Unique and historically important working Psygnosis Amiga 3000 goes up on Ebay

From prototypes to working hardware and games that have been lost and found, there's always something we haven't seen that hits the headlines much to the delight of the retro community. Well thanks to a heads up by Mike Clarke, he us told us he is selling an Amiga 3000 with quite a bit of history. This Amiga 3000 as noted on the Ebay page, is a one of a kind Amiga as used by various artists at Psygnosis and sold by Mike, who also told us he worked at Psygnosis from 1992 to 1999 doing audio and this was one of a number of machines he rescued that had been placed in a corridor ready to be thrown out.

Walker (Psygnosis Game, Commodore Amiga, 1993) reviewed by AlanG

I always liked the film Karate Kid. Released in 1984 it told the story of Daniel LaRusso, a high school student who moves from New Jersey to California and is subsequently targeted by a group of bullies that all attend the same Karate school. He is befriended by Mr Miyagi, his apartment block’s handyman, who teaches him another form of Karate to defend himself. The instruction sees him setting Daniel a series of seemingly menial, boring, mind numbing tasks, such as painting his fence and waxing his car. The film concludes with Daniel taking on his tormentors one-by-one in a karate tournament and (major spoiler alert (if it is possible to post spoilers on a film thirty-four years old…)) ultimately winning all the fights and the respect of his former enemies. It is a typical Hollywood tale of the underdog standing up against much greater forces at seemingly impossible odds and at the time was lots of fun.

Shadow of the Beast Demo shown on a GX4000 and Amstrad Plus!

The Amstrad has had it good this year, what with the recent #CPCRetroDev 2017 showing us awesome games such as Baba's Palace and Profanation 2, plus the incredible in development Pinball Dreams CPC, which looks almost as good as the Amiga version but in glorious 8-bit. But now the Amstrad scene is going all out, as thanks to Logon System who came second 2nd at the Alchimie 2017 event, they have shown us  the Amstrad GX4000 and Amstrad Plus running Eerie Forest. Which is actually a rather smooth scrolling demo of Shadow of the Beast, that looks amazing indeed!

Shadow of the Beast 1-3 - Psygnosis classic trilogy unofficially re-released as Amiga-PC/MAC playable files

Another great day of writing for Indie Retro News as Gamesnostalgia has made available the PC playable files of an Amiga hit trilogy 'Shadow of the Beast 1-3', which even today if you can find the originals is a must have in any collection, especially if you can find the T-Shirt found in the first Amiga game! In regards to this trilogy of awesomeness, these three games were released from 1989 to 1992, published by Psygnosis, and whereas the first game featured not just revolutionary graphics for its time with up to twelve levels of parallax scrolling backdrops and an atmospheric score by David Whittaker, the sequels were composed by Tim Wright.

More! Lemmings - An Amiga Jay Unofficial CD32 Release for Christmas [Flashtro UPDATE]

During the early part of this year 2016, it was the 25th Anniversary of DMA Design's ' Lemmings '. A game published by Psygnosis way back in the early 90's for the Amiga, Atari ST and PC and regarded by many as one of the greatest games ever and featured many blue, green haired Lemmings that could be blown up, ripped apart and dropped from the highest of points before they even hope to reach that exit. But it wasn't just the digging, blocking and thought worthy gameplay that made people love it so, but it had some really chippy tunes that sound great today, even remixed! Thus as a special release by Amiga Jay he has unofficially released the More! Lemmings extravaganza on the Amiga CD32.

Hired Guns - An Amiga Sci-fi experience like no other on the PC

As its my Birthday today, I thought it best to celebrate by mentioning one of the best games on the Amiga, 'Hired Guns', which has been packaged together with FS-UAE for playability on the PC by GamesNostalgia. First released in 1993 for both Amiga and DOS, this game was the highlight of my gaming youth developed by DMA Design and published by Psygnosis. It put you in charge of 4 mercenaries lured into a trap! A weapons proving ground whereby you must defend yourself against genetically engineered creatures.

Walker - Amiga blaster classic demo'd on the ZX Spectrum

Walker on the Amiga was an incredible action packed shooter by DMA Design/Psygnosis. It was released way back in 1993 and puts you and possibly a friend in control of a giant walker like machine, through multiple time periods blasting both man and vehicle to pieces with a very powerful gun. It was such a great game to play and to look at, that I was surprised to learn this week of a ZX port by Russian coders 'Alien Factory' in 2001-9 to the ZX Spectrum (Pentagon clone)

Amiga CD32 owners rejoice! WALKER is now on the Amiga CD32!

Of all the games to be pushed onto the Amiga CD32 that I just can't wait to play, has to be the "bloody" fine game ' WALKER', which today has been converted over by Earok and team to the CD32. This incredible action packed shooter by DMA Design/Psygnosis, which was released way back in 1993, puts you and possibly a friend in control of a giant walker like machine, through multiple time periods blasting both man and vehicle to pieces with a very powerful gun.

