Bug Hunt [16kb cartridge] - Lots of arcade fun to be had in this C64 homebrew!

This could possibly be the best RGCD C64 16KB Cartridge Game Development Competition yet, as of all the releases so far that I have played, I haven't yet found a game that I really disliked. This is especially true of Majikeyric, NEO and Yogibear's new game of ' Bug Hunt [16kb cartridge] ' for the C64! It has the hall markings of a top quality C64 homebrew that everyone should play at least once!

Serpentes - Top quality Snake for a new age!

Snake originally came about in the mid 1970's and over the years has seen many different versions and variations on different systems. The main Goal? To gain a high enough score while controlling a snake like creature, moving around a square screen area collecting food while also avoiding your tail or other obstacles as it grows ever larger with each bite. However each variation of the Snake theme has generally been the same until Benjamin Soulé released 'Serpentes'.

Desert Golf - One small gameplay idea distilled and refined to perfection.

This is one of those games that made me step back and think about how I design games. I think I go too wide too fast when developing a game. For example if i were working on a platformer I might get a player with some basic movement then move on to working on a set of levels and then some enemies. The problem is that because I didn’t focus enough on making the movement and feel of the game good at the stage when I made the player, the rest of the game suffered. Desert Golf on the other hand is one small gameplay idea distilled and refined to perfection.

You Have 9 Bricks - WIP playable fast-paced Tower Climber

If you like your fast paced arcade style games that really keep you on your toes, then 'You Have 9 Bricks' by Rarykos certainly fits that description. A work in progress game, you are tasked as a brick of 9 that's fallen out of the wall to escape as fast as possible to escape your prison.

ClusterPuck 99 - Up to 8 player competitive fun!

Usually I'm not one for sporty type games or those that are highly competitive, yet when I saw ClusterPuck 99 it stood out from the crowd. Developed by PHLCollective, ClusterPuck 99 features up to 8 player competitive matches in both against and local co-op, as you bash each other around the map to gain control of a puck to reach the opponents goal.

Mibibli's Quest - Another crazy platformer with high difficulty!

We do love our difficult platformers that require both timing and skill to pass every deadly spike, and Mibibli's Quest by RyanMelmoth is another one of those games. Featuring a great chiptune soundtrack, a very colourful graphical art style and multiple genres of game play, this is a game that's both difficult and fun to play so highly recommended. Freely available for Windows and Mac but the developer is accepting contributions.

#LOWREZJAM 2014 - 10 awesome free low res games!

I'm not sure if many of you have been following the recent #LOWREZJAM 2014 but if you haven't, then this mighty list of awesome games might get your gaming senses tingling! The aim of this Jam was for developers around the world to make some mighty... Err I mean small rez'd games to the size of 32x32. There were no limitations to the amount of colours, sprites or anything else that could be used as long as it conformed to the low res set by the jammers! We don't usually have sitting games on IRN, I mean heck I do enough of that! But what if you could sit beside a camp fire and defend yourself while doing so. Subdog Underwater Adventure - The pixeled submarine adventure that's just a little too difficult, but still fun!

Subdog Underwater Adventure from the newly founded indie game developer Dark pixel & Osky Studios is a rather difficult game with pixelated graphics and fun game play for android devices with flash and PC coming soon. Your little doggy has launched himself into the sea in search for his bone stolen by a marine creature. But be warned as this isn't an easy game, as not only do you have the sharp edges to contend with, but many deadly enemies and traps. If you touch one, your snorkel will not save you. This is a free game, with plenty of things to do, but the only down side are the ads, but don't let that put you off, this is a neat game!
