Asteroids RX - A from scratch conversion of two classic Atari games for the ZX Spectrum & Spectrum Next!

Does anyone remember the Asteroids game from 1979 whereby destroying as many asteroids as possible and gaining a high score was the aim of the game? Well if you do remember it and want to play a really fine version of it on the ZX Spectrum, then make sure to check out highriser's latest speccy release of 'Asteroids RX'; a 'from scratch' conversion of two classic Atari games, Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe for the 48k,128k and a version with Spectrum Next enhancements that are included.

SUPERVERSE - Wicked arcade shooter gets a new teaser trailer

Put down that Asteroids game and look towards a new arcade style shooter that looks pretty damn fine. Developed by Industry Entertainment, a small independent game development studio, 'SUPERVERSE' is the latest shooter that features more than just your standard rock blasting action. If you want eye popping detail with lots of spacecraft, lasers, rockets and explosions going off all over the place, then you've got to watch the latest teaser trailer that has just been released.

Stardust - In your face Asteroids clone as an Amiga-PC playable release

Another great unofficial re-release by Gamesnostalgia for the PC is this rather spiffy Asteroids Amiga clone of Stardust, which was released by Bloodhouse in 1993. This game took Asteroids to another level with not just awesome power ups and shields, but also looked graphically advanced with vivid in your face colours and containing a wicked high beat soundtrack. Although the game did appear on the PC, the port were distinctly lacking with the PC version being buggy as it was not by the original team.

AsteroidX - Retro blaster enters a new age of awesomeness!

Now who here didn't like the 1979 Arcade version of Asteroids, where you flew your little ship about shooting Asteroids and UFOs while trying not to be destroyed? I certainly enjoyed it and so have many others, as have there have been countless clones of the game over the many years since that original release. However there is one Asteroids game developed by Davit Masia and Music/SFX by Evil-Mind.com that looks to have the hallmarks of a fantastic game; welcome to AsteroidX.

SUPERVERSE - Wicked arcade shooter Pre-Alpha gameplay footage released!

Put down that Asteroids game and look towards a new arcade style shooter that looks pretty damn fine. Stinger! - 1985 C64 shooter now with a trainer

First released in 1985 as a sort of Asteroids clone and now cracked by Genesis Project for C64, you fly your very own space ship in a multi-directional shooter. Attacking a multitude of stinging enemies such as wasp fighters, wasp bombers and other such wasp like enemies each with their own attacking pattern, you must defend yourself and keep your shield intact or your ship will blow up. Although it's not the best game we've played as it's a bit repetitive, it does have a nice star background and is easy to play.

N.E.O - Near Earth Objects - Frantic shooter for PC

J X Townsend has released the latest frantic shooter "N.E.O" for PC; a trippy looking game that mashes it up with a bit of Gridwars and Asteroids with psychedelic colours. Featuring either keyboard, touchscreen or XBox 360 control, you are tasked with the defending of the Earth from "Near Earth Objects" that have arrived to kill everyone on the planet.

Space101 - A new take on the Asteroids game and it's FREE!

Now who here didn't like the 1979 Arcade version of Asteroids, where you fly your little ship about shooting Asteroids and UFOs while trying not to be destroyed? I certainly enjoyed it and so have many others, as have there have been countless clones of the game, but Space 101 by Norham is one of the better ones.

Silent Star: Blast - A nod to the asteroids gameplay!

Does anyone remember the Asteroids game from 1979 whereby destroying as many asteroids as possible and gaining a high score was the aim of the game? Well here is Silent Star: Blast from the developer Neil Crofts, which is very similar to Asteroids as you destroy as many asteroids as possible to raise the stakes in the leaderboards. What I also like about the game is the fact that you can choose from up to 8 ships, each with a different set of specifications to give the game it's own unique style.

So head on over to the website and give the game a go!
