Crawl - Epic Multiplayer Dungeon Crawler up for votes on Steam Greenlight
Game Genre : Action, Multiplayer
Game Info : This game stood out for me as one of the top games that need to be voted via Steam Greenlight, a game called Crawl, a competitive multiplayer dungeon crawler where your friends control the monsters! But what makes this game even more interesting is if you, the Hero, get's killed by the other human controlled monsters, they themselves then become the Hero and you, the monster. What's more, it's a race to gain enough XP and loot to challenge the dungeon's boss, which again is cooperatively controlled by the other players! This game looks a ton of fun and I hope they show a playable build at the upcoming Eurogamer event!
Release : First half 2014
Systems : PC, Mac, Linux
Crawl - An arcade dungeon crawler full of pixelated action goodness!
Game Genre : Arcade Dungeon Crawler
Developer(s) : Powerhoof
Developer Quote: "A Dungeon-Crawler Where Your Friends Control the Monsters"
Game Info Quote: It’s a very arcadey dungeon crawling beat-em-up where one player controls the “heroic adventurer” and the other three control all the dungeon’s traps and monsters. If you kill the hero, you take his place and it’s your turn to crawl while your friends try to kill you. You can be that skeleton with cutlass or be that rat in basement. Be the irritating flame trap on a wall or be the hulking tentacle boss. The dungeon crawling is semi-roguelike-esque with randomly generated dungeons, loot drops and the obligatory crapload of magic items and weapons, but all the gearing and leveling up happens at the frenetic pace of an arcade cabinet intent to blast you through and spit you out and demand you insert coin again before your slurpee has time to soak through and get the buttons all sticky.
Release : WIP
Systems : PC, Others(?)
Crawl - Student project based Dungeon Crawler all through Game Maker!
It must be Dungeon Crawler day as another one has just surfaced! Titled, Crawl, is a student based project from the developer JMRante and created using the Game Maker engine. Although the developer states that the game is heavily flawed, it's also said that it's an impressive demonstation of how far the Game Maker engine can be stretched. I for one have never used Game Maker, but going by the screenshot above, it looks pretty good. As for the Crawl story, you play the role of a mental physician who has entered his patient’s mind in order to deal away with their traumas. Throughout the crawling experience you'll travel diverse dream worlds, fight bizarre infections and reunite memory fragments all through a verb based system and action-timed combat.
