Penetrator - Superb C64 Scramble clone with level editor gets new release


Brand new C64 releases are happening almost weekly now, so it's quite easy to miss some of the great releases Hokuto Force and other groups are bringing out. But here's a classic one, which you may well have missed because it's not had a crack release before. This is Penetrator, for the C64. Created by Bruce Bayley, and released by Melbourne House in 1984. And for such an early release C64 game, it plays fun, fast and even has a built in level editor and save facility. And while the level editor is somewhat limited by modern standards, it's still a great touch and massively increases the replayability of a game like this.

Cookie - A veritable kitchen nightmare comes to C64


Having never owned a Speccy, I'm unfamiliar with "Cookie", however it seems to have had a decent following amongst our 8bit cousins, and now C64 fans get to find out why (without having to pollute their hard disk with a Spectrum emulator). Our friends at Reset Magazine posted yesterday that Cookie has been re-written from scratch for C64, and it is developer Andy Noble's first game this system, having ported many other retro games for windows and mac. It's a really nice conversion of the original and it's free to download right now.

Thalamus Kickstarter Launched - 50% funded in first few hours


By now I'm sure you must've heard legendary C64 games house Thalamus have returned, and as promised have launched a cracking Kickstarter project today, to revive their classic back catalog for a new generation. Specifically, the Kickstarter hopes to deliver the official 30th anniversary remaster of classic shoot-em-up Hunter's Moon (Alongside help from Martin Walker (the original programmer). Not only that, but the release will be a physical C64 cartridge version, and Thalamus are going to remaster their entire back catalog in the same way. Enhanced to take advantage of the extended feature set of the cartridge format.

The Legend of Sinbad - Superior Software's 1986 C64 game gets a new crack and trainer!


Hokuto Force have created a new cracked version with inclusive trainer of Superior Software's 1986 The Legend of Sinbad for the C64. New features include a brand new "cracktro", and training modes which allow infinite lives, infinite time, removal of collisions from the green doors on level 1 and a much easier dragon boss level.

Motorman - Atlantis's Excitebike clone for the C64


Here's some interesting news for fans of the NES classic Excitebike. A playable preview of a C64 clone called Motorman developed by Dr. Strange of Atlantis and Propaganda Magazine has just been released.
