Miracle Boy in Dragon Land - In development Atari 520 ST game as an unofficial Wonder Boy sequel

Wonder Boy has been mentioned countless times on Indie Retro News, from the latest Amiga Arcade like release of Wonder Boy on the Amiga, to the more modern spiritual successor of Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. Well here with another Wonder Boy story, as we have been informed that Samuel Blanchard is working an unofficial Wonder Boy sequel for the Atari 520 ST called 'Miracle Boy in Dragon Land'. In light of this news, we also have a new screenshot and video to show you from this very early work in progress game.

Immortal Ka - A great nod to the 16bit classics and it's only a PC prototype

I said to myself today, I seriously need a damn good entertaining indie game to play that would keep me occupied for more than just a few mins. Well the good news is, I've found it with 'Immortal Ka'. However Immortal Ka by Josyan is more than just an indie game, it's an indie game as a nod to the Arcade classics such as Ghosts 'n Goblins and even Super Big Karnak. Thankfully even though the game is just a prototype from a cancelled game, the team behind Immortal Ka has atleast made it available to play right now.

Slug vs Lettuce - A fun for all the family Arcade game via Scene World Magazine

Once again another retro heads up from Saberman, as we've just been told that a new game has been released for the Commodore 64 called 'Slug vs Lettuce' by Scene World Magazine. A game in which playing as a Slug, you must traverse through a one level cave system eating as much lettuce as possible for a high score. To coincide with this retro gaming news, Saberman has also done a video showing the gameplay and the music by Richard Bayliss.

Santa's Workout 2 - Help Santa in this new C64 game for Christmas by Vector5 Games

With Christmas being less than a month away you'd expect to see lots of Christmas themed games appearing on Indie Retro News in the lead up to the 25th. Well that's certainly happening this week, as the first game to be mentioned on our site is a Christmas game by Vector5games for the C64 called 'Santa's Workout 2 '; a brand new Commodore 64 puzzle game in which you need to help Santa to the exit by pushing lots of ice blocks.

Last Action Hero - An enhanced(hack) version of a 1994 brawler via AmigaLive!

While I do try to avoid writing on weekends, this was too good not to spread the word! As thanks to both Earok and Saberman letting us know earlier today, they have told us that AmigaLive has made available a hack of the Amiga version of the 1994 game 'Last Action Hero'. As in the words of Earok "AmigaLive did a hack of the Last Action Hero awhile ago, I got permission to repost it here. It features a raft of gameplay balance tweaks to improve on the notorious film tie in."

Uridium - A demo of the unofficial Amiga version of Uridium has been found

A long time ago Hewson Consultants made great games for old retro computers such as the fantastic Uridium, Paradroid, Cybernoid, Exolon, Nebulus and many more were just some of the games they released that many of us have played and enjoyed. Well if you loved playing Uridium back in the day and want to see what the original game would look like on the Amiga, then we have been told a demo has surfaced of the unofficial Amiga version which has been recovered and made available for download.

SuperHair 2 Revenge of the Wizard - For the first time Super Hair goes Isometric in this upcoming ZX Spectrum game

Putting aside the Amiga and Amstrad news, as we've just come across an update from Micro Chops, that a new game is being developed for the ZX Spectrum called Super Hair 2 : Revenge of the Wizard. A game which doesn't just star the character Super Hair, but unlike all the previous platformers we've featured with this character, SuperHair 2 Revenge of the Wizard is going isometric. Darkula - A high quality Amstrad game as a port of the 2019 PC version is coming

Fabulous news has just hit our inbox, as we have just found out, that if you have enjoyed any of Locomalito's games such as Maldita Castilla, Super Hydorah or even Darkula. You'll be pleased to learn that the 2019 PC game of Darkula, is being ported over to the Amstrad CPC by 21Bloques. A frantic fixed platform game designed like a 1983 coin-op arcade, with inspirations such as Mappy, Mouser, Arabian and many other great Arcade classics!

Chaos Arena - Be careful not to fall off in this new multiplayer Amiga game by Last Minute Creations

Last Minute Creations is certainly no stranger to Indie Retro News, creating unique games such as GermZ and Atarenium Falcon. Well here we are with another Amiga news story for our fine readers, as the same developer has contacted us to let you know of a new game they've released called 'Chaos Arena'. A new multiplayer game in which playing as any number of warriors on the screen must push each other off the Arena to be the last Warrior standing. In light of this news, Saberman has also done a gameplay video for you to watch.

