Spediteur - A turn based business simulator released for the Commodore 64

Most of the games we feature are either platformers or shoot em ups, but today's news is something completely different, as Saberman has informed us that WindigoProductions has released the board game styled turn based business simulator of Spediteur for the Commodore 64. A game which features not just four competing players, but challenging computer opponents, 5 unique maps, different difficulty levels, and is PAL/NTSC compatible. Speccy Soccer Community Edition 2023 - Sensible Soccer for your ZX Spectrum 128k?

I'll be straight with you, I can't stand football, I never liked it as a kid and I don't like watching it as an adult, even if it is the in thing for most sports watchers. However if you do like playing Football or Soccer games on your home computer, more especially retro ones, then it might be worth checking out Voxel Towers latest game for the ZX Spectrum called 'Speccy Soccer Community Edition 2023'. Hamurabi - A classic resource management sim ported online!

Atlantis and Dragonfire weren't the only games to be ported this month, as earlier today Chris contacted us to let us know that a port of 'Hamurabi' had been released and playable online via the Adventuron itch.io page. This game according to the main write up, is a port of the classic 1968 resource management sim by Doug Dyment and is adapted from the 1973 BASIC version port by David Ahl (printed in BASIC Computer Games, 1973).

Merchant - Atari ST/STE Trading simulator, comes 5th at SILLY VENTURE 2018

One of my favourite genres is trading simulators, games such as Port Royale and Patrician whereby you start off with but a penny to your name hoping to make it rich and become powerful enough to tell the rest of your town what to do. Thankfully it seems others are particularly found of this genre as during the SILLY VENTURE 2018 compo, Masters of Electric City's merchant simulator ' Merchant ' came 5th and is well worth a play if you have an Atari ST/STE.

Russian Subway Dogs - Arcade-simulation for PC and MAC looks crazy fun!

From the creators of They Bleed Pixels, SpookySquid has recently announced their latest game ' Russian Subway Dogs ' for the PC and Mac. A fun filled arcade simulation game which puts you in control of a range of unlockable animals and pets, on a mission to scavenge for food from Russian commuters. Surviving isn't easy when you are dodging volatile vodka, rival dogs, and the rare and dangerous Subway Bear!

Sid Meier's Pirates! - One of the best games I've ever played, Yarrr!

It is incredible to think that the original Sid Meier's retro gaming hit of 'Pirates!', from way back in the late 80's can still be played today and enjoyed by people of all ages. It had you sailing your very own ship such as a fast sloop, capturing other ships, looking for treasure, sword fighting on deck, and marrying a rather pretty lady! In fact it was a highly addictive game that appeared on the Amiga, Amiga CD32, Apple II/IIGS, Atari ST, Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC and many others. So if you want to play this game right now without setting any emulators up, here's the Amiga version ready to be launched on a home PC!

Empires of the Undergrowth - Could this be the next SimAnt, coming to Steam Early Access?

A long time ago on the Amiga I played a game called Sim Ant; a highly addictive Ant simulation game released in 1991 by Maxis, that gave you the player control of an Ant colony, from birth, to domination across a garden and into a persons house. It was and still is, a game that I'd recommend to everyone to pick up and play. But if you can't, then it might be worth your time looking towards 'Empires of the Undergrowth', which looks like someone took Sim Ant and put it through a modern Ant Simulation blender.

Excalibur and Taxi Driver - Hot news as two ZX Spectrum games lost and finally found!

During our many write ups we do love writing about old retro games that people have never heard of, or those that have been lost through the years and for one reason or another have been uncovered, much to the amazement of the community. Today's release for example is a double bonanza, as thanks to The Spanish site El Trastero del Spectrum, they have uncovered a number of ZX Spectrum games that were thought to be lost, 'Excalibur' and 'Taxi Driver'.

Skool Daze - Childhood retro gaming classic coming to the Atari 8-bit

Skool Daze was released in 1984 for the ZX Spectrum and C64, created by David Reidy and Helen Reidy with the ZX Spectrum version voted the 4th best game of all time in a special issue of Your Sinclair magazine in 2004. It was the only game of its time that gave you the true 8-bit experience of being at school, with all the lines and detention that came with the bad side of being a naughty kid. Now for the first time ever, after already appearing on the ZX, C64, Amstrad(Port), PC(Remake) and Mobile, this classic game is going to appear on the Atari 8-bit with development by Mariusz Wojcieszek and José Pereira!

Skool Daze - A retro childhood classic remade could be coming to Mobile and Tablets this week! [UPDATE]

A fantastic news story has just reached our inbox as Alternative Software's upcoming Skool Daze remake may be released this week on mobile and tablets. It's incredible to think that Skool Daze was first released way back in 1984 for the ZX Spectrum and C64 created by David Reidy. It was the only game of its time, that gave you the experience of being at school, while also being an unruly child trying to steal a report card from the headmaster's safe before your parents end up seeing it.

