Low cost Vampire Raptor 1200 accelerator is on the way and we are excited!
Chances are if you have an Amiga 500, you'll be looking out for the PiStorm, an adapter board intended to be paired with a Raspberry Pi Model 3A which offers additional features, like fast graphics acceleration, SCSI disk emulation, and the ability to run whatever Kickstart ROM you so desire. But for those of you with an Amiga 1200, you'll need to look elsewhere for your acceleration power house, but rather than the long wait times and high cost of a Vampire accelerator, then the Vampire Raptor 1200 Accelerator might just the piece of hardware your Amiga 1200 thanks you for (and so does your wallet)
Diablo - Could this hellish classic be coming to the Amiga as an unofficial port?
I'm sure many of you remember the hellish classic of ' Diablo '; an action RPG hack and slasher released way back in 1996 with highly favourable reviews from across the globe, gaining that top PC spot for a good number of months. But did you know that as of this time there is progress to port the game over to the Amiga? Well good news it's actually happening! As thanks to a heads up from Solo, we've been told Daniel Müßener (Daytona) and Marlon @ AmigaDev.com / Vampire team, are aiming to bring Diablo to both classic and high end Amiga's.
Phantomas 2 - Upcoming overhaul for the Amstrad CPC
In 1986 Dinamic Software released the Spanish game of ' Phantomas 2 ' for the Amstrad CPC, C64, ZX Spectrum and later the MSX with an international release name through Codemasters under the title of ' Vampire '. This rather creepy game with a mix of adventuring and platforming containing many different screens, placed you inside the castle of Count Dracula on a quest to kill the monster while avoiding deadly traps. So why are we mentioning this game you might ask? Well this game is coming back but this time as a remake for the Amstrad CPC thanks to Jordi Sureda and Santiago Ontanon.
New Compatible A500(+) case campaign live streams
As many of you are aware, A1200.net are currently running a crowd funding campaign for new compatible Amiga 500 and A500+ cases to replace the current case you have at home, which by now has most likely gone yellow. Now unlike the previous campaign for new A1200 cases which did end up as a huge success, so far this one still has a long stretch to go with just $60,052 raised of a $155,000 goal. But read on as you'll see why there is still a chance of this campaign hitting its goal.
AGA Integration into the Apollo core ( Vampire ) shows jaw dropping frame rates!
As many of you know the Amiga accelerator the ' Vampire ' has been around for a little while now, giving incredible performance boosts to the Amiga 500 and Amiga 600 as the Vampire 500 V2+ and Vampire 600 V2. A powerhouse of technical marvel by Igor Majstorovic, (Majsta) and tcore (CPU) by Gunnar von Boehn, (BigGun) that is faster than an Amiga 1200 with a 68060 accelerator running at 80MHz with very little heat or power consumption! However that is all well and good but what is lacking is AGA Integration, which as of this moment is being shown off in some rather impressive game play frame rate teasers!
The Mini Slug Project - A tribute to Metal Slug now available as an Amiga 68k version
I can say for sure there's probably not many of you that haven't heard of 'Metal Slug', a game in a series of games that are well known in the gaming community, going back to the days of the Neo Geo system. This game has plenty of humour, while remaining action packed throughout. Collect weapons and health from hostages, use vehicles and shoot the best guns at a constant wave of enemies including big bad bosses. In fact it was so much fun and still is, that a fan by the name of Clement Corde released a small tribute to the game as 'Mini Metal Slug' for a number of systems such as the Amiga OS4 in 2012. Which this week has been ported by Arti / ArtiGames for the Amiga 68k.
Rick Dangerous Enhanced - An enhanced WIP version of a classic for Amiga RTG and Vampire
Throughout the last few years we've had a lot of Rick Dangerous news, from the in development Atari 8bit port, to versions available to play as PC portable exes. But even though this game is regarded as a great classic platformer by many, with its Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider vibe from Core Design in 1989, there hasn't been any overhauled versions taking advantage of faster systems, at least until now anyway. Thanks to a heads up via our Commodore Amiga Facebook group from Jen Ser, here we have Rick Dangerous Enhanced, which is an enhanced version of a classic for Amiga RTG and Vampire based Amiga's that is in development.
CannonBall - Enhanced Outrun engine requires fast Amiga - Vampire or better!
The day has only just begun and already Indie Retro News is on the case with the latest news, as here we have the latest enhanced engine edition of Outrun as 'CannonBall' released for the Amiga by Modern Vintage Gamer 2017. Now this game was first released in 1986 by Sega in the Arcades, with later ports to systems such as the Amstrad, Amiga and many others, but sadly many of the ports were shockingly poor such as the Amiga with bad graphics and not so good frame rates. This Enhanced Outrun Engine edition improves the game ten fold, with not just arcade like graphics but superior frame rates, although a Vampire or better is highly recommended!
