Defender of the Crown - All time classic game by Cinemaware is coming to the Intellivision!

One game I remember so fondly is Cinemaware's fantastic medieval game ' Defender of the Crown ' from 1986. It was released for multiple systems including the Amiga, DOS, NES, Atari ST, Amstrad CPC, C64, Macintosh and the Apple IIGS in 1988 with a CD-i version much later on. A grand game for its time and loved by all, is going to make an appearance on another retro system, as we've just learnt Defender of the Crown is coming to the Intellivision through Elektronite!

Defender of the Crown - Extended Collector's Edition by Cinemaware Retro - Unboxed!

When I was a teen in the 90's I was a massive fan and collector of the Cinemaware line up on the Amiga such as Defender of the Crown, It Came from the Desert and my all time favourite Wings. But even though a remastered edition of Wings was later released on the PC through a successful Kickstarter campaign, I have still been eagerly awaiting the collectors edition of the Defender of the Crown released by Cinemaware Retro for multiple systems including even the Amiga CD32. Thus today in my hands are "TWO" Defender of the Crown Extended Collector's Editions, both signed with one of them opened up just for you.

Never released Defender of the Crown for the ZX Spectrum revealed!

A grand game with jousting, rescuing damsels in distress, conquest and even catapults again castles that sadly never appeared on the ZX Spectrum as a commercial product by Mirrosoft. But now, thanks to a contact by none other than Cinemaware, they have revealed a full version of Defender of the Crown for the ZX Spectrum which will be released!

Wings! Remastered Edition - Gets an Amiga OS update and Demo!

Although this news came out yesterday ( blame the migraine for not doing it ), we are pleased to announce that the PC remastered edition in HD from the classic Amiga Wings! is now up for pre-order for Amiga OS and will be made available FEB 2016. According to one such user who commented that we will never see a such a port. Even if they released the source-code, that source-code will be near to useless to Amiga-users. This game is made using Unity3D. The developers noted if they reached 95.000k they will support a team that is willing to port Wings! Remastered Edition for Amiga. And one year after release they found someone. The Team of Goldencode works on the port for the Amiga, and supports MorphOS, AROS x86 and Amiga OS4 (Warp 3D / RadeonHD).

It Came From the Desert Motion Picture set for 2016 release!

After much wondering, Cinemaware has finally come forward and properly announced the release for the 'It Came From the Desert' motion picture; a motion picture adaptation of the classic 80's game It Came From the Desert. According to Cinemaware, the development comes from Iron Sky producer Tero Kaukomaa who is filling an executive producer role on a Finnish backed, English language big screen adaptation of classic 1980s game. To go with this latest news they have recently released a debut trailer!

Rocket Ranger Reloaded - A Kickstarter success for Cinemaware

After a very close shave, with only hours to spare, Cinemaware has pushed through a Kickstarter success for their latest overhauled remake of "Rocket Ranger Reloaded". With a big drive from us at Indie Retro News and also thanks to DSOGaming, you'll be able to play the remastered overhauled classic towards the end of 2015. Originally released as Rocket Ranger in 1988 for a multitude of systems including the Amiga. Rocket Ranger drew it's inspirations from Hollywood B-movies and included a hero against the Nazi's and a damsel in distress.  Using a rocket pack and a radium pistol, the player had to fly around the world fighting the escalating Nazi technology, with a number of different genre style games included.

Cinemaware goes to the movies - Pre-Production Of “It Came From the Desert” Motion Picture!‏

Call us Cinemaware fans if you so wish, but one thing can be said about the company, they are certainly unique in development as they've gone from some fantastic retro games such as Defender of the Crown, Wings and It Came From the Desert to a just announced “It Came From the Desert” Motion Picture!‏ Although I was hoping for an animated version of the hit classic, today's announcement sees the game company Cinemaware entering a partnership agreement with Roger! Pictures for the development of a motion picture based on the company’s cult-classic game.

It Came From The Desert - Cinemaware's next big tease!

Back in 1989 Cinemaware released one of the greatest action-adventure games ever made. It had a strong Hollywood B movie vibe as you tried to prove that giant ants were real and convince the mayor to call upon the national guard to fight. Featuring a mix of adventuring, arcade and shooter game play and ported to a multitude of systems such as the Amiga, many gamers are still playing it even today. But the big tease coming from Cinemaware is just this one poster which mentions an ant invasion beginning on Jan 16th. According to the Facebook group page it looks to be a Film, perhaps an animated cartoon? Who knows, we will just have to wait until that date to find out!

Rocket Ranger Reloaded - Retro overhaul PC demo release

As promised from our previous article, Cinemaware has just released through their latest Kickstarter campaign, the Rocket Ranger Reloaded PC demo. This early build gives you a short tease of what the final version of the overhauled "Rocket Ranger" may be like if the Kickstarter is a success. In short about the game. Rocket Ranger is an action adventure game originally developed by Cinemaware in 1988 for a multitude of systems. Once again developed by the same company Cinemaware, "Rocket Ranger Reloaded" will return to the 1930's-40's with that authentic B-Movie Hollywood style and will feature a number of enhancements such as all in high-definition stylized graphics with a new orchestral soundtrack and much more.

As you may have noticed, Cinemaware actively gets a lot of coverage here as there are a lot of fans on Indie Retro News from the heyday when Defender of the Crown, It Came From the Desert!, Rocket Ranger and Wings were all massive titles that were hugely different from other games around at the time. Also, the fact that Cinemaware is still active in the community and willing to do remakes  of their classics without losing the feel of the originals gives them even more brownie points. So when they announced their kickstarter for a remastered Wings, we were all over it like a rash.

Defender of the Crown - One of Cinemawares greatest games is now on GOG!

After our last week announcement by Cinemaware, we are now delighted to further announce that Defender of the Crown is now available to buy on GOG.com  This is one of many all time classic games that will be on gog from Cinemaware, but it's great to see that the developers have released this incredible Strategy game as the first in the line up of great games. Relive a defining moment in the Amiga's life time, as you play through medieval gameplay of conquering, tournaments, and damsel rescuing that set a high bar in stunning graphical presentation.

Cinemaware - Some of the greatest classics coming to GOG.COM!

We've just been informed by Cinemaware that they have announced a digital distribution agreement with GOG.com, the leading source of DRM-free games. Through this agreement GOG.com will be providing a selection of incredible classics that many of us grew up with; one such game being Defender of the Crown. What's more Cinemaware has mentioned that not only will the DOS version be sold, but also the very first Amiga games will also be sold with the DOS versions through GOG.

Cinemaware partnership with Kalypso Media for Wings! Remastered Edition

A Kickstarter success and a remastered edition of a hit classic, Cinemaware have today announced that they have agreed a partnership with Kalypso Media to bring Wings! Remastered Edition to PCs. An all time classic WW1 flight Simulator intermixed with arcade bombing runs that became a top quality classic on the Amiga, will be released as an enhanced remastered edition for PC, with OS X and mobiles coming later this year.

Wings : Remastered Edition - A Cinemaware classic revamped - Gets a beta release and short preview

Only just recently we featured Cinemaware's classic revamp of the WW1 arcade flight game, Wings and today we've just had the first beta build that was made available to Kickstarter backers. Wings : Remastered is a revamped version of the Amiga version that will feature far higher graphical capability of the original, while still keeping to the original game play that made Wings on the Amiga so great.