SuperFlight - Fly fast through the mountains in this beautiful looking upcoming PC release

Imagine yourselves flying through a lush mountainscape without a care in the world and the feeling of the wind rushing past your face at ever increasing speeds. If you can imagine that, then you really should check out the recent Steam Greenlight success of 'SuperFlight' by GrizzlyGames. As you'll be wearing a wingsuit and performing daring manoeuvres in procedurally generated mountainscapes pulling off incredible combos to beat a high score.

Charlie Chaplin - Lost and found C64 game previewed features a historic film comedian

Onslaught are on form this week as after releasing a preview of the shoot em up Red Baron 3000, they've now found and released a preview of Charlie Chaplin on the C64 (coming on one disk instead of two, with bug fixes). This was a very unusual game for its time only appearing on the Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum. It featured the historic actor, director, editor, composer, screenwriter and producer Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977) in his very own black and white masterpieces, that could be reviewed and retaken just like all those years ago.

Carrier-Bourne Fighter Simulation &D - Long lost flight Simulator appears on the C64

Jumping out from the platformer and into the cockpit of a fighter, as Genesis Project has released a long lost flight simulator called ' Carrier-Bourne Fighter Simulation ' for the C64. Developed by J.G.S James in 1986, this game was found from the void by WertStahl and linked by Rhythm with docs by hedning. The aim of this game is to take off from the carrier, shoot down any enemy aircraft and return to the flight deck, which is easier said than done!

Tennis Classics - Novabug takes a look at some retro sports classics!

One of, if not the oldest video game genre's stemming back to 1972's Pong, tennis games are rampant across all systems far and wide, good and bad. With 2016's Wimbledon tournament in full backhand swing, I take a look at several from the 8 and 16 bit eras, starting with the master of serve and volley Pete Sampras on the Sega Mega Drive. I also check the turf on the Spectrum and the Game Boy.

Formula 1 Grand Prix - Amiga racer free to play on PC & Mac!

Gamesnostalgia has been very busy lately bundling old retro games up in a neat little playable PC and MAC package, but one of those games of interest was the 1992 Amiga racing simulator ' Formula 1 Grand Prix ' by Microprose. Although I was never a racing fan, spending most of my time crashing into everything and doing replays, this was an overall decent game noted for its 3D graphics, attention to detail and the ability to edit teams and drivers. Now thanks to Gamesnostalgia this game is once again playable on more modern systems, pre-configured using FS-UAE.

UBOOT - PlayWay aims for a WW2 Survival Sandbox Kickstarter success

Just as I said last time, when it comes to games associated with PlayWay, you just know it is going to be a Kickstarter success. Well PlayWay and in development by Deep Water Studio's, have once again jumped into the Kickstarter crowd funding way of life with their latest game ' UBOOT '. Which is a WW2 Survival Sandbox Simulation aboard your very own submarine from the WWII era, with all its wave breaking, torpedo firing charm intact.

The Happiest Days of Your Life +3DM - More like high school blues.

Firebird Software's 1986 school days simulator: The Happiest Days of Your Life gets the Hokuto Force treatment this week. A somewhat frustrating puzzler has been tamed thanks to infinite health, lives and easy completion modes and bug fixes. The idea of the game is to find the head master's wallet and prevent getting caned for stealing it by finding photographic evidence along the way.

When I'm playing games that has speed involved, such as Rally games, I like to actually feel like I'm going really fast, to feel the adrenaline and to go as fast as possible. The problem is many of them don't give that impression, at least not until now! Husband Chores - Keep the house clean in this new ZX Spectrum game

After all those C64 games yesterday it's nice to have a new ZX Spectrum game to talk about, and thus here we are with the new simulation, ' Husband Chores ' by Sebastian Mihai, that was completely developed from scratch. In this game you play as your typical husband who has been told by the wife he must keep the house clean by doing all the chores. The problem is, not only do you have to keep the toilets clean, but the trash keeps piling up and thus must be taken out for the dustbin man!

Skool Daze - Retro School antics goes final for the Amstrad CPC

Another hit game which I'm sure you remember was the world favourite of 'Skool Daze'; a ZX Spectrum release from 1984 that featured lots of school antics as you play as a naughty schoolboy named Eric with a task to steal the report card from the headmaster's safe! When I originally played it I had so much fun back in the day, there was nothing better than smacking other kids with your trusty catapult or causing havoc for the teachers and getting 1000's of lines. So how would you like to play the Amstrad conversion which in the last month or so was finally released by the developer Joseman? You do, good! Because it is available to download as a disk and works via an Amstrad emulator or real Amstrad CPC hardware!
