Exolon X2 - Retro gaming classic by Hewson will soon feature unofficial 2 player co-op!
In 1987 Hewson released the excellent action run and gun game ' Exolon ' for the ZX Spectrum, C64 and Amstrad CPC, with a later conversion to the Enterprise 128, Amiga and Atari ST. In the game, you played as a sci-fi soldier across multiple screens blasting away enemies and defending yourself against gun defences as well as homing missiles. A decent game for its time, as well as having a remake in 2005 thanks to Restrospec, is now going to feature a two player split screen co-op mode, that is being worked on by Shan@ShanJuso and is due for a future PC release
Super Uwol - Uwol Quest For Money gets a two player update for the SG-1000 & SMS
In 2009 The Mojon Twins with publishing rights by Ubhres Productions released the homebrew platformer of ' Uwol, Quest For Money ' for the ZX Spectrum with a much higher quality port for the Sega Genesis and then the MSX 2 by Imanok in July of 2016. Today however the game has got a rather lovely 2 player addition and ported over to the SG-1000 with a new name of Super Uwol. As a heads up by the devs the game has been finished for some time, holding back until the crowdfunded physical copy of the main port (the NES version of the game) was ready and works on the SEGA SG-1000 range of consoles (Mark I, Mark II) including the Master System!
Cowboy Duel Junior - Live Your Dream ...Again! - Dueling fun for C64
Once again the C64 gets another homebrew release, (poor Amstrad) and for once it's not a shoot em up or a platformer, but an upto two player duel-er. " Cowboy Duel Junior - Live Your Dream ...Again is a fine release as you play as a Cowboy and must kill the other player either AI or a friendly opponent using the secondary joystick port. There are a number of desert scenes available to play on, which really gives it that authentic 8-bit Cowboy feel.

Super Tank Wars - 90's retro inspired tank action mash up!
We don't get many two player games on Indie Retro News, so it was nice to hear from HOT 'n SPICY Games about their new PC, Linux title Super Tank Wars, that's due for Desura Alpha-Funding starting in early August 2014. What looks to be a Beat 'em up mashed with a Shoot 'em up but with tanks, features fast paced retro inspired arcade action from the 90's in a top down view as you shoot and blast each other into tiny pieces.

Lotus III: The Ultimate Challenge - A compilation of the best Amiga racing series (PC Playable)
Game Type : Racing, Single Player, Two Player
Amiga Launcher Developer : The Company.pl
Original Developer : Magnetic Fields
Game Info : For me, Lotus released during the 90's was one of the best racing games on the Amiga, it was so much fun, with great graphics and the ability to race your friend(s) in split screen. It gave a true speed feeling, whizzing past other cars on the road or through tunnels trying to come first place. What's more, it even had weather affects! Not to be left out though, the music was very very good, I can even hear the music going through my head right now, do do do do, ok I'll stop now. But seriously, download this right now, you wont be disappointed. Thanks to The Company.pl the Amiga version has been released/updated to version 2.6 so you can now play this on your PC with higher graphical filters

Fighting Street - Street fighter in a new style of game play!
Game Type : Beat em up,Fighter
Developer : SEEP
Developer Game Quote : The idea behind Fighting Street which can not be called a remake but a real parallel play that reflects the spirit of the 'original Street Fighter, with its settings and characters, music and sound effects, the flavor of the 80's and part of our childhood. However, it changes the alchemy transforming it from a normal beat em up to a beat em up action with strong colors and multiple styles. In fact the game is not the classic scrolling beat em up, but will boast very different missions, including platforming sections, and stage-style action. All this will be included in story mode with alternate phases in the two classic heroes Ryu and Ken.

Angry Farmer - Lets do some PVP RTS trolling! (Kickstarter)
Classed as the first "troll" social farm game with full pvp, comes a game where you compete against another player in a crazy farming experience. This is Angry Farmers, by developers MadSword. But as you can probably tell by the cover shot, this is no ordinary farming game. Farming collides with fast paced combat and dynamic battles, through the use of strategy and skill experimentation. What also makes this game unique, according to the developers, is unlike other "social" games which you play all by yourself and visit your friends only once per day, in Angry Farmer you can play with your buddies all day long. The colourful design really stands out and add that to the simplicity of the game, it could be a lot of fun!
