Settlers II Gold Edition - HOT NEWS as The Settlers II is coming to the Amiga (AGA)

Well this is incredible news, as one of my all time favourite games 'The Settlers II' is coming to the Commodore Amiga AGA as of October 18th 2025. According to the press release : After almost 30 years, The Settlers II will finally be available on the Amiga starting October 18, 2025! Officially licensed by Ubisoft Entertainment, the Gold Edition of this legendary city-building strategy game has been faithfully and insightfully ported by Look Behind You, proving that true classics are timeless.

The Settlers History Collection - 25 Years Anniversary!

Ever since 1993 I've always had a soft spot for that classic game ' The Settlers ', there's something about the game that makes it highly addictive, whether it's the managing your own village, mining for minerals or conquering the lands around you that pulls you in. In fact right from that very game I have played every sequel and although I did enjoy the later ones, they still never matched the first and second game in the series. Thankfully it seems Ubisoft also wants you to enjoy those memories as today they have announced 'The Settlers History Collection'; a 25 year anniversary celebration as a re-release of all seven previous installments in one great bundle!

The Settlers (Blue Byte game, Commodore Amiga, 1993) reviewed by AlanG

Settlers is a real time strategy game, simulating the building and expansion of a medieval type settlement. Released for the Amiga in 1993 it was the first game of its type on any platform, the IBM PC release not following for another year. It gave rise to countless follow ups and even the smash hit modern-day tablet game ‘Clash of Clans’ has its roots firmly planted in Settlers' territory. You can play against another human opponent or against up to three of a selection of potential computer opponents each with varying ‘personalities’. Everything is controlled via the mouse by using a series of on-screen menus.

Foundation - Amiga CD Settlers style game gets a DamienD special Amiga release [UPDATE]

Ever since 1993 I've always had a soft spot for that classic game ' The Settlers ', there's something about the game that makes it highly addictive, whether it's the managing your own village, mining for minerals or conquering the lands around you that pulls you in. So to say I was disappointed that Settlers 2 never came to the Amiga was an understatement, at least until ' Foundation ' came around that is. You see Foundation was supposed to be like Settlers 2 and was to give it a run for its money, the problem was Foundation was and still is an Amiga CD only game, at least until today anyway. Because as of today as per our request, DamienD has converted the Amiga CD version as a fully runnable file on a real Amiga without the need for a CD-Rom drive!

Matt Chat interviews Volker Wertich, Father of The Settlers

When I was a teen one game I remember so fondly was the early 90's game ' The Settlers ' on the Amiga. It had oodles of charm and character and became one of my most addictive game series ever released on both the Amiga and then later the PC. You could build your very own little village, from woodcutters to farms and bakeries while watching your little people go about their daily chores with birds chirping in the background. It was just a shame that Ubisoft decided to wreck the later games and become a shadow of its former self. Thankfully Matt Chat was on hand this month to help relive those glorious days as he has interviewed ' Volker Wertich ' about the Commodore VIC-20 and C-64, the Amiga, Emerald Mine, and yes, The Settlers.

Valhalla Hills - The Settlers styled game is now available on GOG

When someone mentions the name 'The Settlers' I think of the classic 1993 game and the 1996 'The Settlers II: Veni, Vidi, Vici' by Blue Byte Software. Two incredible strategy games that featured both the management of a village and conquest of the land and could also be played against a friend. As a player you could construct buildings, fight, make grain and hunt for meat to feed your citizens and much more! So to learn of 'Valhalla Hills' from the developers of classics like “The Settlers 2” and the “Cultures” Series that is now available to buy on GOG, we were just a little excited.

GOG goes German with a HUGE Herzlich Willkommen! Promo

GOG is really pushing out those deals and no sooner had we finished the previous weekend picks but GOG has now gone slightly German. Because of their worldwide coverage it stands to reason why they need more languages and thus they have a German version of the website via a drop down menu, a German customer support team and of course more games in German. But to us English folk, you probably want to know about the deals! This weekend they are holding the German-riffic Herzlich Willkommen! promo. The highlight is a ridiculous 97% off Deponia, including over 25 other German gaming hits available as well such as The Settlers, BlackGuards and many many more.

So check out the big promo and save lots and lots of lovely dosh on the GOG Website

Return to the Roots : Open source 15.12.2014 add-on update for Settlers II Gold Edition

Ah Settlers II Gold Edition, what a grand retro game that was. Micromanaging a village from colonizing new lands, conquering, producing goods, mining resources, watching your little villages go to work while listening to the music and the chirp of birds. It's still loved to this day and thanks to the developers behind "Return to the Roots" they've released the latest open source update add-on which has new features such as Battlefield Promotions and Improved Lua Scripting. Return to the Roots supports multiple operating systems, being playable on Windows 7, Vista & XP as well as Mac OS X and Linux

The Settlers - Top quality C64 music remix released

Here's something we haven't featured for awhile, a damn fine C64 remix. Thus the latest release of "The Settlers" by JSL will not only impress but bring back those great gaming Settlers days on the Amiga. If anyone doesn't know what Settlers was about, it was basically a game where by you build up your village, mine for resources and spread yourself across wide areas with military buildings. This remix is both a joy to listen to and very well put together, the only downside is the background just scrolls in a repeated loop.

Sunday Remix! - A nice Amiga mix of music for today's tunes! (06/04/14)

Good evening readers, you may have noticed the lack of posts this weekend. That was due to me being unwell and also having to deal with a corrupt operating system and a busted soundcard. Thankfully, I was able to use the mac and pick some damn fine tunes for you today. Now today's tunes are all Amiga remixes unlike the recent retro head bangers, but that doesn't mean they don't sound as good! So as usual, sit back and enjoy but because some of these really are very famous games.
