Soul Crystal - A very atmospheric Commodore 64 game from 1992 is now fully translated!

For those of you who love playing text based graphical adventures, then we have just found out through the CSdb database, that the classic 1992 game of 'Soul Crystal' by Avantgardistic Arts, has now been fully translated by CSixx, and released by well known sceners Onslaught for the Commodore 64! A game that has very positive feedback such as "Superb game, played it for hours back then. Graphics and music are great, and I really like the game's atmosphere".

Fight Run Preview - Onslaught teases a tiny 2D fighter on the C64

Checking through the latest CSDb updates, I happen to come across a new preview on the C64 released by Onslaught that looked like it could be a game to keep an eye out for when it's actually released in full. This is ' Fight Run Preview ' ; a lovely little 2D fighting game that stars up to two players kicking and punching each other until the time runs out.

Fire Breath - Lost in the Attic for 26 years finally released for the C64

Software developer Erik J. Hooijmeijer has released an old title he tried to release in 1990 on his alternative software development website: Ctrl-alt-dev. Sitting in his attic for 26 years, this fully playable platform game - inspired by my two favourite games: Bubble Bobble and Creatures - can be downloaded for free from his website, and not one, not two, but three trained versions from The Genesis Project, Laxity and Onslaught are also available on CSDB.

Luna 3 - A chaotic blaster on the C64 by Sputnik World!

Another homebrew game has thrust its way into the year 2017, is the recently released ' Luna 3 ' by Sputnik World on the C64, which has also been trainered by our good friends Onslaught. In this game which I would regard as one of the most chaotic shooters I've played for along time, you must blast your way through as many enemies as possible for an ever high score, to make your way to the colony Luna 3 to destroy the enemy forces. Before you can do that, you must defend Luna 2 which has also just come under attack!

Bugs Bunny Private Eye Preview - Hayesmaker takes a look at the latest Onslaught C64 release

It was one of the best stories on the C64 in recent times: Daffy Duck, Hi-Tec software's highly rated Warner Brothers' licence, but never to be released game, was found, on some working disks thought to be lost forever. During the search, however, also discovered, was probably the only copy in existence of the full game of Bugs Bunny - Private Eye. This got a release on "Games that Weren't" website, and the search continued for Daffy Duck. Now rather surprisingly, an early Preview version of Bugs Bunny has surfaced, containing 2 complete levels, sub levels and playing rather differently from the final "release" version. And Onslaught have released a 100% fixed version for everyone with a C64 to enjoy.

Charlie Chaplin - Lost and found C64 game previewed features a historic film comedian

Onslaught are on form this week as after releasing a preview of the shoot em up Red Baron 3000, they've now found and released a preview of Charlie Chaplin on the C64 (coming on one disk instead of two, with bug fixes). This was a very unusual game for its time only appearing on the Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum. It featured the historic actor, director, editor, composer, screenwriter and producer Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977) in his very own black and white masterpieces, that could be reviewed and retaken just like all those years ago.

Red Baron 3000 Preview - Onslaught teases a C64 game that could've been awesome

Throughout this week a few previews had appeared that didn't really take to my fancy, but one such C64 game called Red Baron 3000 Preview, took me completely by surprise. Released by Onslaught earlier on today, Red Baron 3000 is a top scrolling shooter with very impressive graphical effects and simultaneous music and sfx. According to GTW, this game was by Hein Holt who was inspired by the parallax effects of Flimbos Quest and Hawkeye 2, but sadly was cancelled when a major rework was required to try and free up more memory for the game.

Psycastria +4D - Gary Partis's Side Scrolling Shooter reappears thanks to Pugsy

I haven't given much love to the C64 this past week so here's the side scrolling shooter ' Psycastria ' by Gary Partis, and published by Audiogenic Software in 1986 that has been update cracked with some lovely cheats thanks to Pugsy of Onslaught. In this game with its Uridium vibe, you have to blast ground based objects such as docked ships for points while also shooting at or avoiding waves of enemies coming at you at incredibly fast speeds!

The Soul Gem of Martek Preview - A C64 game lost and found, released by Onslaught

Another class release for your weekend pleasure is ' The Soul Gem of Martek Preview ' supplied by Jazzcat and scene released by Onslaught for the C64. Originally this game was meant to be released back in 1985 by Anirog Software but even though it did appear in ZZap 64, the game was nowhere to be found, with rumours circulating around the reason for it not appearing. It may have also been if it had been released, a 150k, 6 part blockbuster as a text adventure, mixed with arcade elements.

