Genesia Legacy: Turn-based strategy game from an Amiga classic on Indiegogo
In 1993 Microids and Software Toolworks released a brilliant strategy game called Ultimate Domain (Genesia) for the Amiga. It was very similar to other classic strategy games of that time, as you started in the 17th century and had to colonize the new world, but also having to search for 'The Seven Jewels of Genesia'. It was one of my most favourite games of all time and I was very pleased today to get the news that a new Indiegogo campaign has begun for Genesia Legacy; a re-imagining of that great game.
Lethis : Path of Progress - Anno style Victorian Steampunk vibe new screenshots!
A few months ago we featured Lethis : A Path of Progress which looked to be a great looking city builder that looked very much like Anno but in a Victorian Steampunk vibe. Not only did it become a Steam Greenlight success, but the developers Triskell Interactive have now released some brand new screenshots showing off the buildings, UI and in game development process of your growing city.
Hearthlands - Take the role of a King in this Medieval RTS
For those of you who remember Beasts n' Bumpkins as you focus on village management while helping your little villages to survive, you might want to check out Hearthlands; the latest indie development that features city building through an RTS genre. It is a game with simple mechanics as you do not control your subjects directly but challenging in the aspect of management as you focus on city building, resource management, diplomacy, heroes and other aspects that is typical of the daily life of a King. Even though the game looks nice and interesting, Hearthlands is still work in progress and a final build release date has yet to be decided.

Developed by SixtyGig Games, Retro-Pixel Castles is a village simulation game, that has inspirations from games such as Dwarf Fortress and Banished and mixes it up with other class titles like Don't Starve or RTS elements from Command and Conquer.

Developer Quote : The Settlers are celebrating their anniversary. We look back at 20 years of videogame history and talked to the developers who invented the series. Join us on our journey which started 1993 and is far from over.
Game Info : The Settlers series was a fantastic set of games going right back to 1993 on the Amiga, a game which, when it was released, enabled you to play in split screen against your friend by developing your own mini Settlement. The player was tasked with building a Medieval Settlement populated by an army of workers, each of whom perform their own individual task. These Settlements were joined up by pathways, and each path had a transporter who could deliver the goods back and forth, say from a Mill to a Bakers, which helped grow your Civilization. It was so much fun and the core roots of the game have never changed, though graphically in style it has come a long way. There was alot to do and Settlers 2 Gold was one of my all time favourite games, especially as your ship crashes on the coast and thus begins your task to develop your Settlement into a great Empire. The moving tree's and the birds chirping or your little men fishing to bring back food added to the atmosphere of the game, a game worthy of an all time classic!

Banished - City Building (Video Update)
Although we did a large feature on this game before, the developers Shining Rock Software have released a gameplay video update of this fantastic looking village/city builder Banished! Follow in the foot steps of a group of exiled travelers who decide to restart their lives in a new land. With a game play style of Anno, grow your town into a successful culture, keep the population alive by agriculture, hunting, gathering with trade and fishing. Although it's still in development, Banished looks like it could be a worthy city building strategy game.
Developers of AI War announce Skyward Collapse : turn-based 4x simulation god-game
Arcen Games, Developers of AI War, the hit space game, are turning their attention towards something far less spacey. This is SkyWard Collapse, a turn-based 4x simulation god-game. Unlike other god games whereby you use your god like powers to smash the opposition, this is about keeping the peace. Many miles up in the sky is a floating landmass and it's here you spend time in development and the overseeing of two warring factions, The Greeks and The Norse.
Widelands - Settlers Based Open Source RTS
I'm sure many of our readers enjoyed Settlers, but have you ever heard of Widelands? This is an open source, real-time strategy game, with many features that made Settlers great. You are the regent of a small clan and start out with nothing but the headquarters, from then on you must develop a growing settlement with all buildings needed to keep the resources flowing. The Settlers feel is all here, pathways between buildings, forestry and wood cutting and much more! You'll even come across other clans which you may need to fight, so train your soldiers well.
