A Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year from Indie Retro News

Here we are again with another Christmas and what a year it has been, full of incredible retro games such as the silky-smooth arcade racing overhaul of Outrun for the Amiga, the vastly superior version of Green Beret for the Commodore Plus/4, to Griffonsoft's amazing platformer on the Commodore 64, and the many Arcade ports done by JOTD for the Commodore Amiga.  I mean seriously I could be here all day listing the greatness that has appeared throughout 2025 that has blown us all away.

Dasher - A family friendly festive game for the Amiga by Camden Town Games.

It's the most wonderful tiiiiiiiiiimee...of the year, and what better way to celebrate it than with a very family friendly game from Camden Town Games called 'Dasher'. A game whereby you play as Dasher, and must collect presents while avoiding obstacles and other Reindeer. Seriously if you have very young kids in the family then this game by Camden will be perfect for them. In light of this rather festive game, Saberman has done a gameplay video.

Mad Santa - A Christmas themed action game from Zooperdan for the Amiga AGA.

Throughout this year our good friend Zooperdan has been creating lots of Puzzle games for the Amiga. Games such as Blok, WordZ and YEET. Well after constantly badgering him to do something different ( I'm just not a puzzle fan :p ), he's now released a Christmas themed arcade shooter called 'Mad Santa'. A Scorpion Engine developed game, that was made in 4 days so it can be added to Amiga Cammy's Christmas Tree (list of Christmas related games for Amiga).

The Snowman - A PC remake of the 1980's game by Quicksilva from Langford Productions

If you're feeling festive and want to play some Christmas games then come and check out the newest of releases from Langford Productions called 'The Snowman'. ​A PC remake of the 1980's game by Quicksilva based on the book by Raymond Briggs and probably the cartoon on which Aled Jones sung. Sherwood (C64 Collector’s Edition) – Another fantastic C64 game from MUSKETEER creators 'Griffonsoft' [XMAS UPDATE]

Well this is brilliant news and one I didn't think would happen so soon after the recent release of MUSKETEER. As the team behind that game who we know as Griffonsoft, has now made available another game for your Commodore 64 called 'Sherwood (C64 Collector’s Edition)'. A game whereby you play as the legendary Robin Hood, and must fight with bow and arrow after being exposed at an archery contest. Santastic - A family Christmas game for your Commodore Amiga

It's nearly Christmas! So to give you that Christmas feeling we have a nice little game for you to play that has recently been released called 'Santastic' by Tukinem for the Commodore Amiga. A game whereby you play as Santa and must deliver presents to children throughout a snowy landscape. To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided some footage of the demo that can be downloaded below.

Cube Droid Holiday Special - A Christmas treat for fans of Cube Droid Saves the Galaxy on the MSX 2

There's been a lot of Puzzle games featured lately, from Catbox for the MSX 1, to Ami Robbo 2 for the Commodore Amiga. Well if you were hoping for some more challenging puzzles to keep you occupied throughout the rest of this week, then come and check out bitsofbas's MSX 2 puzzle game of 'Cube Droid Holiday Special'. A Christmas treat for fans of Cube Droid Saves the Galaxy, with a free 24 level Christmas themed pack of goodness....You don't even need the original Cube Droid to play this! 

Revenge Of The Grinch - A little Christmas blaster from Electric Black Sheep for the Amiga!


Electric Black Sheep is back in the news, and while they have released games such as None of Us, Drag and Drop, Project Horizon Engine, Dual, and the incredible Arcade blaster of 'Star Dust Wars'. Today they turn their attention to a Christmas shooter called 'Revenge of the Grinch'. Although in no way as impressive as Star Dust Wars, it does have its own charm based on their "Dungeon of Evil" game with Christmas themed graphics and effects.

