Booty The Remake - A fabulous entry from the ZX DEV MIA Remakes compo is released

The ZX Spectrum is doing well this month as after previously announcing that a new version of Alley Cat de/remake for the ZX Spectrum was made available. Along comes Booty The Remake to further whet our appetite. Now unlike the previous game which didn't get a ZX Spectrum release, this one did as it was released in 1984 for the Amstrad, Commodore and yes even the Spectrum. What does make it all fresh though is the fact that this is a remake of the original game with some rather nice improvements indeed.

With the end of the year fast approaching, you would be forgiven for thinking there wouldn't be anymore fantastic games released, especially as the Christmas rush had ended and New Years Eve is only tomorrow. As if you followed our previous write up regarding Mister Kung Fu; a full conversion of the 1980's side-scrolling beat 'em up game Kung Fu Master, which appeared on many different systems such as the ZX Spectrum. You'll be overjoyed to learn that Uprising Games has officially released version 1.0 via the ZX-Dev M.I.A / Remakes competition.

Alley Cat - Atari/DOS cat classic as a ZX Spectrum demake, gets a beta update

It's time for some ZX Spectrum news now as we have just been told via our Twitter feed, that Jordi has released a beta update to his in-development Alley Cat Demake, which is coming to the ZX Spectrum via the ZX-Dev MIA remake competition. This game was originally released on the Atari 8bit in 1983 and MS-DOS in 1984 by Bill Williams and published by Synapse Software, and puts you in control of Freddy the Cat on a challenging mission to rescue his Cat love, Felicia.

Manic Pietro - The first game for the ZX-Dev-MIA-Remakes compo gets a big update

After the news of a Barbarian remake got us excited here at IRN, you wouldn't believe how excited we got after learning that due to the latest ZX Spectrum competition ZX-Dev-MIA-Remakes that one entrant, plying his trade under the name of cgonalez, has decided to take on one of the behemoths of the Speccy - Manic Miner, which was originally released way back in 1983 and is now called Manic Pietro!

Droid Buster - C64 'Mandroid' coming to the ZX Spectrum

The games just keep on coming, as after already mentioning The Last Ninja (1) possibly coming to the ZX Spectrum, we are here to shout out that the C64 version of 'Mandroid' is being remade as ' Droid Buster ' for the ZX Spectrum via the ZX-Dev-MIA-Remakes competition. According to the developer of this remake, Mandroid was originally going to come to the ZX Spectrum as Cyborg but with it being never released, the developer is remaking the game in his own image, both the graphics and mechanics.

The Last Ninja - Is System 3's classic game coming to the ZX Spectrum?

In the late 80's System 3 released one of the most incredible 8-bit games of all time, cited by many as a highly innovative, groundbreaking title that put you in control of the ninja Armakuni on his journey to the palace of the evil shogun Kunitoki to assassinate him, avenge his clan, and retrieve the sacred scrolls. That game was none other than ' The Last Ninja ', a highly successful game for its time which as of today has re-appeared in our inbox but instead as a possible tease for an upcoming unofficial ZX remake.