Daffy Duck And The Great Paint Caper - C64 game recovered and released today!

As to my utter amazement we've just learnt of the release of a fantastic C64 platformer game originally by Hi-Tec in 1992 that never saw the light of day, until now! After 18 years worth of searching by Games That Weren't, they are proud to announce the fully recovered 'Daffy Duck - And The Great Paint Caper' which scored a massive 95% review from Zzap 64. Also according to GTW this game was to be one of Hi-tec's first premier range titles making great use of a recent licence agreement with Warner Bros. However all was not well as the game never appeared on the shelves, especially with Hi-Tec going under. But today the game is finally here, as according to Onslaught who have big fixed, added a trainer and more, they've released the Holy Grail of C64 games, Daffy Duck +3DS!

Behemoth Preview - A shooter of an Armalyte C64 clone!

Another Onslaught crack today and this one is a little bit special for those of you who remember the awesome C64 shooter 'Armalyte', released way back in 1988. Although this is not a full game with only level 1 as 100% complete and the others half that, 'Behemoth Preview' supplied by Jazzcat is classed as an Armalyte clone that was originally meant for the budget label, however the game was never finished because the crew went over to the Amiga. Now thanks to Onslaught you can play the first level and test out the others, but be warned, as we said it isn't finished.

Moonraker +2 - Obscure C64 shooter cracked by Onslaught

Onslaught are on fire today as they've also released Hires Software's C64 game 'Moonraker', which was an obscure shooter first appearing in a 1980's Norwegian magazine called Mikrodata. In this game which is a little bit like space invaders, you must defend your cities using a Space Shuttle from the alien threat, which is not only being bombarded by sphere like objects but also from the UFO which zips from one side to the other.

Welcome to Hell +3 - New C64 shooter cracked by Onslaught

Onslaught has been very busy lately as they've not only released Rattlehead's new C64 game of 'Welcome to Hell' (with a trainer), but they've also put out some other fine games including previews which we will be featuring later today. In regards to Welcome to Hell, in this game you have been transported to hell by an evil force and must stop at nothing to destroy all the demons before you become one yourself.

Scarabaeus - Egyptian C64 classic cracked by Onslaught

Way back in the time of the Egyptians and of the ancient Pyramids, an astronaut and his dog has to explore an Egyptian tomb to find the Pharaohs Jewel, the problem was (which isn't shown) you get bit by a spider, so not only are you trying to locate the gem, you need to find the medicine to stop the poison before you die. Welcome to 'Scarabaeus', a rather interesting 3D Maze game with a fantastic soundtrack originally developed by Andromeda Software, and released in 1985 for the C64 which has now been re-released by Onslaught with a cheat trainer.

The Last Ninja Preview - Onslaught cracks an iconic C64 title demo

Cited as one of the most highly innovative, most successful, ground breaking action-adventure C64 games of it's time, developed by System 3 in 1987 that is still spoken about to this day. Onslaught has cracked the very early "The Last Ninja Preview". Which when run, seems to be a teaser to the full version that you can even download for free. It even has that incredible soundtrack that is played many times over on such cool radio stations such as Slay Radio.

Populous - Peter Molyneux godly classic appears on the C64!

If the news of the Maniac Mansion Demo Disk  or the Grubz (Worms Clone) for the C64 didn't blow you away, then the latest C64 preview of Populous probably will. First released in 1989 for the Amiga and then ported over to other systems in the early 90's such as the Acorn 32-bit, Atari ST and DOS. Populous was developed by Peter Molyneux for Bullfrog in which you play as a god, gaming against other gods in a celestial game of conquest. But what didn't happen was a version for the C64, until now!

Maniac Mansion Demo Disk - Onslaught releases the demo of an all time classic for the C64!

I know our readers like great finds, so here's one to add to your C64 collection, it's the Maniac Mansion Demo Disk cracked by Onslaught. Originally Maniac Mansion was released way back in 1987 as a graphic adventure by Lucasfilm Games for the C64 and Apple II, it was highly praised and today is still regarded as one of the best adventure games of it's time. Well it looks as if over these past few years the demo disk has surfaced which according to some never officially saw a release, hence why you'll probably see a number of dropped jaws at the mention of the demo.

Bad Apple 64 - A mighty impressive C64 demo!

Usually it's all about the games, but this time we are going to feature an impressive feat of work that I believe will amaze most of our readers. Released by Onslaught and developed by a number of talented C64 users such as Kril, Ukimenustah, svenonacid and Algotech this is a mighty impressive C64 music demo that really pushes the C64 to it's technical prowess.
