EON AMIGA AGA - Shadow of the Beast inspiration is coming to an Amiga near you

With another week ahead of us full of great retro games, we were contacted this weekend from Solo, that Goblins, AmigaWave and Wonderboy Bobi, have teased a new video for their upcoming Amiga AGA game called 'EON' . This game which was first officially announced back in Jan of last year, was apparently released way back in 2014 by Worderboy Bobi, as a short playable demo inspired by games such as Shadow of the Beast or Lion Heart and classed as an action RPG with skill and items progression.

Shadow of the Beast - A proof of concept for the Intellivision available for testing!

As many of you are aware by now Matthew Kiehl is not only bringing the classic game of Prince of Persia to the Intellivision, but also Mega Man 2 and one of my all time favourite games on the NES, Castlevania. Thankfully those games are still in development, especially with IntelliVania coming this year, but the news of today isn't related to those games, as Matthew Kiehl has shown a proof of concept of Shadow of the Beast being loaded and actually played on the Intellivision.

Here at Indie Retro News we try to give you the latest in unusual releases that don't often get a website mention, especially lately as there's been many of them, from homebrew games to updated Amiga titles. Yet here we are with another news special, as we've just been informed by the coder named as pvmpkin, that he has released an early Atari 2600 demo demake of an all time classic game Shadow of the Beast, which has been demade called SHADOW OF THE ATARI!

During the 8-bit home computer heyday of the eighties, Amstrad fans noticed a phenomenon that continued all the way up until the CPC's discontinuation. Many games were released that didn't appear to be optimized for the system's strengths and thus lots of lackluster games came to the party. This was eventually explained to the common user that the games, were ported from a rival machine... the ZX Spectrum.

The Amstrad has had it good this year, what with the recent #CPCRetroDev 2017 showing us awesome games such as Baba's Palace and Profanation 2, plus the incredible in development Pinball Dreams CPC, which looks almost as good as the Amiga version but in glorious 8-bit. But now the Amstrad scene is going all out, as thanks to Logon System who came second 2nd at the Alchimie 2017 event, they have shown us  the Amstrad GX4000 and Amstrad Plus running Eerie Forest. Which is actually a rather smooth scrolling demo of Shadow of the Beast, that looks amazing indeed!

Shadow of the Beast 1-3 - Psygnosis classic trilogy unofficially re-released as Amiga-PC/MAC playable files

Another great day of writing for Indie Retro News as Gamesnostalgia has made available the PC playable files of an Amiga hit trilogy 'Shadow of the Beast 1-3', which even today if you can find the originals is a must have in any collection, especially if you can find the T-Shirt found in the first Amiga game! In regards to this trilogy of awesomeness, these three games were released from 1989 to 1992, published by Psygnosis, and whereas the first game featured not just revolutionary graphics for its time with up to twelve levels of parallax scrolling backdrops and an atmospheric score by David Whittaker, the sequels were composed by Tim Wright.

Unofficial CD32 Release - Psygnosis : The Complete Amiga Works from Amiga Jay

It's only the third of November and here we are mentioning another fantastic Amiga CD32 release by Amiga Jay. Welcome to the 'Unofficial CD32 Release - Psygnosis : The Complete Amiga Works', in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Psygnosis first Amiga game 'Brataccas'. This is an incredible compilation and can be classed as one of Amiga Jay's very best for the Amiga CD32, which going by how legendary Psygnosis are, you'll be pleased to know it has everything befitting the publisher known for games such as Shadow of the Beast, Oh No! More Lemmings and Armour Geddon II.

Shadow of the Beast+ - Early Amstrad CPC Plus musical demo tease!

During the early part of 2015 we mentioned the brilliant Amstrad emulator 'JavaCPC' and the Amstrad CPC music remake of the hit Amiga classic 'Shadow of the Beast', which was originally released by Psygnosis and music by David Whittaker in 1989. This musical remake by SuTeKH/Epyteor was titled 'EERIE FOREST' and came across very well on the old Amstrad. But now it looks as we've got an even better version to show, an actual Amstrad CPC Plus demo with moving animation.

JavaCPC Desktop - Impressive CPC emulation and Shadow of the Beast [UPDATE]

A world without emulation, what a thought! No way of playing retro games other than on the system hardware they were designed for and having to spend thousands upon thousands of pounds just to play every game in that retro catalogue. So we have to be thankful for emulation such as the Amstrad CPC - JavaCPC Desktop by Devil Markus (Markus Hohmann), of which we are going to give a quick feature today that does a lot more than play just Amstrad games.

Shadow of the Beast Legacy - Slightly optimized VRAM use update for a remade classic!

Back by popular demand is the latest update to a highly recommended system port remake of Shadow of the Beast 1-3. Originally published by Psygnosis in 1989-1990 Shadow of the Beast was a side scrolling platformer and featured not just revolutionary graphics but an atmospheric score by David Whittaker! Even now I sit listening to the music during the main menu and look back to a golden age of gaming. But enough about that, the latest release of Shadow of the Beast Legacy by darkfalzx' for a multitude of systems has had another update!
