BitBeamCannon recently teamed up with Neofid and PixelHeart to bring their retro arcade style game, DaemonClaw to Megadrive, Neo Geo, and modern systems! Syndicate - Action/strategy classic by Bullfrog gets a DarkwyndPT review
Well, this retrospective sure is going slow, isn’t it? Sorry for taking so long, but because of recent work issues, I no longer have a lot of free time. And it happened all of a sudden, without notice, so I couldn’t cancel anything or plan around it. Anyway, today’s review is probably of my favourite Bullfrog title (apart from Theme Hospital and the original Dungeon Keeper, that is): Syndicate.
Misplaced - A new Megadrive release from RetroSouls
RetroSouls that are known for many great homebrew games just released a new title for the Megadrive/Genesis called “Misplaced”. RetroSouls describes Misplaced as a small experimental puzzler. The goal is to collect crystals and placing them on altars to progress to the next level. To help the character to collect all the crystals that sometimes are located on hard to reach places you can use your very snazzy magical glasses that lets you record your steps and then with a press of a button you can replay the path you just recorded. If you liked the puzzle part of RetroSouls game Alter Ego then you should definitely check this out!
Escape 2042 - Fast paced platformer appears on the Megadrive, Gameboy, Dreamcast and Steam!
We've recently been contacted through our inbox about a new fast paced platformer that isn't just available on the Megadrive, but also the Gameboy, Dreamcast and for the PC via Steam. Titled as ' Escape 2042 ', and developed by Orionsoft. This game is set in a sci-fi futuristic time in which you play as Shun, a computer engineer and member of the Truth Defenders coalition that has been imprisoned in a high security prison to stop you from informing the people against the socialist government and the progressive dictatorship.
Maldita Castilla - Ghost'n'Goblins homage demo'd on the Megadrive!
In 2012 Locomalito released Maldita Castilla for the PC which was a fantastic arcade platformer homage to Ghost'n'Goblins, and many others while taking influences from medieval paintings and places, and inspired by the best chivalry book ever: The Amadis of Gaul. It was indeed one of the finest retro inspired games I have ever played, but what if I was to tell you there has been a demo released which works on the Sega Megadrive? Well here it is, Maldita Castilla on the Sega Megadrive!
BarbarianCPC & Deathsword 128k : Head chopping classics remade!
Barbarian or as it was called in the United States, Death Sword, was first released in 1989 for the C64 and later ported to other systems including the Acorn, Amiga, Amstrad, Atari, Apple II, BBC Micro, MS-DOS and ZX Spectrum. It was a fine game indeed that featured a one to two player mode as each Barbarian faced each other off in deadly combat. What set this game apart from other combative titles was the ability to slice at each other to the death, which usually ended up with a head being chopped clean off and kicked to one side. It is was a game that has lived on through a generation and although the Deathsword 128k remake isn't new, the latest Barbarian CPC for the megadrive is!
Sega Master System Brawl - Super Smash Bros you now have a new contender for your crown!
Can you believe this? Some talented little keyboard wizard called David Bonafonte, has only gone and made a Smash Bros punch a like for the Megadrive! The game is clearly a tribute to the much maligned Super Smash Bros , one of Nintendo's flag ship game franchises. Master system brawl boasts an impressive roster of our favourite 8 bit master system legends, one on one and out for blood.
The Retro Collection - My lifes story!
This may bore some of you, especially with the negative side, but for others you may get that extra bit of nostalgia, so here goes. Through all these years of having to deal with Autism, OCD and the more recently diagnosed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder due to a long childhood of bullying and other personal issues still taking it's toll on my mental state, there's one thing I've always kept strong to, which isn't just my family and normal gaming. My retro collection, the great Amiga 500 and of cause the Amiga 1200 oh and the even older Amstrad CPC. Through a very young age I was always fascinated by computers, I remember getting the green screen Amstrad CPC 464 and although not such a great programmer I loved buying all those cool games. Hearing that squealing tape, the wavy lines and finally after ever so many minutes, the game screen. Which was either Dizzy or Green Beret! Fast forward to this year and..
