroGames. A game that has you as an astronaut zipping through a space station in Zero Gravity while trying to eat as many burgers as possible to satisfy his ridiculous hunger. Sound easy? Wrong, it isn't! The space station is covered in deadly spikes through an endless high score system, which you must avoid by changing gravity with a tap of your finger. However one wrong tap and its *SPLAT*.
1001 Spikes - More spikes more fun and 4 player mode!
Are you a fan of retro-tastic games like Rick Dangerous with a hint of more modern titles such as VVVVVV or La Mulana HD, then you've got to play 1001 spikes by Nicalis, Inc. Discover the lost treasures of Ukampa in South America as Aban Hawkins searches for his estranged father, world-famous archeaologist, Jim Hawkins. Play through multiple levels of deviously designed challenges and deadly traps in single player, or test your skills with or against 4 other players in multi-player. A game that's just so much fun and also features a pretty damn fine 8-bit soundtrack and multiple player character unlocks, each with their own game play personalities and abilities. Available for both PC, Mac and Linux on Steam for only £9.99
Birden - Insanely difficult browser based platformer
If you thought Meat Boy was difficult or even vvvvvv wait till you try Birden from Bitendo Software. A game in which you must avoid all the spikes, traps and enemies to reach the exit, but I guarantee you will not last long as you will die over and over again in frustration. As a bird you can flap about to avoid these deadly devices but wrong one flap and it's instant death (and level restart). Not just that but the developer has decided to make the character like an elastic band, which ends up with you bouncing and sliding all over the place, thus you have been warned!
