The top 50 most underappreciated ZX Spectrum games
It's not often we post links to other websites, other than those that give us new games, but DenOfGeek has done a rather interesting article of the top 40 most underappreciated ZX Spectrum games. Well worth a read, and true enough, I can only say I've played a couple of the games listed.

Some of you may have visited the site earlier and ended up on a redirect message or a url not found issue. Just to let you the readers know that we will hopefully have a proper domain name up at some point without the blogspot part www.indieretronews.com however for the time being please use www.indieretronews.co.uk and if it works www.indieretronews.com as they are domain name owned redirections. Limit Theory - The possibilities are limitless - Kick Starter
Hello everyone, I am John P Martin, and this is my first article on Indie Retro News, I hope you will enjoy it!
Limit Theory is a space sand box game in which everything is procedurally generated. The game is by Josh Parnell, and it has just recently come to Kick starter on November 20th. He is hoping to raise $50,000 to make the game and so far the kick starter campaign has raised $32,302 in just 4 days.
The best way to describe limit theory would be to say that it is a game with very few limits put on the player. Everything you can see in the game is procedurally generated by the games custom built game engine. The universe is unlimited in size, and if you can see something which interests you, you can go there and interact with it. The game is all about interaction and the unique story which is unfolding as you explore and experience the vast procedurally generated universe within it.
Developers Guide to implementing 2D platformers

Dizzy Returns - The all time classic retro platformer is back with a kickstarter and a History lesson
What a great day it is today for Dizzy fans, The Oliver Twins, Developers of this all time classic retro Platformer Puzzler are back. I woke up this morning and saw Dizzy appear on kickstarter and my heart nearly missed a beat, this game is so close to my heart I could almost say I grew up on Dizzy. Dizzy fast became one of the most successful European computer game brands of the late 1980s into the 1990's. But what is this game called, well it's called Dizzy Returns and it's using today's technology.
Ultima Underworld – The Stygian Abyss ( Pc Gamer Article )
The news keeps on coming and it's past 1am, I'll need my sleep soon but what the heck this game is worthy of posting and it's the great Ultima Underworld - The Stygian Abyss !. Pc Gamer have just done a rather nice article on this great RPG classic, which was published by Origin Systems in 1992 and sold nearly 500,000 units.
So check out this short quote then head over there have a read and relive those memories!

For me, then, Underworld is almost the perfect RPG – control issues notwithstanding. It has influenced, directly and indirectly, the Elder Scrolls series, the Deus Ex games, Half-Life 2, System Shock (Warren Spector was the game’s later producer), BioShock, Tomb Raider and frankly just about every 3D RPG that has since appeared.http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/11/18/reinstall-ultima-underworld-the-stygian-abyss/
Elite : Dangerous - Space Sim ( kickstarter ) and Original, remakes article
I thought to myself tonight that it was time to write up a small article about Elite, the Elite remakes and the new Dangerous kickstarter project. With regards to my play time of Elite it was very brief as I was well into FOFT(Federation of Free Traders) which was a similar game of trading/battles in space and on the planet surface (Frontier: Elite II). Elite was originally on the BBC and Acorn Systems released in 1984 at which time I was 5yrs old, by two developers David Braben and Ian Bell.
Legend of Grimrock - Mods & Assets : Dungeon Crawler RPG Article
This was actually a request by one of our viewers to write up about those that are not just modding the game for new levels using existing textures but sometimes entire Game Assets that have been changed. Legend of Grimrock was one of the best Indie games of 2012 it took me back to the days of Eye of the Beholder, the Dungeon Crawler RPG of my day.

Video games unknown facts! part 1
GTA
(Grand Theft Auto)
Grand theft auto has a few hidden gems and odd secrets, even it's creation is rather unique. can you believe it started out as a GLITCH!?. Well it's true! GTA was spawned from a different game called "Race and Chase" which was very similar to GTA in many ways, you were essentially a getaway driver, stealing from banks and then trying to lose the cops. Very similar to a much later game called "Driver" but that was more story driver than this game. but what was this glitch you may ask? well instead of trying to pull over the criminal (you) the police cars would actually ram you off the road and damage your car. the game had no missions that involved walking but you could still leave your car and go for a strole through the park... but considering it was an arcade game it was a waste of time and money to do that, you could steal other cars though.
Back then Rockstar North was known as DMA Design, that strange multicoloured man made out of lettersso that's how it was created but what about what was WITHIN the games that followed? well it seems that in every GTA game released the developers loved leaving little Tid-Bits for an adventurous player to find, including a few obscure refferences to movies and other games related to the GTA franchise. From the Blood covered bathroom in vice city, which was a nod to the film "Scarface" where a character is killed in a bathtub by a chainsaw, i wont spoil any names of the characters so go watch the movie to find out what i mean. All the way to a random wall in an area your not supposed to get to that litterelly states "your not supposed to get here" which in later "remakes" was replaced with "hello again" and "you really like this alleyway".

There are far too many glitches and easter eggs to name them all, heck one of them is an actual EASTER EGG! a chocolate one found in vice city, only accessable by jumping through a window from a roof... go look it up people it's real and not as hard as it sounds.
