PHASE OUT LPE v2.2 + Level-Pack Summer 2026 - A colour matching puzzler by INC-X GDG for the C64

Remember all those years ago when we featured Phase Out by Ernst Neubeck and Simon Quernhorst? Well, there's some good news today. As browsing itch.io, I came across a new edition called PHASE OUT LPE v2.2, which also features the highly anticipated Summer 2026 Level-Pack. A tactical, color-matching puzzle game designed for fans of spatial logic, where the primary objective is to clear the board by swapping adjacent colored gems to create matches of two or more.

NERO - Errazking's SEUCK C64 game features music by Richard Bayliss

As promised we are moving away from Greenlight, and yes even Indie games as now it's time to look towards the C64, as Errazking has announced the release of their SEUCK game ' NERO ', which was coded by Chris Yates, music by Richard Bayliss, graphics by Errazking and loader by Martin Piper. In this game you play as Nero working for a space agency, armed only with your trusty Magnum XII pulse laser you must go on a mission to fight a bunch of nasty pirates and their mechanoids that have taken control of a distant red planet.

Xenophobe +3DFR - Nostalgia's blasting Aliens in this trainered C64 release

Once again we are going back to the 80's and this time it's Bally Midway's Arcade game of ' Xenophobe ', which appeared on many different systems such as the Amiga and C64. It is the C64 version however which just this week got a brand new trainer +3DFR and NTSC fix from Nostalgia. The aim of the game? To wipe out the Alien infestation from Starbases, moons, ships, and space cities before the time runs out! Do you have what it takes to wipe out the Alien scum?

Bug Hunt [16kb cartridge] - Lots of arcade fun to be had in this C64 homebrew!

This could possibly be the best RGCD C64 16KB Cartridge Game Development Competition yet, as of all the releases so far that I have played, I haven't yet found a game that I really disliked. This is especially true of Majikeyric, NEO and Yogibear's new game of ' Bug Hunt [16kb cartridge] ' for the C64! It has the hall markings of a top quality C64 homebrew that everyone should play at least once!

Shockway Rider +6DGH - Hokuto Force trainers a rage worthy C64 game

Hokuto Force is at it again as they've released another C64 game with a trainer, and boy does this one need it! Originally from 1986 by FTL/Gargoyle, ' Shockway Rider ' is a futuristic game in which the speedy player must go through multiple districts using rapidly-moving side walks known as the Shockway. This also means you need to avoid citizens, objects and those that wish to attack you in a feat known as going full circle.

Avenger +5DG - C64 Gauntlet clone with new graphics by Oliver Orosz

Just recently over the weekend, Hokuto Force released the Gauntlet clone of ' Avenger +5DG ' for the C64, which originally was released way back in 1987 by Gremlin. This latest update has a brand new crack, with a new trainer and awesome graphics by Oliver Orosz, the same person behind the games Jani and graphical designs for Mystic Mansion and Guardian. In Avenger you play as a Ninja and after successfully completing your training, must avenge your step father and take back the scrolls of Ketsuin from the wicked Yaemon to appease the God kwon and release from eternal hell.

Happy Blocks Basic - Early preview of a C64 game by Steveboy

Well it's time to put aside the other retro systems for a bit and move onto one of our favourite ones, the C64, as we have a new game to show you! Currently available as an early preview of a work in progress game, ' Happy Blocks ' is being developed by Steveboy for the C64 and is a non stop block avoiding Arcade style release, that requires you to keep going to reach an ever higher score.

Hessian - Action Adventure from Covert Bitops for the C64 is finally here!

Hot off the press and just released, the C64 retro community is finally able to play the action adventure game ' Hessian ' for the C64! Oh yes, a game that has been in development for years with a first preview appearing way back in 2012 is now ready for your gaming enjoyment. In this fine looking title, you play the role of Kim, a night security guard working the night shift at a Throne Group science complex who wakes up in an improvised emergency operating room. When the Group's inventions spiral out of control, she gets the unenviable part of becoming an augmented, misanthropic, heavily armed savoir and ready to kick ass!

JANI 2 - A new seuck C64 game by Oliver Orosz gets a sequel

Just a month after talking about Oliver Orosz's SEUCK top scrolling shooter of ' JANI ', we have just been given the heads up by Aaron White of RGDS Podcast, that the same developer has released the sequel ' JANI 2 ' for the C64. Although very similar in game play it has completely different landscape colour schemes and enemy designs.

Professional Lode Runner - Clean up version of a great C64 game!

When I was just a youngster one game I remember so fondly, was the 1980's classic Lode Runner. It was a game I used to play on a original monochrome Macintosh for many hours in a darkened room away from the outside world. It was actually published by Brøderbund in 1983 and appeared on so many systems, it would be easy enough even now to find a copy. In fact the C64 had many different versions differing in level design, speed and even containing an editor. As such, it is the Professional Lode Runner modified by DARTS in 1987, and released today by Reengine & Mod for the C64 as a clean up version, that deserves a mention.

