Irena Genesis Metal Fury - Shoot'em up for SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive in development by White Ninja Studio looks fab!

Other than adventure games and platformers, I've also had a great fondness for shoot 'em ups, from retro games such as R-Type and Project-X to modern inspirations such as the fabulous Super Hydorah. There isn't a Shoot 'em up that I'd turn away from just to pick up a power up and blast a few waves of enemies! So to see a high quality shoot em up that's in development by White Ninja Studio called 'Irena Genesis Metal Fury' for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis certainly piqued my wave blasting interest!

Throughout July of this year, there was a competition for gamers around the world to create a game for old hardware in a single weekend. Unlike other jams of it's type, in BITBIT Jam the games had to work on the systems they were developed for, so if you created a ZX Spectrum game, it had to work on a ZX Spectrum computer. In all over 5 games were shown with each one having a different style of gameplay, that are playable on systems such as the Amstrad CPC, C64, Gameboy, Sega Megadrive and ZX.

Moving on from the Amstrad's, the C64's and the ZX Spectrum, today we are going to look at a rather cool retro based console sent to us by funstock, who previously sent us the Commodore 64 : A visual Commpendium. This is the Super Retro TRIO developed by Retro-Bit; an impressive looking (NES / SNES / Genesis/Megadrive - 3 in 1 System ), that can play those old console games without actually having to switch consoles. Today we are going to give you that hardware review and give our final opinion from both myself Neil and my other staff writer David.

Space Harrier - A retro look back of a SEGA classic

Welcome to the fantasy zone. Get Ready!

When I heard the first ever samples on my Atari ST my mate and I were in awe. Computers can now talk at you as the low quality distorted sounds came at us. Barely distinguishable but cool none the less. We knew what the computer was telling us. "Fun time" , yet another fantastic hit from Sega, Space Harrier came to the arcades back in 1985 along with Sega's other popular titles back then, Super Hang-on, Afterburner and Outrun. They really did revolutionise the design of games and used a technology known as "Super Scaler" to produce what was the forefront of 3D games.

It Came From The Desert - Cinemaware's unreleased SEGA action version is coming!!!!

I could not believe what I was seeing today as Florian Merz had spotted what looked to be an updated It Came From The Desert by Cinemaware, for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis. At first I thought it was a joke, was this real? Was this some sort of trick by Cinemaware? But no it's real! Cinemaware spoke to me and confirmed the unreleased 1990 version will be released for the Holiday 2014 season as a limited edition version, with the production of the cartridge, case and manual working closely with WaterMelon Games, the creators of Pier Solar for the Mega Driver/Genesis.