Wonder Boy - An Arcade game from 1986 as an unofficial Amiga port by Acidbottle gets a new update

We've featured Wonderboy many times now on Indie Retro News, from the modern remake of Wonderboy The Dragons Trap, to the Amiga versions of Wonderboy in Monster Land SE, and the more recent Arcade to Amiga port of Wonderboy by Acidbottle. Well here's another Amiga update for you all, as we've recently found out through his website, that Acidbottle has released a brand new update to his previously released Amiga version of Wonderboy. In light of this news you can check out some footage of the game running on real hardware and emulation below.

Magic & Legend: Time Knights - Welcome to a new Gameboy and Game Boy Colour game!

The Game Boy was a huge part of my childhood, games such as Tetris, Mario and even PaperBoy was played for many hours, even when trying to see the damn thing on long haul travels. So to see a new Game Boy and Game Boy Colour game called ' Magic & Legend: Time Knights ' announced as available for purchase, I just had to give it a shout out! You see this game doesn't just have lots of dynamic levels, but there's a ton of gameplay to be had in this new game from Giles Hamson and his two kids (4 & 5yr olds).

Bruxolico - This upcoming ZX Spectrum game from Amaweks looks very cool indeed!

Another ZX Spectrum game to be mentioned this week, as we've recently found out via Facebook, that if you are looking for a new platformer to play, whereby you can kick the *beep* out of enemies, then make sure to keep an eye on Paulo Andrés(Amaweks) upcoming game of Bruxólico. A game which is inspired by the folklore of Florianópolis, in particular the work of the artists Franklin Cascaes and Peninha. To coincide with this news, another teaser video has been posted showing a work in progress stage 4.

Projects in the attic - A testing-ground for wannabe projects and/or wasted possibilities for the Commodore Amiga

Even though the highlight of this week just has to be the awesome release of the C64/C128 version of Eye of the Beholder, it's still worth mentioning this latest news story sent to us by Per Ola Eriksson and Saberman. As they have told us, that Electric Black Sheep who were behind the upcoming Amiga games of 'Project Quest' and 'None of Us', have made available a ton of games that were used as testing-ground for wannabe projects and/or wasted possibilities for the Commodore Amiga. In light of this news, Saberman has also done a number of videos of these games viewable below.

Missile Command on the Amstrad CPC+ and GX4000 and it looks pretty decent!

The iconic Atari game Missile Command didn't get the best of ports even on the Amstrad, but that is about to change. As thanks to yet another gaming heads up from Saberman, he has told us that Ayor61 and team, have released a much improved version of the game over to the Amstrad CPC+ and GX4000. As in the words of Ayor61 "For 50th years birthday of Atari, and as a tribute to one of my first childhood game on Atari 2600, Here is Missile Command! An adaptation from scratch for the Amstrad GX4000 / CPC+"

Eye of the Beholder C64/128 - Eagerly awaited Dungeon Crawler from the Amiga/DOS arrives on the C64/128!

For many years now, ever since it was first announced, we've been keeping you up to date in regards to Andreas Larsson‎ and team's work in progress Eye of the Beholder port that was coming to the C64/C128, which looks as if it was released all those years ago along side the Amiga or PC. Well we've got some incredible news for you all today, as if you've been waiting to play this port on your C64 or C128, then as of today now's your chance....Eye of the Beholder has finally been released! To coincide with this news, you can view some in game footage from Saberman, or download the game below.

Zelda as an unfinished "Prototype" for the Commodore Amiga by Tukinem

If like me, you're a huge fan of Zelda, then you'll be happy to know as thanks to a heads up by Saberman, he has told us that Tukinem has made available the unfinished prototype(?) of Zelda over to the Commodore Amiga. As in his words "Work on it lasted great until I was overwhelmed by the enormity of this game, features such as additional maps with dungeons, computer AI and various armaments of our hero". In light of this news, Saberman has also done a new video showing how far the game has come in development since it was halted. 