Hideous Bill & the Gi-Gants - It's almost like Pacman for the C64 but with Ants!

Hokuto Force gave us the heads up last night to mention their latest trainered release of ' Hideous Bill & the Gi-Gants ' which was first published by Virgin Games, way back in 1983! In this Pacman style game, you must follow the instructions carefully before starting each mission to make sure you know how to rescue your lady friend Greta from being Ant food. Unlike Pacman this game is far more involved as each level differs, from squashing eggs, to using items to opening up mechanisms. Now once again this cool game has been re-released by Hokuto Force but with 4 Trainers, Dox, a HS Saver, the ingame reset protection was removed and as bonus they added a pic inspired to the sci-fi movies of the 50's in black and white

Rupert and the Toymaker's Party - First time trainer for this cute C64 game

In 1985 there was a cute and family fun game released for the C64 called ' Rupert and the Toymaker's Party ', which was developed by Martin Walker and published by Quicksilver for both the C64 and the ZX Spectrum. This game was based on the very famous cartoon character Rupert Bear and had you tasked with getting to a party in the Toymakers castle, to meet his friends by collecting all the party invitations his friends left behind for him, because he made himself late! So as you now know the basic story of the game, you can once again play it but this time by Hokuto Force who has given the game it's very first trainer; ' Rupert and the Toymaker's Party +3DG '.

JANI - A new seuck C64 game by Oliver Orosz that is worth a play!

Before I even had the chance to play this C64 release by Oliver Orosz, what caught my eye was the attention to detail in both the landscape and the character in the supplied screenshot via the CSDb website. As such I rushed off to download the seuck game called ' JANI ' and was ready for what I would hope would be an enjoyable game that wasn't all about the image in front of me. Thankfully I wasn't let down.

Meadowbrook Nine - Hokuto Force releases a rare hole in one C64 Golf game!

Let me be honest with you, I can't stand Golf! I never enjoyed watching it or even playing it, the only game I enjoyed playing was Mini Golf as it was just way more fun, especially with the family. But alas this isn't Mini Golf but a rare C64 game called: Meadowbrook Nine , which according to Hokuto Force has been saved for the sake of preserving C64 rare stuff!

Flying Cobra RX - An unseen shoot 'em up blasts its way on to the C64

The New Dimension with creation by Alf Yngve have left 2015 and into 2016 with an almighty blast, as they have released a very special unseen version of an old SEUCK creation, which was made back in 2010, but never saw the light of day until the release of the disk version of Kung Fu Maniacs, but pushed to the limit with even more game enhancements! This is the very good Shoot 'em up of ' Flying Cobra RX ' for the C64!

Vault Man 2 Preview - Early version of a puzzling C64 game

Through a lack of replies on the CSDb site and from a group that I've not heard of before called ' Iceout ' I thought it would be a good idea to let everyone know about an early C64 game preview they've released titled ' Vault Man 2 ', which was developed by Charles Grey! The aim of this game is to collect as many of the golden bars in the level as possible and bring them to the vault door. With all the bars collected, you can make your escape. Be warned, as it's a vault, there's a lack of oxygen, and if you don't return to the door in time you'll pass out and die!

Robocop +8DFHIR - Nostalgia bug fixes a mighty C64 game!

I cannot believe we nearly missed out on this great Nostalgia C64 scene release and if it wasn't for our good friend Asger Bonnevie we probably would have!  Let me just shout the game name out in large caps to grab your attention 'ROBOCOP'. That's right retro heads this is Robocop originally published by Ocean in the 80's, that's once again available for the C64, but this time has been fully bug fixed, NTSC fixed, a damn fine trainer added, and a brilliant intro by Nostalgia themselves!

Jump Ninja - A frustrating play of Wanax's new C64 preview

Another C64 release to mention, and this one was released last week, is Wanax's new C64 game preview of ' Jump Ninja ', that has been scene supplied and trained by Atlantis and the Fantastic 4 Cracking Group. What plays like a really frustrating Flappy Bird clone as in timing is everything and if you're not accurate you have to restart, Jump Ninja was developed for his son Francesco hoping this might be a game to attract a new generation of C64 users.

Mining - Minimalistic Boulder Dash clone for the C64

Now that family time is over, it's time to get back to what I enjoying the most, and that is of course writing about retro games! So to start this Sunday evening off with some fun, Genesis Project with original supply by Hedning GP have trainer released ' Mining' for the C64; a minimilistic Boulder Dash clone originally released in the German magazine 64'er back in 1989.

QUOD INIT EXIT V1.05 - A very colourful and cute C64 release

It may be midnight here in the UK, but this game is so nice to play and to listen to that I just had to give it a special mention on Indie Retro News. A game that has a cute pig, lots of fast moving fruit and it's all so colourful you'd be silly not to load up your C64 just to play it. This is ' QUOD INIT EXIT V1.05 ' by Retream; an Arcade homebrew which was made available for download this weekend!
