Silent Hill 2 - Cola Powered Gamer reviews a classic Horror game!

It’s not often that a genre-defining game that’s also a sequel becomes such a massive success. You might think of games such as DOOM 2 and Street Fighter II, but when it comes to horror, one title will always come up, Silent Hill 2. After the success that was Silent Hill on the Playstation 1, Konami quickly decided to create another game in the series. You will probably notice that I didn’t use the word sequel because SH2 isn’t exactly a direct sequel to the first game.

Developed by Team Silent, immediately after the completion of Silent Hill, in June 1999. The story was written by Takoyashi Sato, with the help of Hiroyuki Owako who wrote most of the lore and dialog. Silent Hill 2’s story was inspired by Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment and elements of it, can be seen throughout the game. The budget for the game was small compared to today’s standards, and according to Sato, the budget was around 7-10 million dollars.

I'm constantly being blown away by the awesomeness that's coming out of the Pico-8 community. every time I think I've seen all this little restricted platform has to offer, something comes along to blow it out of the water! This time, after what seems a lifetime of testing on twitter, BBS user Rez has created a Zaxxon-ish clone, but also made it third person! quite a feat for a system with no actual 3D rendering pipeline baked in.

War Z - Updated Colorado map

Although I haven't played WarZ for sometime and especially as this Online Zombie Apocalypse game has been attacked by hackers left right and center. The developers are pushing out a new map update at some point during May 2013. This will be a graphical update to the cities of Colorado and as for any other updates to the map, we will have to wait and see. As for me, I'll probably be playing DayZ Epoch!

A new Aliens Versus Predator from the developers Angry Mob Games, has appeared for iOS devices and it looks pretty impressive going by the trailer and screenshots. This is AVP Evolution whereby you play as both the Alien and Predator, in a face off as if it's straight from the movies.

WarZ - Patch Notes 2/19/2013

Another patch : 2/19/2013 was just released for this Online Zombie Apocalypse game, however there are no zombie glitch fixes and no promised weapons like the Chain Saw. The loot has been well and truly busted these last few days and our clan has become rather bored of the game and it's lack of developer involvement.  Oh and did I mention that the public servers are an absolute hack fest!

Planet Explorers - explore, gather, build, create, fight & conquer

A new game which is still in development, looks to tip the balance in the creation scale. This is Planet Explorers from Pathea Games, whereby you must explore, gather, build, create, fight, and ultimately, conquer the land.  Sure, we've had so many games of this type before, however the thought of massive enemies and advanced weaponry in Planet Explorers could be something special.