Tenebra - An enjoyable C64/Plus4 game by Haplo arrives on the ZX Spectrum

Another Sunday retro gaming news story for you all, as we've recently been informed by Saberman, that the previously released C64 and Plus4 game of Tenebra by Haplo, is now available for the ZX Spectrum. For those of you who haven't heard of this game before, Tenebra is an atmospheric puzzle game with rogue-like elements that ended up getting a sequel for the C64 called Tenebra 2. To coincide with this news not only has Saberman done a video of Tenebra, but you can purchase it for the ZX Spectrum via the itch io page below.

Shooter - Blast away enemy targets in this new ZX Spectrum game by Zeroteam

Another ZX Spectrum game has appeared this week, as we've recently been informed via Saberman through Facebook, that if you head on over to the website linked below, you can play Zeroteam's brand new ZX Spectrum game of 'Shooter'; An arcade game in which you need wipe out as many enemy targets as possible in a training camp to get a high score. In light of this news, Saberman has also done a video of this rather unique game that isn't a platformer or puzzler, something we feature a lot ;).

Ghostly Manor - A charming little Arcade game released for the MSX2+ by 9958 Crew

Another heads up for our Indie Retro News readers, as we've recently been told by Liqmatrix that if you head on over to the itch io page linked below, you can download the latest game of Ghostly Manor by 9958 Crew for the MSX2+. A game in which you need to collect keys in each of the many levels to open the door to escape. In light of this news, Saberman has also done a video of the gameplay viewable below.

Wonder Boy - HOT NEWS as an Arcade game from 1986 gets an unofficial Amiga port by Acidbottle

Wonder Boy is a game designed by Ryuichi Nishizawa which started its life as a skateboard rock jumping and axe bashing platformer, that later became the great adventure platformer with RPG elements known as ' Wonderboy in Monster Land '. Both of these games have lived on in the hearts of many, and as such, thanks to a heads up by Saberman, we've been told AcidBottle has released the much talked about Amiga port of the 1986 Arcade classic of 'Wonder Boy'.

Super Metal Hero - Upcoming Amiga AGA platformer via Raster Wizards gets new footage

Another retro gaming news announcement has just appeared in our inbox for all you Amiga gamers out there, as as we've recently been informed via Per Ola Eriksson through Facebook, that the eagerly awaited Amiga game of 'Super Metal Hero'; a kickass new Amiga game that is being coded in Blitz Basic by Colin Vella, graphics by Tenshu and Music by JMD. Has just got a brand new video showing a new sentinel enemy for world 4 base levels.

Pieces II – The Community Release - A free C64 download from the Protovision website!

Here we are with something different for a Monday retro gaming news story, as we have just found out through Protovision, that they have not only finished the long running competition for their C64 game of 'Pieces II', but as of today you can download the free version of Pieces II – The Community Release; a tile matching puzzle game where the aim is to move pieces of the same kind together in order to clear them from the level.

Akalabeth World of Doom - A classic Lord British RPG is being ported over to the ZX Spectrum

Before I begin i'd just like to say, that sometimes if it wasn't for our members, we'd miss out on some rather interesting game releases, and so, thanks to Roman Sandaevsky, he's just given us the heads up for ' Akalabeth World of Doom ', a game which is being ported over to the ZX Spectrum. Now to raise your eyebrows even more so this isn't just any game, but according to a number of sources, Akalabeth: World of Doom was originally a game for the Apple II released in 1979, and designed by none other than Richard Garriott aka Lord British.

Starfox EX - This Hack takes the 90's hit game to the next level!

Day in day out we get the latest updates from around the world of games being released, or are in development. But when it comes to this gem of a hack which is available for the classic arcade style rail shooter of 'Starfox,' I just had to give it a shout out. You see this is no ordinary hack, but this gives the game a brand new story and boasts dozens of amazing additions and features taking full advantage of the Super NES and the SuperFX chip. In light of this incredible news and possibly the final story of the day, there's a new launch trailer viewable below for this awesome hack of 'StarfoxEX'

Souverän Soccer - In development footy game for the Amiga gets new footage

Although I used to love playing Sensible Soccer or Kick Off 2, I've never been a fan of anything coming out of EA called Fifa. Still one game I am keen to play when it gets an eventual release, is Dän Bänän's upcoming Commodore Amiga game of 'Souverän Soccer'; a game which the developer describes as a "Super Formation Soccer (SNES) like game for unaccelerated stock Amiga 1200 / CD32 and compatible machines (Amiga AGA 020, 14 MHz, no Fast RAM, 50 fps)". In light of this news, we have a new video to show you and an update in regards to the latest developments.

