King’s Quest – New Reveal Trailer & Remakes!

Back in August of this year we mentioned the big Sierra tease for the latest King's Quest game that was given it's first announcement. The very first King's Quest was released way back in 1984 and with a series of sequels is remembered as some of the best adventure games ever made. You can still play a number of remakes and original Amiga titles available from our website. As for today's news, Sierra Games has released the Game Awards 2014 Reveal Trailer for the next King's Quest game. Developed by The Odd Gentlemen, the new King’s Quest re-imagines all the charm, humour, puzzles, exploration and sense of wonder that made the franchise so magical when it first arrived thirty years ago.

Bopscotch - Classic "runner" gets a September release date!

We were just informed by those rather kind bunch of people at Leda Entertainment, who we've met at Geek 2014. That Bopscotch will be available for Windows Phone, Android and iOS mobile devices, and also Xbox360 this September 2014! As someone who has played Bopscotch, this is a "runner" style of platform game that everyone should play with a friend, and as you'll see from my game play view it's just so much fun.

Wyv and Keep - A stylish grid-based action/puzzle game now for Linux (+DEMO)

Developed by A Jolly Corpse is a highly developed stylish grid-based action/puzzle game titled Wyv and Keep, which has just been released for Linux. This game was a fun yet popular title, which was originally developed for the PC, MAC and XBOX 360, so now even Linux users can join in too. Graphics are of high quality with plenty of fun puzzles to keep that re playability going. As the developer states :  The central gameplay focus is on puzzle solving using a joint team effort, and in some instances, precise timing and action-puzzle navigation are key. For the bulk of the adventure, the ultimate goal is to navigate past a series of obstacles and activate a switch to open the level's exit and advance to the next stage.

Putty was first released on the Amiga in 1992 and this aims to be a remake with  improved visuals, enhanced gameplay and the promise of free downloadable levels. They've got a lot to live up to, to beat the original, however looking at the video it looks damn good fun! Lets hope eh?

Xbox Live Recommendation Of The Week: Beyond Good And Evil HD

This game developed by Ubisoft and Rayman creator Michael Ancel may have not been successful during its initial release, but it won many awards and has been voted in many lists as one of the greatest games ever created. Now available in digitally remastered, High Definition format.

Xbox Live Recommendation Of The Week

Tony Hawk is widely considered as one of the greatest professional skateboarders in history, and, unless you have been living in a cave for fourteen years, you have probably played one of his games on the various consoles for which they are available.

This new release is a special re-release of the most popular levels from the first two games, now in High Definition and with new game modes and online multiplayer.

Xbox Live Recommendation Of The Week: Hydro Thunder Hurricane

This week's recommendation is for the racing fans. A truly retro franchise originally found in arcades, then later on the Dreamcast, N64 and Playstation, this newest Hydro Thunder sequel is a must-have, for established fans, or those wanting to enjoy racing on water.

Xbox Live Recommendation Of The Week: Beat Hazard

This week I am recommending the Xbox Live Indie Marketplace release Beat hazard, a game that combines both indie, and retro. This multi-platform (PC, Mac, Linux, mobile and console) game is a modern interpretation of the classic Asteroids style gameplay, with a really interesting twist... The game's soundtrack actually effects the gameplay!

Xbox Live Recommendation Of The Week: Game Room

Released back in 2010, this multi-platform (available for Xbox 360, PC and Windows Phone 7) download is an absolute essential for retro gaming fans, especially since it is free.

Retro Arcade Adventure Remade - Arcade hack and slash

Another unusual game that is about to arrive this Thursday for Xbox 360 and later PC is Retro Arcade Adventure Remade from developers Siactro. This being an Arcade hack and slash style game, with plenty of enemies to fight in a top down view, although it does have two mini games. You'll also be fighting huge mini bosses, especially those that loom over the horizon towards you! But even these come with a twist, like slashing back projectiles. The character would also look pretty decent in an nes style Zelda game, with his sword and the use of potions.

DuckTales Remastered announced by Capcom

Hot news!!!! Capcom has announced, they will launch the hit NES game DuckTales as a remastered version for the summer of 2013. Now I know this will not be an Indie game and Capcom are not Indie developers, but this is a game that I have fond memories of from 1989. I can even hear the theme tune now playing in my head, I even had very fond memories of the Disney cartoon! This hopefully great remastered version, will be launched for $14.99 on PlayStation Network, 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live Arcade and $15 on the Wii U. Lets hope it comes to the PC as well!