Winterland Mega-Lo-Mania - A festive level set for Amiga classic 'Mega Lo Mania' by NeonCentipede

Ask anyone who's played Mega Lo Mania, and they'd probably tell of mighty conquests across different zones, filled with voices such as ' The design is ready ' and ' We are running low on elements '. Well this classic strategy game from 1991, has not only been given the festive treatment by NeonCentipede, but according to him, he has released this festive level set via a Mega-Lo-Mania level Editor. Santatron 2024 - A Christmas blaster from Nivrig Games for the Commodore Amiga

Prepare for more Christmas entertainment! As if you have a Commodore Amiga at hand, then it might be worth checking out Nivrig Games latest addictive Christmas blaster of 'Santatron 2024'. A game in which you play as Santa, and must evade, attack and rescue Christmas from an AI controlled disaster. A Very Hairy Christmas - A modern HD debut of Mr Hair for the PC by Langford Productions

We've just received word from our good friend Richard of Langford Productions, of a new PC game that has been released called 'A Very Hairy Christmas'. A game which doesn't just have nods to other classic games from the 80's such as Pac-Man and PSSST, but it's a rather lovely game for the upcoming festive season. As in the words of the developer "Star of many Spectrum games, Mr Hair makes his HD debut in the festive "A Very Hairy Christmas" for Windows PC" To coincide with this news, we've got the full story from the game as well as a trailer.

Psyqo Santa - A late Christmas present for ZX Spectrum owners by IAMAI Creation

It's another fun looking game for today's retro gaming news story, as thanks to Saberman contacting us through Facebook, he has told us that IAMAI Creation has released a new action platformer for the ZX Spectrum called 'Psyqo Santa': A game in which you need to put a stop to an Evil Santa who has turned people into snowmen to keep them frozen from the truth. To coincide with this news, while there is a video of this release, the creator has shared some more info about the game below.

Super Delivery Boy The Holiday Shift - An Amiga Christmas spin-off gets another update!

Another festive heads up for you all, as if you've been following all the news updates regarding NeesoGames Amiga platformer of Super Delivery Boy, then we've just been contacted by Saberman, than in celebration of the upcoming Christmas festivities, NeesoGames has released a new update for the lovely Amiga platformer of Super Delivery Boy - The Holiday Shift; a fast paced festive minigame, spin-off of Super Delivery Boy, a platform game in development for the Amiga (OCS-ECS) using the Scorpion Engine.

Santa's Troubles - Are you feeling festive for another Commodore 64 game?

If you just can't wait for Christmas day and fancy playing a Christmas themed game right now, then you might be interested to know that LC-Games, who was also behind Dig Dug Revival, Bagman Strikes Back and many many others, has released the Christmas game of 'Santa's Troubles': A game in which you have to help Santa Claus recover all the gift packages stolen by the criminals. Arctic Atac Xmas - A fully modded Xmas version of Atic Atac for the ZX Spectrum

Ultimate Play the Game released many incredible titles in the 80's, games such as Knightlore, Jetpac, Sabre Wulf and Gunfright to name but a few. But today's news is something of a special announcement for fans of Ultimate Play the Game, as their top down arcade adventure game ' Atic Atac ' released in 83 of which we have featured many times before, has now been re-released as a fully modded Xmas version of Atic Atac! A Christmas gift by highriser which can be seen being played in this video provided by Saberman.

Summer Santa 2022 - A 2022 overhaul of a 1986 ZX Spectrum game by Alpha-Omega Software!

Another festive news story for you all, and one I think it might be worth a load up on your home speccy through the Christmas period, is the latest ZX Spectrum game overhaul of 'Summer Santa 2022' by  Paul Jenkinson. A complete re-write of a very buggy and graphically unappealing ZX Spectrum game which was originally released by Alpha-Omega Software way back in 1986. Santa Claus Xmas Season 2022 - Yet another Christmas game and this one is by Amiten Games

You can just tell it's Christmas with all these lovely festive games appearing on Indie Retro News, and one which caught our eye was the latest tease from Amiten Games called  'Santa Claus Xmas Season 2022'. Yes indeed another Christmas Amiga game has appeared and while so far this game is only for supporters and friends of Amiten Games, it does look like an enjoyable game for all the family with the aim of stopping the bad guys from throwing poor Santa into a pit.