Red41 The silent Death - Another Amiga game has been recovered for the community!

As so many of you are aware by now we love Retro games, especially games that have been lost into the ages and through these modern times have finally been recovered for many of us to enjoy. This is especially true for games such as Riamel Black Prophecy which appeared earlier this year for the Amiga. Thankfully more games are seeing the light of day, as thanks to a heads up from Per Ola Eriksson, he has told us that Daniele Pompo who was part of the software house DigitalWarp, has made available an Alpha version of the unreleased Amiga game of 'Red41 - The Silent Death'.

Tournament Arkanoid ZX - A mod of the classic game of 'Arkanoid' featuring awesome new artwork via Jarrod Bentley!

Ready your paddles retro gamers, as a new game is now available to download and play on your ZX Spectrum by Martyn Carroll. This latest release called Tournament Arkanoid, is a brand new mod of the classic game of 'Arkanoid' featuring awesome new artwork from Jarrod Bentley, as a nod to the Arcade version released back in 1987. To coincide with this news, Saberman has done a video of the game which shows the new loading screen as well as many great levels from the Arcade version which appeared in the states.

Avoid - A 4kb rhythm based game available for the Commodore 64

From Arcade games to Platformers and Puzzlers, these are the typical homebrew style that developers like to make for most systems which includes the C64. Well now we have something rather unique to show you and unlike those genres we just mentioned above, this is a rhythm based game called ' Avoid'; A 4kb Commodore 64 rhythm game made for the 2020 Craptastic competition and developed by James which is also playable in your browser.

Luma - Laser based puzzle game for the Commodore Amiga is now available

Great news if you're looking for something different other than a platformer, as thanks to the creator contacting us just moments ago, we've been told that Zooperdan has released his laser based sliding puzzle game for the Amiga called 'Luma'; an Amiga port of the amazing game Luma, made by Shallan for the C64. Yes indeed if you're looking for a good game to play right now, then you'll be pleased to know this game features 128 levels of goodness as you test your puzzling skills to the max! 

Half Rest - Hack n Slasher released for the Amstrad CPC by Panetonent

Another CPCRetroDev 2022 news story has just hit our inbox, as Saberman was kind enough to let us know through Facebook, that if you're looking for a simple hack n slasher for your Amstrad, then you might like to check out Panetonent's new game of ' Half Rest '. A new Amstrad game in which you need to slash your way through as many enemies as possible, to stop them from rescuing their general S.Blanca. In light of this news Saberman has also done a video of the game in an attempt to gain a very high score.

Paco Time Attack - A new Bomb Jack inspiration arrives thanks to Physical Dreams (MSX)

The retro gaming news just keeps on coming, as if the announcement of Druid and Droid, Oh Chute!  and Minekart Madness wasn't enough to whet your appetite, then you might be interested to learn as of today thanks to a heads up by @ArnaudDeKlerk, you can now download or play online the latest MSX release of Paco Time Attack by Physical Dreams; an MSX nod to Bomb Jack in which you need to collect all the bombs to clear the level.

Submarine Warfare - Destroy all the Warships in this Arcade C64 game by Mirazulado

Putting aside all the Amstrad games, it's time for the Commodore 64 to get in on the homebrew fun, as thanks to Saberman contacting us today, he has told us that Mirazulado has released the rather enjoyable C64 game of 'Submarine Warfare'; An Arcade game in which you need to destroy all the Warships above you, while trying not to be blown up by the deadly depth charges. In light of this news, Saberman has also done a short video of the game which as ever is viewable below.

Druid & Droid - Controlling two characters in a new Amstrad game by Leosoft!

Here's a rather unique game you should play if you have an Amstrad CPC, as looking through the itch io website, we've come across an Arcade Platformer that was developed by Leosoft and entered into the CPCRetrodev 2022 competition called 'Druid and Droid'; A game that puts you in control of two characters a Druid and a Droid on a quest to travel to the past to save the future from climate crisis, wars and pandemics.

Oh Chute! - This upcoming Amstrad game looks a ton of fun to play!