Lemmings Techno Remix by RIGELZ

It's incredible to think that this weekend was the 25th Anniversary of DMA Design's ' Lemmings ', a game published by Psygnosis way back in the early 90's for the Amiga, Atari ST and PC. It is one of the greatest games ever and featured many blue, green haired Lemmings that could be blown up, ripped apart and dropped from the highest of points before they even hope to reach that exit. But it wasn't just the digging, blocking and thought worthy gameplay that made people love it so, but it had some really chippy tunes that sound great even today. One of those tunes has been remixed by RIGELZ also known as Anton Eriksson, and although it's a short remix, the creator has promised to make it longer and for that I'm really grateful.

GRIP - Rollcage inspirational racer Dance of Destruction Trailer

Although we have already done a big feature on Caged Element's futuristic racer of 'GRIP' which is inspired by the incredible fast paced racer of Rollcage, published by Psygnosis way back in 1999. We are here to give you the heads up over a new Dance of Destruction Trailer that has been released during the Kickstarter campaign. Currently the Kickstarter still has a long way to go in pledging as so far they have reached a $141,282 pledged of $657,000 goal, but with the hope of the destructive power of the cinematic trailer to entice people to start backing. So sit back and enjoy!

GRIP - Futuristic racer with Rollcage inspirations aims for Kickstarter success!

After our recent heads up for the announcement of 'GRIP', which is inspired by the incredible fast paced racer of Rollcage, published by Psygnosis way back in 1999. We were met with much excitement from the gaming community and as such GRIP developed by Caged Element, raced through a Steam Greenlight success and is now aiming for Kickstarter funding. Featuring intense driving with up to 700 km/h on floors, walls and ceilings , exotic locations, high powered machines, powerful weapons and pick ups and awesome tunes; Grip is being developed using the Unreal 4 engine for PC and PS4 and will pull our nostalgic past into a modern future at incredible speed and jaw dropping detail.

Unreleased Amiga game Superhero gets a second chance

Back in 1993 there was a "The One" coverdisk demo and several previews for a Psygnosis platform come beat 'em up fusion called Superhero. There was a fair amount of anticipation for the game, it was 99% complete, posters and other promo materials were produced, then nothing. It simply vanished. Everyone assumed it was simply a case of the game being canned as is so typical in the games industry, despite its near completion. In fact the truth was far more complex...

GRIP - Futuristic racer with Rollcage inspirations aiming for Kickstarter

I did not think today could get any better and it just has with the latest announcement of 'GRIP', which is inspired by the incredible fast paced racer of Rollcage, published by Psygnosis way back in 1999. A game that featured unique physics as you could drive on walls or ceilings at mind blowing speeds, will once again take it's place in this latest title of GRIP, developed by Chris Mallinson and Robert Baker. Featuring intense driving, exotic locations, high powered machines, powerful weapons and awesome times, Grip is developed using the Unreal 4 engine for PC and Linux and is not only aiming for your Steam Greenlight votes, but a prototype trailer has been released for the upcoming Kickstarter campaign.

Lemmings Pre-Release Demo - The lost Amiga soundtrack!

Here's something you don't see every day as Cauterize from EAB has come across an old 1990's pre-release demo of Lemmings; which was a puzzle-platformer video game originally published by Psygnosis for the Amiga in 1991. According to Cauterize it features a different title screen, varied music and a new level ordering. What was also interesting about this pre-release demo as mentioned by s2325, was a "lost" soundtrack. The music cannot be heard throughout the demo itself, but rather the mod files need to be extracted out of the disk. Also according to S2325, Mindless at lemmingsforums.net was the one to extract the data files. The tracks in this set are sorted in a random order, as there is no way to figure out on which levels the tracks were assigned. So here we have the full soundtrack, available to listen to on Youtube.

Shadow of the Beast Legacy - Slightly optimized VRAM use update for a remade classic!

Back by popular demand is the latest update to a highly recommended system port remake of Shadow of the Beast 1-3. Originally published by Psygnosis in 1989-1990 Shadow of the Beast was a side scrolling platformer and featured not just revolutionary graphics but an atmospheric score by David Whittaker! Even now I sit listening to the music during the main menu and look back to a golden age of gaming. But enough about that, the latest release of Shadow of the Beast Legacy by darkfalzx' for a multitude of systems has had another update!

Globdule - There's alot of Cute in this Amiga Platformer (PC Playable)

Game Type : Platformer
Launcher Developer :  The Company.pl
Game Info : Globdule was an Amiga scrolling screen platformer game released in 1993 by Psygnosis. Your character has the rather funny name of Globdule, and with such games as Putty and Superfrog before it, the developers took the squishy blob character, made him purple, and re-invented the genre! The story goes that Globdule was a failed attempt at making a new toy for children, and he was scrapped. But not to be a complete failure, the little purple blob goes on an adventure to find the toy maker and ask him why. This Platformer gave you the ability to stick to everything in the game, but you had no weapons. Enemies and other such danger areas must be avoided. The levels are long and fustrating with many gamers being unable to actually complete the game due to certain fustrations. Yet it's well worth reliving those days and being all nostaligic. Thanks to The Company.pl, which have just released/updated to version 2.6 you can now play this on your PC.
Release : Available now FREE
Systems : PC