This year has just been fantastic for the Amstrad CPC with a ton of Amstrad homebrew games to spoil us, but even though we had all these games such as Blinky's Scary School for the Amstrad Plus and GX4000 and Toki, we haven't finished with the Amstrad just yet. As looking through the CPCWiki forums, we've come across an enjoyable looking game that's in development for the Amstrad called 'Oh Chute'; An Arcade game in which you need to parachute and land without being hit by the helicopters!

Minekart Madness - A great NES game as a homage to 80's coin-op classics by Matt Hughson

If you're looking for a new NES game to try and want one to satisfy your retro gaming needs, then look no further than this latest game sent to us via the nesdev forums, as we have just been told that you can now download Matt Hughson's new game of 'MineKart Madness'; an addictive classic coin-op arcade game which isn't just available for your NES, but it has also been entered into the 2022 NESdev Competition.

Morris.exe - A new Puzzler for the Amstrad CPC by MedusaProjects

The Amstrad CPC has certainly had its fair share of fun games released this month, especially with so many available to download via the CPCRetroDev 2022 competition that we have mentioned here on Indie Retro News. Still, if you are not content with the games just posted and wanted even more Amstrad goodness, then it might be worth your time checking out MedusaProject's latest Amstrad game of Morris.exe; A challenging puzzler that will keep you busy throughout the weeks ahead.

Tiny Deathmatch - A Multiplayer game released for the Amstrad CPC by Francesc Alcaucer

Something slightly different for today's retro heads up, as we've just been contacted by a good friend of ours through Facebook, that as of just recently you can download the latest release of Tiny Deathmatch for the Amstrad CPC by Francesc Alcaucer. A new game in which you either fight against other players or the CPU, as a multiplayer death match game programmed 100% in Locomotive Basic for the CPCRetrodev 2022 competition.

Castle Escape - A lovely looking game for the ZX Spectrum Next by IrataHack

Welcome to a new game for the ZX Spectrum Next called 'Castle Escape' by IrataHack. In this game which is also available to try out on a standard ZX Spectrum. You play as a Knight struggling with the weight of his armor, as he must make his escape from a haunted Castle by collecting lots of loot and avoiding dangerous enemies!  It's just a shame his armor gets in the way because without the purple eggs, which give him a limited amount of anti-gravity, he's just too damn heavy to jump high enough and may even be crushed as he falls from a great height.

COLONOS III - A new ZX Spectrum 48k/128k game from JOSE MANUEL GRIS UMPIERREZ

Another retro gaming heads up as we have also been told that JOSE MANUEL GRIS UMPIERREZ has released the Arcade/Platformer game of ' COLONOS III '; a game which is available to download and play on a ZX Spectrum 48k/128k. This new release developed using AGD, is the latest enjoyable title to appear on our little Speccies, as in this game as the third in the series, you need to return to Mars and perform one last and dangerous rescue. In light of this news, Saberman has also done a gameplay video viewable below.

Fantasy World Dizzy might be coming to the BBC Micro!

We've just come across a great news story especially if you have a BBC Micro, as we've been told through our Dizzy RetroGaming Facebook group, that 'Fantasy World Dizzy' might be coming to the BBC Micro by Jasper Renow Clarke. For those of you asking why this is a great news story. Well from what we know this classic adventure platformer by The Oliver Twins never came to the BBC Micro, only the Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari ST and DOS. So yes I'm very much excited to see how this progresses throughout the months or years ahead.

Megafrog - A work in progress Amiga Frogger game but with a difference!

While the choice is there to play lots of other different versions of Frogger that we have featured on Indie Retro News, such as our personal favorite 'Frogger Arcade' by Hokuto Force for the C64. I thought it would still be worth mentioning this Frogger clone that has been sent to us, and it's 'Megafrog' for the Amiga by Friar85; an in development clone for the Amiga Blitz Basic Jam competition, where you can eat enough dragonflies to grow big enough to eat Cars!

Raven's Gate - A high quality Zelda inspiration is now available for the NES

If you're looking for a new NES game to try and want one to satisfy your retro gaming needs, then look no further than this latest news update! As thanks to a heads up by a good friend of ours on Twitter, we have been told that MercuryBD has released the high quality Zelda inspiration of Raven's Gate for the NES. A brand new game entered into the NESDev Compo 2022 which should keep you entertained for more than just a few hours. In light of this news, we've got a new gameplay video to show you as well.

Black Dawn Technomage (AGA Only) - The final Amiga AGA game in the Black Dawn Saga is now available via itch.io

We've featured many Amiga Dungeon Crawlers on Indie Retro News, from Black Dawn Rebirth which is a high grade crawler as the 7th episode of the Black Dawn Dungeon Crawler/RPG series. To ' The Shadows of Sergoth '; a game which had fast coded graphics, deadly monsters and cool loot to find throughout (Although I'm still waiting for my boxed copy a year later!). Well fast forward to today and do we have some great news for you, as the previously featured and released as a big box edition Dungeon Crawler of 'Black Dawn TechnoMage', is now available as a digital download through itch.io.

Oh Mummy! - An Amstrad Oh Mummy! remake for the Zx Spectrum by Fitosoft

One of my Favourite Amstrad games ' Oh Mummy! ' has appeared again but not as a HD PC version, but this time the game has been remade from the Amstrad CPC over to the ZX Spectrum by Fitosoft. Oh Mummy! in my opinion was and still is one of the best games on the Amstrad from 1984 and published by none other than Amsoft, a well known publisher for the Amstrad computer. So you can see why I'm just that little bit excited to try out this version of the game thanks to a heads up by Saberman who did a gameplay video.

Superchase Remix - A monster hungry maze game for the Commodore 64 by JJFlash

The last game article from me today as I'm just overwhelmed with the amount of games now coming out per day, is JJFlash's brand new Commodore 64 game of 'Superchase Remix'. A new game in which you have to collect as much treasure as possible per level before the angry Monster speeds up and chases you around the maze. As ever if you're interested in seeing if the game is worth playing, Saberman has also done a video of the game viewable below.

DONUM - Ready for more horror? Check out this new ZX Spectrum 128k release by Bitfans!

With Halloween now at the back of our minds and the pumpkins slowly rotting away outside the front door, many of us still like watching horror movies at whatever date the Calender shows. One such game that may satisfy your horror needs and released only recently, is Bitfans latest ZX Spectrum game of 'DONUM '; A game according to the creators, is the most terrifying interactive fiction you've ever played. In light of this creepy news, there's a new gameplay video posted below which should appeal to any ZX Spectrum out there.

Manic Miner: Trick or Treat - A creepy Halloween Mod for the original Matthew Smith classic!

Even more awesome games to get through this week, as we've recently been informed through Facebook that the all time classic of 'Manic Miner' by Matthew Smith, which was originally released way back in 1983, has been re-released as Manic Miner: Trick or Treat for the ZX Spectrum. A brand new Halloween Mod by none other than Highriser. To coincide with this latest news story, Saberman has done a gameplay video showing Miner Willy using a torch in hand to light his rather dangerous surroundings. 

CPC Jewels - A colourful Columns game available for the Amstrad CPC via Amstrad ESP(ESP Soft)!

Another Amstrad news story for you all as they just keep on coming, as thanks to a heads up from our good friend XeNoMoRPH through our Indie Retro News inbox. We've been told that if you really enjoyed the 1984 game of Tetris or the 1989 game of Columns, then as of right now you can enjoy Amstrad ESP(ESP SOFT) latest Columns based game of 'CPC Jewels' for the Amstrad CPC. To coincide with this news, you can check out the latest footage of the game viewable below which has also been provided by XeNoMoRPH.

Dire Dare - An incredible Amstrad CPC game entered into the CPCRetroDev 2022

While many of you are probably still enjoying the latest Amstrad CPC release of the hit classic of TOKI, there's another game that's well worth a load, and it's CNGsoft's latest game of Dire Dare. An Isometric action game with nods to classics such as Atic Atac. In this game entered into the CPCRetroDev 2022, you takes the role of sorceress Hecatia, whose goal is to locate and defeat Glanosuchus and Alopecodon, hidden in opposite corners of the mansion. In light of this news our good friend XeNoMoRPH has done a gameplay video showing how good this game looks and sounds as a top entry into the competition.

Be witched or be dead - A 2 player battle game released for the Amstrad CPC via CPCRetroDev 2022
